Ohhhhhhhh! I see gotcha. I knew there would be a new main reason. Crazy fast huh? Your car runs 12.2 in 1/4 thats awesome, but uh did he have to sell his C5 too? Keep those main reasons coming!

Cali Kid, I am going to cut my crap for just a sec and be serious. Your car is an inspriation as to what the Fiero can become. I used your car in an example not because I wanted to put it down, but because I consider it to be "ultimate fiero" as far as performance goes.(Ski and Kameo get the ultimate fiero in the looks dept). Anways, my problem is that somr people have a poor grasp of reality. The 2.8 is a comparable car to the 944 in a straight line, and the 88's ARE comparable in the curves. BUT here we have a guy saying a duke is comparable to the 8v 944 I could give a crap less if it for fun. I get sick of hearing what a "beast" it is. CrazyDave was right when he said that people need to quit throwing that term around. If it's the "average joe" duke then it's about a 90hp car. The Kia Rio puts out 104hp....See where this is going?

\m/ \m/
You know what to do....

My post's lacked the humor due to written word, had we talked it person it would have been a very fun conversation. Just a little friendly jousting between members, no offense taken.

Agree that there are members here that think they got the neatest thing since sliced bread and will exaggarate some times. I just don't take those claims serious at all, many times they are beaming with pride of their car, and get a little carried away.

I doubt the Porsche Racer still has the C5, and by the way the Fiero 350/400 would smoke it. He bought it new, but it's probably got a ton of miles on it by now. Haven't swapped notes with him in just about a year, when we do, it only about the Fiero, but I'm sure he's driving something cool!

I do appreciate the compliments you wrote on my car, Thank You! Just goes to show that even some good stuff can come out of the Trash Can.

Ok, so the Fiero is a 2V and the Porsche is an 8V. But the Fieros intake valve is much bigger than the exhaust, and the Porsche intakes though it has more they are however much smaller. The Porsche is also a much heavier vehicle at around 3600lbs compared to the Fiero at around 2700lbs.
Bottom line is that it's two different ways of doing the same thing. So, whats your point?

....and if you don't like people posting their sigs, too bad

I am not worried about my ratings bar, it's trivial to me. Life goes on....Now on to the topic:

Let's see the web site jojo. From http://www3.us.porsche.com/english/usa/company/history/models/80.htm "1982: Porsche extends the range by introducing the 944 based on the 924 but featuring even wider wheel arches and a four-cylinder Porsche engine (2479 cc, 163 bhp/120 kW)-

From http://www.porschedecals.com/model944.htm The model weight never tips 2700 pounds from '83 to '89 according to them.

From Autotrader: Curb Weight 2,778

Fiero5, I will be the first to admit Jordans car is still lighter(than the 944), possibly sub 2400 for curb weight depending on what year it is.
I think it's great you and Jordan have a project together, I wish you luck in your race and realize it's for fun. So what bugs the crap outa me? Well let's review. I have a 2.8 86gt, there is also a 944 sitting right next to it in the drive way(brother's car). The GT will launch much harder than the 944 but the 944 catches up quickly and has much higher top end. My point? You claiming the duke and the 944 are comparable is like claiming the 2.5 Fiero will hang with the 2.8 AND I would have been just as harsh if someone was running around saying a 2m4 was "comparable" to a Formula or GT.
Once again, good luck and have fun.

If I was a lamb I would say "BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN ME"
But only if i was a lamb.

SO BAN ME BABY

Yeah, I guess I come off abrasive. Sorry. Hopefully we can talk in person one day. Lived in MI for the first 20 of my 24yrs, but never got to see your car in person.

I guess I gota learn not to take those claims seriously either....I can understand the beaming with pride deal though. I always have to take a look back at my car when I am walking away from it

Thanks. Jordan gets a blast out of doing stuff with his Dad, and his Grandfather too And to be able to do anything special with my kids, including Jordan is priceless.

Actually, I have a few 4 bangers that can also "hang" with a 2.8. Yup, I can stick to them like glue. A few on this forum can even back up that fact too. Ask Chester for example

Like I said many posts ago, I would not be at all surprised if the Porsche beats me. In fact, as we can see by the stats, he probably should beat me.
Where did I ever claim that I was going to beat him? But for him to possibly beat me, he is certainly going to have to work really hard for it. Yes, it's a Fiero 4 banger, but this baby is quick and fast.
How fast? We shall see

later

See saying a car is "quick and fast" is sooooooooo subjective. Cars that run 17-19 sec in the 1/4 and have a top speed of 95mph are not quick or fast by general standards. But hey, maybe my expectations and standards are higher than most.

Anyway steve I am still waiting for the link to the site that says the 944 is 3600lbs....

Dude, what are you smokin'?
I am not talking about a 4 banger with a top speed of 95mph, unless you are numb enough to think that a cars top speed is litterally only what the speedo in the car can display up to LOL
If that's the case, then simply switching the speedo to a 220mph would magically make it then go that fast

As for the web site, all the ones I have found from doing a search here at work are coming up with a stock weight similar to the 2800 you listed. I can't seem to get the same search results I got on my home machine that showed the weight being around 3600lbs. So I opologize for the error. Obviously when getting info off the web, you should always try and get two scources/examples

No, what the hell are you smoking? I was being generous. I never said any thing about speedo's, learn to read. From http://www.trifocus.net/~fws/magazines/cd-rt85fgt.html The GT's 8.2-second 0-to-60 time and 119 mph top speed (Pontiac's claim) make it about three seconds quicker and fourteen miles per hour faster than the Fiero in four-cylinder trim

You said your car was "quick and fast". Sorry, but 17.5 to 19 sec 1/4 mile times are sloooooooow, and 105mph (119 - 14 = 105) just sucks. the 4bangers can't even keep up with most of today's econo car. It has nothing to do with changing you speedo....I don't even know where the hell you got that. Too bad you don't live in real world, FieroX has a quick car, Cali-kid has a quick and fast car. You have a 4banger. (Once again most data shows: 92hp, 90-105mph, and about 18secs in the 1/4) OR did you add somthing that would "magically"(your words pal) make it faster.(Not much can do that for the duke)

Oh I always check multiple sources. Thats why I am right. Your humble "opology" accepted. But it kinda sucks huh? You thought you had a much bigger weight advantage didnt ya?

Yeah, a car that can easily do over 120mph is a slooow car? If you were a little bit more intelligent you'd still be stupid.
I guess I should return this otherwise interestingly typed up comment to you now because someone has printed gibberish all over it and put your name on it.

CAN YOU READ. YOU SAID AND I QUOTE "THIS BABY IS QUICK AND FAST" My point is, the data I can find about the Fiero in 4cylinder trim proves they are not quick or fast.

I'd love to. Distance isnt a huge deal BUT right now I am going to school fulltime, and I work at the GAP dist. center here is Fishkill, NY, and will pretty much be working from 3:15pm-1:15am, till Jan. Call it excuses or whatever, but I gota take care of some responsibilities first. Otherwise I would love to take a trip some time in the near future and have some fun....
BTW, would it be 1/4, track, or what?

That's cool. I hear ya on the money and responsibilities. I am in that same boat right now myself
Track wise, I don't know yet. We have a few small ones around here but not sure what it looks like now with with fall upon us to get on one of them now. Maybe Boomtastic knows of one in Mass nearby that we could possibly meet up at some point? The problem is that until I can get at least one of these Fieros of ours to an actual track somewhere, I can't quote times and post slips. I keep asking people if they want to race, not to try and prove that the 4 bangers can blow away whatever else, but if nothing else to finally get some actual times on these babies. Not to mention how much fun it would be period knowwhatimean?

Nothing in Mass. There was talk about putting a drag strip on the Cape (you can bet I was all excited!) at the "old" Air Force base but it never happened. I think the base is still semi-active, so that's probably the reason. Then there was talk about putting one in Orange, MA but again that never materialized. Ugh! SOOOOOOO, you have NE Dragway in NH or Englishtown in NJ. Those are the closest tracks (to me at least). You can always buy a G-Force unit and play around with that. You'll get some close times, etc.

Oh, I spoke with Chester tonight when I picked him up from the airport. I asked him about this:

Well, then you either didn't actually talk to him about it or he is suffereing from serious jet lag. I guess he is forgetting about the little trip we took a few years ago up to OOB show, where my son and I in my Fiero5 (4 cyl) met up with him and Elvira at their old place in Newmarket NH, and then we followed him up the Maine turnpike in his rat to the show. As we were running late, we were zipping right along more than a "bit" over the speed limit
As Chester stated later: "Steve stuck to my bumper like a fly on $hit" and as both of our Fieros speedo's only went to 120mph, a relative of Chesters (don't recall now who it was) trying to follow us in a different rig said we were clocked at well over 120 mph during the time they could keep up.
It was in one of those old archived 4 cyl bashing threads I think, so anyone with good PFF search skills should be able to find Chesters exact quote.
I did a quick search myself and did find this thread with a reference to the fact as well that I followed Chester up the Maine highway at over 120mph in a 4 cyl: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Archives/Archive-000002/HTML/20030204-1-023175.html
So there Who is talking now?

Steve

Chester had his 6 cyl in his rat at the time we all blasted up the Maine turnpike. going to the OOB show.

I don't continually insult people. I call things as I see them. I got sick of you beating the dead horse about how fantastic your sons car is. If anyone talked about their car as much as you do, I'd begin to get annoyed. If it was your son that registered and he was saying,"hey, look what me and Dad did last night", no one on this board would say anything. Tell us about your Indy. Talk about any other car you have once and awhile. It would be fantastic.

Oh, and the reason that I have so many positives is because when I bring things up on the board, I do it in a funny way, not insulting. My sense of humour is very tongue in cheek. What did I say in my last post that was "insulting"? I made a joke about NOS and I altered your sig picture. You are talking smack no? Your car is slow, no?

Now, speaking of insulting, there is a little matter of, "I'd insult you back, but you're obviously not bright enough to notice "

In short, develop a sense of humour.
