haha.. Congratulations you two! I used to tease about getting married too. After 511 days, 10 hours, 2 minutes, and 12 seconds I can tell you that it is the best thing I have ever done in my life. (Yes, I converted the countdown to our wedding to a countup since our wedding on the website. http://www.multimediamemories.net/wedding/ )
We just got our new shocks in so now we have something to hurry up and get done before the run. Gotta be under pressure to get something done! Wouldn't be normal to have nothing to do to the car before a drive. lol

31 cars registered so far..Still about 3-4 out there that I know who say they are coming but not registered. This is obviously going to be the biggest Coast Run ever!
I'm still working on items for the raffle. If anyone knows any vendors who might want to help out the event and a good charity, feel free to hit them up. We really had a banner year last year with all of the donations and with all of the catastrophes that people are donating to this year, we don't have as much as we did then.. But I am still working on it and I do have some great items already.

Dave,
As of yesterday I hadn't gotten them yet. Somehow my wife ended up with both mailbox keys so I haven't been able to check today. I will keep you informed.
Aight, I'm in for saturday afternoon and night. Steven, Paul and I will meet you guys at the Steinbeck Center between 11:30 and noon. I'm going back to San Simeon with the run, its too much fun to pass up. I've arranged lodging, so that extra bed is still available to someone else.
Side note: Dale, when I was registering at fiero-performance.com, I tried to look at the pictures and both galleries gave me a "Not Found" error.

Yeah Scott. I need to go in and fix those links to the directories. Just haven't had a chance to do it yet.
So we only have one person for sure in the extra room I rented. Are there any others who want to join in? For two people it would be $30 per night. For three people it drops down to $20 per night. Not bad on the old travel budget!
Oreif, I did get the door tabs today! I appreciate it! I am sure there will lots of people who would love a chance at a set of those!
Counting Scott, we have 32 cars registered so far! Still might get a few more registrations. People are just starting to get home from work on the West Coast.
Well folks the war office just gave me a pass to join in on the fun! I’m all registered and booked. I’ve been following the thread and I seem to recall that Kitskaboodle was looking for some caravaners. Drop me a line…

I'm coming down on friday now. Had planned on getting there on thursday to spend some time on the beach but now it is a fri/sat gig. So anyone coming from my way to drive down with on friday. I can go early or late.I usaully take 680 to 101 all the way down. I'm pretty excited and I love this run. My little patchwork fiero is ready to go also. She won't have a snazzy paint job but she is now fully dressed. Has all her fenders and the headlights go up and down and everything!!!
Badphuk, I'm in San Ramon. You'll be blowing right past me on your way down. I got Friday off so I can leave anytime. We can hook up, then meet up with whoever Kit has collected in Fremont. BTW, I bought my car from a couple in Discovery Bay so you might actually recognize it. Marty

Songman, I hope this isant to late but my dad just told me tonight that now he is going to be able to come on the run. So please add him to the list for dinner, saturday night. He is going be coming up with me on Friday morning and we are coming in my 87GT, the yellow one, that were replacing the clutch in. So he said that he could take the second bed in that room.
Say what? Neg, I'm going with you guys saturday morning, then finishing the run with the rest of the group. I was considering just going for lunch saturday, but I've decided to go back to San Simeon with everyone.

Just an idea here....it seems that a few of the bay area people are coming down 280, 680 or 880 to 101, correct? If so, a convienent rendevous point (for the south bay people to meet up with you) would be a major exit off 101 in San Jose. How about 101 and Tully? There is a three story Chuck E. Cheese right off the freeway. You cant miss it cause that mouse in the window is three stories tall! Any other ideas? How about you Whuffo?
Have you written up a list of stops, rough times and mileage for the trip? I'm trying to guesstimate when I should head out to meet y'all... I'm gunna try and go south on H1 a bit and see if I can't spot a couple fieros.
Yeah. I'll be the bright blue MINI S going the other way... Janell
Well Dale, I'm glad that thing worked for you guys. And gldkarma, sorry dear, but I didn't get your email address in time! I'll PM you back with why I needed it!
--- Goobz!
Goobz--Sorry I didn't get back w/you in time, but thanks for thinking of us! I was off hiking in the City all day Saturday anyway, but Mr. Griffin does need a new TV. He can't see the scores at the top anymore! Maybe we could just go over and watch Dale and Rie's! We'll bring the popcorn and drinks!!
Dale--The Jafra raffle baskets put together by Mrs. Bear are really nice and I need to get them in the mail to you. I'll put my stuffed toy in there too to help with the packing. When are you leaving? Will it have time to get there?

Daniel - You're good. I have your dad down with you.
Bear, Pokey, Scott, Steven and the rest of you. Someone said they are planning to leave Hayward at noon. According to Mapquest it is about 3 hours from Hayward to Paso. That would put you in Paso in perfect time to meet up with those of us coming from the East.
Janell: I have not done the complete list yet but it is going to be pretty basic this year. We'll leave the hotel at 8:00AM. First stop will be Gorda about 8:45AM. The the next stop will be the 'State Patrol Overlook'. Not sure of the time. We should reach the restaurant in Salinas between 11:30 and 12:00. On the way back, the first stop is the Big Sur River Inn. Time will be dependent on when we leave Salinas. And the last scheduled stop will be the Sea Lion stop. We should be back to the hotel by 5:00PM.
Jeannie, Actually you could ship the stuff direct to the hotel and save me from having to pack it over there if you want. If you want to do that, send it to: Courtesy Inn Attn: Dale Houston 9450 Castillo Drive San Simeon, CA 93452
I've got 34 registrations and I still know of a few who said they are coming but apparently plan to have dinner elsewhere. It is definitely going to be a good Run. We'll have to do a good job of parking this year to get so many cars into the parking areas we have along Highway 1!
I just want to say thanks to everyone who is helping setup different caravans, donating raffle items, helping with planning, and otherwise helping make this Run a success.I honestly didn't know how the Run would go this year and I am glad to see so many people working together to make it the best one yet. Thanks.

I have 47 registrations for dinner. If there are any mistakes please let me know ASAP. I am giving final numbers to the caterers today. As a reminder for anyone who missed it in this long thread, dinner will be the same as last year. BBQ chicken, tri-tip, mixed green salad, BBQ beans, fruit trays. If everyone remembers, it is all you can eat and there is LOTS of food! The price is $20 each. I will have my final list when we get to San Simeon and will have the dinner tickets. I will be available Friday night and all day Saturday during the Run for people to find me and get their ticket.

Nope, not one yet....er, I mean except for you. On the plus side, there is still over a week for the bay area people to respond. If nobody replies, I will still meet ya at the big mouse (not Mickey, hehehe..) I would think a good time would be 12:00-12:30.....
On another subject: I think it would be helpful for EVERYONE who has a GMRS radio to have it on the same channel BEFORE we all take off. It would be very handy to have all of our radios preset to the same channel. (such as channel 15-1 or whatever is not used a lot) This would be extremely helpful when meeting up with the various caravan groups.

My radios have been charging for a week and are ready to go. They are still set on Channel 3-11, which is what we used last year and it worked fine. We can stick with that again or change if people feel the need.

If folks want to meet here in Hayward, that's fine. I'd like to be rolling at noon.
As for the radios, I normally use channel 7. It's a GMRS channel, as well as FRS.

I think anything between 1 and 7 is both GMRS and FRS, but I'm not sure... Whatever is best for everyone involved. I know that some radios don't have as many channels as others.

One more thing... As most of you probably already know, cell phones are mostly worthless along our route. We need to depend on radios and each other. I was telling Marie the other day on the test run that we were totally on our own. Even though we have Premier AAA, we couldn't call them from up there if we were to break down!

The plan for north people coming down saturday (CaliforniaSpeeder9, Steven Snyder, and myself so far) is as follows: We will meet at my house in Aptos some time before 11AM. We want to leave my house by 11, as it is roughly a 45 minute drive to Salinas, putting us at the Steinbeck Center around 11:45, right about the time the rest of the group shows up. Then we all go to lunch.
Steven and myself are planning to go with the group back to San Simeon for dinner and festivities. Paul, as I understand, does not have Sunday off, so he's headed home after lunch.
My question is this: Which parking garage are we going to the top of? I was in Salinas the other night and I notice they've built a new one down town since last I was there. Is this garage attached to the Steinbeck Center, or is it near by? As I understand it, Bob (rgeeinc) was trying to find it on his GPS and having a little trouble, but he did find the Steinbeck Center itself. Dale?

As you go through Old Town Salinas, 68 becomes a one way street. It dead ends right into the Steinbeck Center. Chicken Scratch Flats is attached to the Steinbeck Center. As you come to the dead end and see the Center in front of you, turn right. It is a one way so you have to turn right anyway. The parking deck is directly ahead of you. Go all the way to the top.
They have a strange system for paying (even though we are not paying because the first two hours are free). You will take a ticket as you go in. Make sure and take the ticket down with you because you have to punch the ticket on the bottom floor before you go back up. If you don't do that, they charge you.. Kinda strange but it works.
Scott, have you heard from Mark to see if he is coming? I know he mentioned it but I never heard anything and I didn't get a registration from him.

Ok, I know where it is. I was wondering where Chicken Scratch Flats was too, I didn't recall seeing it downtown, but I wasn't looking either.
I haven't heard from Mark lately, but Janell tells me that he wants her to take a lot of pictures for him, so I would venture to guess that he can't make it.

Kit, I just looked up the Chuck E. Cheese locations and found that there are two in SJ. The address of the one by the Tulley exit is 2445 Fontaine Road. Mapquest says that it should take me 40 minutes to get there from my house. It looks to make more sense for me to head straight there rather than diverting (west) to Hayward first. The question is, are the Hayward people planning to meet down there as well??? Marty

Well I booked my room for me and John (jurso), so looking forward to getting up the coast. Car is up on stands and I am checking it over to make sure that it can make the run, working on the code 32, ( I have read the info on the forum and work through the problem).
In the mean time I called Kooljess to find out about people driving up on friday and if we can get the group together ( left message). John and I are in Ventura and would be able to leave around 1200 - 0300 pm, so should people wish to make a plan to get hooked up along the way, like the north group are doing, please let me know. :-)

I've just been reminded that I have to be in San Jose at 9AM Sunday morning next weekend, which presents me with an obvious problem. I can either not go to San Simeon, or drive home after dinner saturday, and I just found this all out so I haven't decided yet.
Dale, did you give the caterers a final count yet?

It's a no go on the others for dinner, they are going to be headed out to the local resturants to do the "date thing."
Depending on how their date goes, we may have to take you up on the spare room!
A question about the radios:
What kind should those that DONT have one look into getting so that we / they / myself actually can find out whats going on? Links to sites with the radios would be great as well or locations that we can pick them up locally might be better - time is getting really close!

No problem, Scott. But I still figure you could make San Jose by 9AM even if you did join us Saturday night. You'd just have to leave a little early and fly up the 101 to get there.

We have the Motorola T5950s. They are FRS/GMRS. I bought them at Costco but I don't know if they have this exact type anymore. Costco does usually carry some sort of radios though. We gave around $70 for these. Below is a link with specs and reviews of the radios we have. The page says they are available at Radio Shack.
