When: November 11-13, 2005 Where: San Simeon, CA Hotel: Courtesy Inn of San Simeon - 1-800-555-5773 Website: http://www.fiero-performance.com
It's still 10 weeks off but the planning has begun and I want anyone that is interested in coming to have plenty of notice to start planning. We have 25 rooms blocked off at $59 per night. Lunch and dinner locations are still in the works. We are thinking lunch will be at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company in Monterey this year.
The collecting of raffle items has begun. This is always one of the high points of the Run. Fiero vendors really step up with some nice prizes and the proceeds go to charity (St Judes Children's Research Hospital). The proceeds from the 50/50 raffle go to help support this forum.
This is all brand new but information will be added to the website as it becomes available. The signup form will be online by the end of the week, and flyers that can be printed and handed out will also be available to download on the site.
Hope to see lots of old friends and some new ones in San Simeon this year!
Woo hoo! I've been looking forward to it, especially since I missed WestFest this year. Already have it marked down in my calander. I haven't been to Bubba Gumps in forever, but I remember it being a very good place to eat. Thanks for keeping the Run alive, Dale! You still have the black GT, or do you have to buy it back again Oh, see if you can get Orville to come and bring one of his choppers this time!

Sounds cool. Ill see if I can make it. Its just that when its that far and when its more than a day it does get a bit complicated for me with work and all.

Speeder, we do have people who can't make it for the whole weekend just come and meet us on the north end and hang out for lunch. We always have people that are not driving Fieros too and that is perfectly fine. This is open to any vehicle, but will be mostly aimed towards Fieros. Rie and I may not be in a Fiero this year, who knows.
Scott, I do still have the T-top but I am doing the little goodies it needs before it hits eBay soon.

Thanks John. I've already got my usual upstairs window room booked. Rie and I went over there this past weekend and started checking it out... You'll be glad to know that the hotel has been upgrading. They now have free wireless broadband if your laptop is so equipped. They have new TVs, refrigerators, microwaves, and coffee pots in every room. And most rooms have all new furniture.

Nothing that will be seen at the Coast Run I am afraid. Rick knows all about it as of about a month or so ago. Changed from a Spyder to a Berlinetta. Went from a 3.4TDC to a 3.4TDC turbo. Lots of other goodies that will make sure it will not be on the Coast in November. Maybe one of these days though. That is why it is still covered up!
If I don't change my mind, Rie and I may be driving our front engine fiero kit car...

Great!! We always look forward to this one and seeing you and Rie and whatever you're driving! Not sure what we'll be driving either since we're coming from the Bay Area by way of Fresno following a football game there on Thursday. Then we'll just stay Friday night, drive up the coast w/you all and come on back home after lunch. Hate to miss the big party Sat. night, but look forward to seeing everyone Fri. night and Saturday day.

Fresno? Are you going to see the BullDogs play? Mcaanda goes to school there and Fresno is about 25-45 mins away from here depending on what part of Fresno you will be in. If Mcaanda and Sniper go we will probably drive over there together? Maybe we can get a few more to drive over togther?

Jess, you can book the rooms right now! The sooner the better in my opinion! And you know the front 4 rooms have extra windows facing the ocean. I always get the top floor one on the north side. That leaves 3 that can be requested that weekend!
Call 1-800-555-5773 and tell them you are with the Fiero group coming November 11 and tell them how many nights. Some people come early, some stay late. You can get the $59 rate no matter how long you stay at that ttime. They did have a bit of trouble with the people taking reservations last year but they think they have that fixed. If the person you talk to tries to offer you another rate or doesn't seem to know what you are talking about, ask for Manesh. I don't think there will be any problem though.
Looking forward to seeing all of you!

Rick, we'll probably try to do the usual Friday caravan if you guys can get it worked out. Probably leaving Bakersfield around noon and being over around James Dean a little after 1:00pm. That is a little earlier than previous years but I would like to get to the hotel before dark. The drive across the mountains is very nice and we usually miss it because it is already getting dark. Of course, we are open to anyone's schedule.
Anyone who wants to set up a caravan let me know. If any of you L.A. guys want to come across the Grapevine and meet up with us, or if any of your northern guys want to come down and meet somewhere... We usually have both.. Everyone just let me know...

A fine example for all to see, Jess! Get those rooms now. Everyone is always afraid something will come up and they won't be able to come. Better to reserve a room now and cancel it later than to end up not being able to get one... You won't be charged as long as you call and cancel your room at least 24 hours prior. That is where we had trouble before when some people didn't call at all... We've only got 25 rooms reserved this time.

Ha! Actually we are going to see the Boise State Broncos play, but yes, they will be playing the Bulldogs on Thurs., 5:00 I think so it will be on ESPN. It should be a great game! We'll be at the Picadilly Inn by the University on Shaw and Center. That would be great to hook up if you're not leaving TOO early on Friday! I think our group from the Bay Area met Dale and others from the south at Paseo Robles or someplace a couple of years ago, but don't remember what time. I'll keep watching to see what you guys work out as far as where to meet up and when and what time we'll need to leave the Fresno area. I know you guys are ready to go at 7 or 8:00, but 9:00 or 10:00 is a better girl time! Thanks for the offer!

Yea, if your doing the drive every day I may just pick a day and go down the the southern part and drive up with you guys. Better news is that my roomate is seriously considering buying a GT was well. I actually just got back from scoping it out. 86 GT, two tone black and grey 100k miles $2k. If he buys it that will be one more car for the drive =)

Now lets all hope we can afford gas! It is probably already over four dollars in Cambria.
I will try my best to be there. I'm going to school in Los Angeles and my car will be up at my house in Aromas... so I'll have pull some clever shiznit, but I think I can do it.

I hope to get out of Bakersfield around 12 or 1:00... Even with stops and meeting people along the way, that should put us into the hotel around 5:00pm.
The actual run up the Coast in on Saturday. We leave the hotel parking lot at 8:00am and have a few stops along the way for pictures and socializing. We usually get into our Northern meeting spot around 11:30am and spend a couple of hours having lunch and more socializing. Then we refill the tanks and head back down to San Simeon. We normally get back before 5:00pm and then we have some time to relax before the dinner/raffle on Saturday night.
Sunday morning we get up and people go in different directions. Some go on Hearst Castle tours, some go to Cambria, some go to Morro Bay. I think most people generally start heading for home in their own little convoys around noon.
We welcome folks to come do as much or as little as they can. Some people just come hang out on the Southern end at the hotel, others who live up North just meet us for lunch. Some drive just one way on the Run... It's all completely open. The only thing I generally need to know is how many people we will be having for lunch on Saturday so I can arrange it with the restaurant, and also how many people will be having dinner Saturday night. That will all be on the form that will be online in a couple of days.
Rie and I were in Morro Bay/Cambria/San Simeon this past weekend. Gas was really no worse than it is here in Bakersfield. But even at that it puts it over $3.00 per gallon now. That would put the station at Gorda over $5.00 probably! Everybody has just over two months. Start throwing all of your change into a jar for your Coast Run Fuel Fund!

Im in too....reservations have been made! Funny, when I called yesterday and gave her the dates, she immediately said, "your from the Fiero party?" I said, how did you know that? She said, "because they've been calling all day!"........
Anyways, anyone interested in a caravan from the Bay Area??? I will be heading up sometime friday. (I will be taking that day off from work)

Wow! I love it! It took a few weeks to get this many people to actually make their reservations last year! We are right on top of this!
I want an opinion from some of the people who came to the Saturday night dinner/raffle last year. I had the caterer come in and we had plenty of food for people to have all they wanted. We actually sent some food home with people the next day! Did you like that better than the previous year when we went over to the restaurant? The price of the basically all-you-can-eat dinner was $16. Should I be looking into that again or would you guys rather do a restaurant deal again?
I will need to get this worked out in advance so I can book the caterer or the restaurant. There was a little confusion last year and some people either didn't remember to pay or decided not to eat and we were a little shor on cash. Thank to a few folks for kicking in to make my losses minimal. Just so it will be clear... I have to pay for the caterer in advance. The money comes out of my pocket and I recoup the money from the people who are eating. I don't make anything on it. But I do like to break even...
I'm not asking yet for who will be eating. Just opinions on whether to have a catered meal or a restaurant. And if catered, is $16 reasonable for all you can eat?
One of the many upgrades to the hotel is nice tables and chairs in the area we use for the dinner. It is a lot nicer than last year...
I liked the catered thing. it also meant that we didn't have to deal with waiters, tips... other patrons getting pissed at a whole bunch of Fiero people getting loud... :-P

I would prefer catered...............that way we can have the room all to ourselves. You know what happens when we have a gathering of Fieros people...................all hell breaks loose......LOL.
By the way...... some of the group from last years Coast Run..............thought I'd share the moment.
