I don't know, Rick... I set both of my radios to 3 and 0. I don't know if that is the same as plain channel 3 or not. My understanding is that although you can hear the other sub channels, they are encoded to keep your conversation at least semi-private. Maybe John or some of the others know the answer.
But for now I am on 3 and 0.
BTW - We are in the same position as usual. We were supposed tp ick up the Reatta today and the painters screwed up. They scuffed the trim to paint it body color and then one of the idiots in the shop masked it anyway and it didn't get painted. Of course, now they can't put tape on the new paint to be able to paint the trim. We may end up bringing another car yet!

Yes Ma'am! Color me lucky last year, thank goodness for the Sea Lions! I have a big long rationalization about why I'm not as stupid as that made me appear, but I don't think it matters. Now I don't actually know what Krav-maga is, but judging by Dale's comment on it, I don't think I want to find out the hard way.
it'll be ok...unless you feel the need to actually USE your kidneys and lungs...other than that...party on.

Using the subchanels will allow for less op for cross interference with the radios. The ones that I bought will allow for sub channels, and have a very nice set of filters that will take out a lot of the interference if the incoming transmission is being sent via a MOTOROLA transmitter.
Upon further thought, are there a number of others that are using the GMRS Freq's along the route? If not, a subset of a channel might not even be required for less unwanted "chatter."
Long story short – I got ya, you can use one of mine.
Dale: Frequencies should try to stay between 462.5500 MHz - 462.7250 MHz as most transmitters will transmit at 1W as opposed to the o.5W when not using the GMRS frequencies. This will allow lambda to reach farther and for those that venture a bit ahead / behind the pack they will have a better chance of staying in contact with the group as a whole.
The transmitters that I have “say” 1o miles, but that’s in ideal conditions and not in the hills. Every little bit helps if it’s really needed. Just a thought.

Alright already.................pick one good channel with sub codes if needed and let's stick to it. Or we can all decide once everyone's lined up Saturday morning or the night before.
One more thing..............is it raining in your part of the world? Cuz, it's pouring here in LA area.

Alright... Since Rick is covered with the subcodes, we'll stick with 3-11 as original.
It has been supposed to rain here for the past two days but hasn't made it yet. When Steven got here last night to get his GT wheels, he said it was raining in L.A., but it never made it across the mountains I guess. Rie and I enjoyed the hot tub last night and watched the sky go from totally clear to totally cloudy but never a drop of rain.
Guess I'll know by this afternoon which car we are bringing. Everyone cross your fingers for the Reatta.
Played golf this morning and it's starting to clear up here now. In Santa Monica/Venice area that is. Got a confrimation this morning that the West Coast Boys are leaving tomorrow morning for the Coast. As far as Chet, Roy and I are still up in the air on what time we're heading up. But, we are hoping sometime before dark. Hey Clark if you're listening I will call you for a definate time if we can hook up and caravan with us tomorrow. PM me to let me know where we can hook up along the 101 or call me on my cell phone.
SEE YOU GUYS AND GALS TOMORROW AND HAPPY DRIVING............................

Kit.. Thanks for the offer of raffle items! We will gladly accept...
Jess.. Thanks for finding about about the WCF bunch. So you think you are going to be getting a late start on your way up? VenturaFiero was looking for a caravan.
Well, it's official. There will be no Reatta at the Coast Run. The idiots that screwed up painting the moulding were not able to get it fixed in time. Looks like we'll be coming in Marie's Miata instead.

Way to live dangerously Dale. Take a Miata to a Fiero run
Songman, Jess got hold of me today and we are hooking up in Ventura , by the way Jess my name is Clive not Clark (hehe). My other mate who is coming will be work late so he will not be joining up for the ride up, but will be there for the morning

This means that I don't know when I'll get started headding south, so please don't wait up for me. Have fun, be safe, and I'll see ya at the hotel...

Hey Dale it doesn't look like Roy Benjamins going to make this year run. Last minute emergency. But, hopefully he can figure something out. He will let me know by tomorrow if he is able to run with us. Chet and I are going to hook up with Clark (eh Clive) tomorrow for the caravan up. We'll probably get there around 7nish.
Breaker, breaker 3-11 got your ears on??? Come on back.

So he told me that they are going to get to work on it first thing in the morning friday and find out if its going to be an easy hour our two task or a multi day thing. Anyway he knows I need it for saturday and he told me he could call before its too late to get my car back as is without the scoops.

And also happy Coast Run day! Lots of activity on the thread last night. We got the Miata all shined up (cussing the painters the whole time for screwing up the Reatta.) Jen, Rie bought this car new. It was the car that I drove when I first came out here until I got the T-top out here from GA.
For anyone who has to cancel... Please call the hotel and cancel your reservation so you won't be charged.
I'm getting all the raffle prizes packed away, getting clothes packed, and trying to think of all the last minute things I know I forgot!
I think there is someone from each convoy that has my cell number if any questions arise.
Jess, some of us are planning to go have ribs at the Main Street Grill in Cambria around 7:00PM. They generally close around 8:00PM. If you guys make it to the area around that time, you may want to stop in for dinner first and then go check in at the hotel.
That's all I can think of for now. Back tp packing...
That is the one thing I always worry about having this event so late in the year. It is definitely at the beginning of the rainy season here. It rained in Bakersfield overnight but looks good outside now.
Who else is behind on getting ready to go? <raises hand!>
Songman, I just got finished cleaning the car inside and out. Im heading on over to your house in about an hour. Are we still leaving bakersfield at 1:00 PM

Yep... We're all scurrying around here trying to get everything done. We're already gased up and ready to go. There are two gas station right at the entrance to my neighborhood that have good prices if you need to gas up.

Late October is a better bet, weather-wise. But I'll be there, I don't care if it's raining like hell.

Mrs. Bear and I are going through last minute preparations. I was at the track (Thunderhill) yesterday, so I'm primed for some...spirited driving.

We talked about having it in October this year but it wasn't enough time to plan it by the time we talked about it. I've always done it in November as sort of a birthday present to myself. I think putting so much work on you for your birthday is kinda crazy now! haha
