I'm pretty excited and I love this run. My little patchwork fiero is ready to go also. She won't have a snazzy paint job but she is now fully dressed. Has all her fenders and the headlights go up and down and everything!!!

Mary and I will likely leave no later than about noon. Want to join us?

songman,
I am going to be meeting you guys in bakersfield. I am coming from ridgecrest, ca which is about 2 hours south of bakersfield. These questions probably sound dumb but please bear with me because im only 16 and this is my first trip i ever made out of town by myself. I am going to be coming up the CA-58. But thats all i know. If you wouldnt mind PM me and walking me through directions after i get on the 58 then that would be awesome. This is my first coast run and im excited, its just that i havent done any driving other than going to lancaster which is not saying much

Hey Daniel, Glad you are going to be able to make it. You can meet up with me here and follow along. Here is a link to a MapQuest page that will bring you right to my house. Basically, you just follow 58 until the interstate ends. You come to a light at a T in the road. Take a right and then an immediate left onto Stockdale Hwy. You'll go about 6 miles on Stockdale and then turn into my neighborhood. I'll PM you my numbers in case you have any problems. And you can also give it to your mom in case she gets worried...

Probably the GT. It's paint is s***, but it's a 5-speed. Better for the curvy road.

I thought about trailering, just in case "someone" blows up another engine, but I think I'll just chance it.

Hey Daniel,
I tell you what. I'll rent the room. If someone else needs a room to share, then the two of you can split it. If not, I'll pay the other half. I am sure that there will be someone who can take on the other half though, at least for one night... That is, if you wouldn't mind bunking in with a stranger. I know most of the people who might be interested and I wouldn't put you in with anyone that I can't vouch for...

Songman, that would be most appreciated if you could do that. I wouldnt mind you telling somebody else that they can bunk in with me. Dont worry though, i wouldnt leave you stuck with a bill that i was suspposed to pay. When you get another person to split the other half of the cost of the room, then let me know and then you just tell me how much i owe you and ill send a money order to you. Thanks a bunch for making this happen for me.

Dale, I cant belive that I havent given you a + yet.

I just corrected that no less than 2o seconds ago. Very cool.

BTW: I know, I need to get this horse in gear and get signed in - we even talked about it and Im still slackin. LSIT in 5 days so things have been VERY busy.

Lisha's been bugging me about it - I might just have her take care of it and ensure that it gets done right the first time.

Glad I can help out. We have been able to help a few people every year. I remember how it was when I was young. I used to take off to car shows with no place to stay overnight and hopefully enough gas to get there and back. Marie says she thinks I was crazy but I have just always loved cars... I know how it is to want to get there.

Allen, tell Lisha that I said I appreciate her staying on you! We've got one week left on registration. Of course, people can still come that aren't registered, but they just won't get to participate in everything.

Ok Paul and Steven, sounds good. Anybody got a favorite place around Aptos? My house is pretty easy to find if you want to do that, or we can pick a parking lot or something like that. Makes no difference to me, so I thought I'd let you guys decide cause I'm the closest and can go anywhere in Aptos with no problem.

Alright.. I have an extra room rented for any of you youngsters that want to share... It is a family room that has 3 beds in it so if three of you split, the cost will only be $20 per night each. Daniel has the first spot. Anyone else need to join in?

Good deal, Clive! Remind them that if they want dinner, the last day for registration is November 1. The dinner is catered and there is LOTS of good BBQ chicken and tri-tip. The cost is $20 per person.

Yep, Friday and Saturday night. Since you will be convoying in with me it won't be any problem with you getting there first and not being able to get in since the room is in my name.

Anyone else need a spot to bunk?

I might.
I have a room reserved for thurs, fri, sat and sun as I had planned on spending more time there but I may be making it a solo trip just for the run now and since being alone I wouldn't spend anytime in the room anyway this sounds like a good idea.I would certainly prefer the original plan and itis in the air but I'm close to making the decision myself. So I will with in a couple days

Songman, sounds good to me. Yes, since i am convoying up there with you then i wont have to worry about getting lost either

Badphukcinphish-If you do decide to take one of the beds, then you and me split the room payment then just PM me so i know whats going on. Now if we could just get one more taker for the third bed then it would only be 20 bucks a night instead of 30

Dale--Jerry and I will be there Friday night and for lunch Saturday, but not for dinner. Since we will have already been on the road for a couple of days prior, we'll probably cruise back to the Bay Area w/Karl and Kristine after lunch. Mrs. Bear is making the Jafra raffle prizes real pretty now and I'll pick them up and get them mailed to you in the next 3-4 days.

Rick and Jen--So is the Fresno area group meeting at your house in Hanford on Friday? Let me know where and what time and I'll map it out and look forward to joining you all if we can.

17 days!! Wahoo!!

More later...

I could always do again, like I did last year for Westfest. Had my laptop (with built-in mike) and webcam setup outside near Sideris' car for a bit, and using the fieroswest yahoo ID, I had the show going while the judging was going on. 1st time I tried it, and had about 20 emails from people saying it worked great! I could do that agin!

Do people have to have a Yahoo ID to see that, Goober? If not, that sounds like a good plan. I'm also going to have my laptop setup for anyone who would like to order T-shirts and things.

If you guys know for sure you are coming, why not come on over to the registration page and signup? November 1 is the deadline if you want to be able to have dinner and stuff. I really need a good count on this... Thanks.

There might be one more that can bunk with you all. He just pm me and is interested in going. I've not met the person yet, all I know he resides in Ventura somewhere. I did pm him and informed him that there's a room available. So with that it looks like we have another one going.

Well it looks like Roxanne and I arent going to be getting to the Run. The Fiero broke down today on the 5 freeway, and I havent diagnosed the problem yet. I dont think i would be comfortable driving that far, and also, I believe I have to work the night before and I would be way too tired to drive that far. But everyone have fun without us...
