As all of you know I have been very busy and away from from home in the last past month. The Widow has been sleeping for a long time... and winter is coming !!! I have ALOT planned for this winter and I'm now working on "The Widow Revamped" All my hundreds of pics are presently being sorted and resized for the new coming thread. Should be soon on this forum a two to three year heavy duty project from the ground up... and I wll be thinking OUTSIDE the box ... anyways here are a couple of pics of what I'm working on for the original Widow ....

I ordered a 6 inch Edelbrock air filter that will fit in the below air intake bowl ... I'm fed up of seeing the V8 sucking up hot manifold air into the carb ... so ... I'm doing an RAM AIR intake ... you can see in the below pics the progress

Sawing the stands off the stacks so they can be welded into their holes...

Here is a basic pic of what I'm aiming for ... My spare decklid will be cut out "Shaker Style". The stacks are all the same height and the air intake and stacks will be powder coated RED. I've used only 6 stacks so that the shaker will be centered on the decklid ... you can also see that the LH side is empty but will function as a resonator box amplifying the carbs intake sound. There are holes with tubes to let the water out in case of rain................... more to come ....

I also recieved my F1F headlight buckets but I will NOT be using 60 or 90 Hellas ... I will modify the buckets to use 4 x 6 HIDs 8000K ... you can see one in the left background....

And of course my LED Projectors to be installed soon !!!!

Are you sure this is an LT-1 from the early 70's in your fiero? You do realise nothing about your motor is LT-1. Your engine block is 1978 or newer as that's when GM moved the dipstick to the passanger side, 1972 was the last year for the LT-1. The LT-1 had a transister distributer with an exteranl can coil, you have a regular old GM HEI distributer and an old Rochester carburetor where as the LT-1 had a Holley with an aluminum intake manifold.

You do know that using the now standard net measurements those old LT-1's only make about 225-250 HP right?

What's shocking is that after 12 pages in this tread not one person has stated the obvious.

Seeing your provenance and your reason for this write up I can see why you wrote this comment.... you should get your facts straight Here's a link to help you in your ignorance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_LT_engine ....
LT-1 were ALSO produced for:
Y-body:
1992–1996 Chevrolet Corvette C4
F-body:
1993–1997 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, B4C and SS
1993–1997 Pontiac Firebird Formula and Trans Am
B-body:
1994-1996 Buick Roadmaster
1994–1996 Chevrolet Caprice
1994–1996 Chevrolet Caprice Police Package
1994–1996 Chevrolet Impala SS
1994–1996 Chevrolet Caprice Wagon
1994–1996 Buick Roadmaster Wagon
D-body:
1994–1996 Cadillac Fleetwood

This engine is from 95 or 96 and is NOT ORIGINAL ... and totally rebuilt with different fitting parts ... Eldelbrock intake mainfold and a right hand dip stick oil pan (can be ordered from ANY speed shop .... so whats your point GOT ALL HOT AND BOTHERED FROM MY POST ON ANOTHER FORUM !!!! LOLOL Never saw or heard from you before why now? ... I think you should just go back to from where you came from and leave this thread ALONE.... if you have no constructive critizism to make then DONT!!! Also I am NOT a mechanic ... I'm CCNA, MCSE, IT and what matters to me is "does it start and go" ...I couldnt make the difference between a LT-1 block or an LT-4 block (its not my cup of tea) Carl is the one who rebuilt totally the engine and informed me on its origin .... and you are you a mechanic?? If you are please tell me where you work so me and my friends can stay away !!! Have a nice day EH !!!

EDITED : Minor spelling corrections !!!!

Oh snap! now it's 95- 96 LT1? holy poop an old LT-1 was more believeable. That is most definitely not an LT1 nor an LT4 cylinder block and your heads are no where near that generation of the SBC. You have run of the mill 991 casting number cylinder heads with the small 1.72 /1.50 valves.

If your going by what your man Carl is telling you then you need to go have a talk with him because that dude totally ripped you off and lied to you because what he sold you is just a standard regular SBC.

Man I hate that when people come in your thread and try to pic a fight ... I want to make sure people here understand .... I have an SBC V8 when, where , why it was made or how strong it is I DONT GIVE A $HIT... It can have 1000 HP bored 2000 over with lifters and a drag car racing cam I still DONT GIVE A $HIT .. I paid 1000 for it installed with the parts I bought .. it has a racing cam and roller rockers so I could last a long time ....... how fast is it and what is my 1/4, 1/2, 2/3 1mile time I STILL DONT GIVE A $HIT either... I love this car and THATS WHAT IS IMPORTANT .... thats all ... if you come here to talk shop well we can I'm an IT specialist MCSE and CCNA certified that I can sling $hit all day long with you....but this thread is all about revamping my Widow NOT ON HOW FAST AND WHAT NAME BRANDS I HAVE !!!!

OK RANT IS OVER

as you know I received F1F headlight buckets from Synthesis ... these are a work of art !!! High grade quality ... I'm not the Hella type so I will cut the front off these to install 4 x 6 HID 800K Projectors ... I'm also moving slowly but cautiously on my air intake that a USA friend lazer cut for me ... here are pics of the work .. Got to take measurement so I can cut out my spare rear decklid

New face plate for the buckets being sized and drawn ready to cut out a new pattern

For what it is worth, an LT-1 is the old carbed 350, while and LT1 is the newer, reverse-flow, opti-spark EFI engine.

ESPECIALLY THOSE FROM THE OTHER FORUM.....pretty soon we'll have to give out our undershort sizes !!!! I'll correct all my posts and say its a F'N V8 .... thats it thats all ... that way the cry-babies wont come here to be pretending to be SPECIALISTS..... I think they are more '' King $hit of turd island'' ...... there is a proper way to correct the info people write ... others think I'll just pull there strings to get them pissed off .......I just think they're hilarious ......personnally when they do that I think they're just bunch of amatures !!!! LOLLL.......... OOHH got to go and read some more 3 stooges stories !!!! LOL

I'm with you, who cares what block it is.. You wouldn't believe the crap I got for putting in a NA 3800, and I'm totally happy with it. All that matters is we like what we have, and you're doing a great job on your intake. Can't wait to see the finished product.

I think that we spend so much time organizing to make things go quicker, that it all levels out in the end. I too like to close my eyes, and grab what I need.

Keep the pics coming.

Its easy a nice hot day or crank up the heat in the garage.. Or you can use a heat gun or hair dryer..a lot of patience, a few wedges to put into place and a sharp utility knife will get the job done..But go slowly very slowly and I dont see why you cant do it..

Been very busy lately and not home very often ... Got some pics up on my server of my headlight conversion ... as you know I bought F1F's buckets but I did not like the round look (personal choice) so I did a little mix and mingle .... I used F1F buckets and Tony Kania's 4 x 6 headlight upgrade with a HID twist ...
I measure over 20 times drew out the template and traced it on the buckets ...

Then I cutted on the line with a skill saw with a metal cutting blade .... I finished the whole thing with a dremel and a round sanding stone ...

The fit is PERFECT ... I'm gonna fiberglass the front with the fiero bottom plate so it looks clean (I photoshop the pic to see the end result)

A before and after pic.. I am going to use the 4 holes that are left for the adjustements ... Tony's method for using JB weld with the headlamps will be used .. will post pics once done ....

Got home late but had a couple of hours to install my new Fiero Warehouse lip spoiler .... but Krap I hit a snag ... the bolts to hold it down are 1/4 inch too short ... they barely show on the other side of the decklid and not enough for the nuts to grab on ... I'll contact Doug to see what may be the issue ... I am going to glass it in and extend the sides and make it a 3 piece lip ... It did stay on though so I can take pics... looks better than when it had a tall wing ... tonights pics ...

Doug tells me that bolt should be around 1 inch ... uhhh

more tomorrow I'm gonna make a template for my new decklid .. it will be cut out for my RAM air intake (shaker style) that you can see in the pics ...

Maybe I can get Kathryn up here to do a little cutting and welding ... It would probably come out top shape !!! ... Seeing that the frame will be chopped and stretched I'm really wanting a perfect rustless frame ... must be the picky old fart in me ..
... please send Kathryn my regards and to you sir a firm hand shake ...

regards
Danyel

Well Fiero season is now over ... The Widow is in for another winter transformation.... I got my 4 x 6 HID (F1F) buckets in and working all that is left to do to those is sand and paint them black .... here are a couple of pics

In her winter resting place she's gonig back up on jacks ...

RH old.......................... LH new

LH Side View of old and new

Both new .... now looks ALOT better no more Froggy eyes

Lights off ... but up ... New light button will install DRLs soon

Got lots to do this winter ... swaping in an F40 six speed and I'm takin out the fastback and modding it to notchie with fastback style tail lights (one piece LEDs).. MORE TO COME !!!

Falcon_ca ... yes I based my intakes on California Kid's set-up ... I couldn't afford a Hilborne set up so I went to the next best thing RAM air shaker style with velocity stacks. You will see in future post a look a like to California Kids decklid. My intakes will be chrome RED and will be suckin in cool fresh air instead of under the decklid hot manifold air ...... you can also see my intake has an empty area which will act as a resonator as the carb sucks air.....
