Still waiting on Chris and anyone from the WCF bunch to decide if they are coming. You are the only one from their group to register (well, you and your buddies Roy and Chet). I hope they come anyway but it sure would make it easier on me if they would decide something.
I'm always a little let down by the WCF/L.A. area turnout. Most people we get come from the Bay Area even though L.A. is closer. I don't quite understand it. We normally only have one from San Diego and they aren't making it this year because of a schedule conflict.
I too am waiting for them to decide if they are going or not. It won't be the same with out them. Believe me I am trying to convince them everytime time I'm at the shop. In the meantime.............all system go with Chet, Roy and I also I think that Dean (the guy that have Chris West old engine) will be with us also. We are planning on caravaning early Friday (hopefully before noon) so that we can beat the Friday traffic. With that thought..................looking forward to seeing all the Fiero fanatics in San Simeon. Drive safe everyone!!!
Jess, yes, David is registered. I have only met him a few times so forgot that he was from the WCF group. We'll be going over sometime early Friday. I haven't heard what time the Northern caravans plan to come down but we'll do the same thing we always do and meet somewhere around Paso Robles on 101. I hope to go over kinda early myself because we usually don't get there till around dark and I have a lot to do once I get there.
Hard to believe it is almost time! I did finally put a new battery in the T-top yesterday. Still done nothing else on it yet though so I'll have a busy weekend.

What time are you planning to arrive at Paso Robles?
Besides the better chances for good weather, another advantage to doing the run this particular weekend is that daylight savings time doesn't end until Saturday night/Sunday morning. We will have more daylight at the end of the day on Friday AND Saturday. It also means we get another hour to PARTY!

John, personally I wouldn't mind getting over there pretty early. Of course, I know that some people will have to work that day. I would love to be able to leave my house around noon. That would put us at the James Dean Memorial around 1:30 to meet the people from the Northern Central Valley. Then we would be at the station at Paso Robles around 2:15 or so. That would still give us plenty of daylight before time for dinner. Let me know what the folks up there think.
I hope the weather works out for us. We're already getting rain down here quite a bit. It's normally not raining this early. But I am planning on a good run and beautiful weather!

So I got my shirts today, did anyone else's shirts come in 'extra green' ?
I went back and looked at the images on cafepress and saw some green on the 'silver' GT moldings and rims, but didn't think they'd be *this* green....just wanted to make sure I didn't get the short stick for the money I paid on these, otherwise they look awesome.
I took the fiero up in the berkeley/oakland hills today, swaybars and stuff feel awesome taking some little windy roads...I feel like a kid going to disneyland with all the excitement

No, that is the coloring. With the greenery in the background image, the green is supposed to reflect on the silver ground effects. I guess I was trying to be artsy so I did it that way on purpose. Of course, if you don't like it CafePress has a 100% return policy so you won't be out anything. Not saying you want that, but just reminding you.

If Chris West had a Fiero I'm sure he'd commit to going. Dodge pickup trucks don't do well on Highway 1 :-P.
I think the reason the LA people don't usually come up is because there is no real LA club. The only time we get together is at WCF BBQs. Meanwhile the Bay Area has GGF meetings every month. Everyone up there is relatively close so friends get together to go..

Last year Chris and family came in a Ford Explorer, Roy and Sandy came in a Honda, and me and Marie came in an Miata. He's our biggest Fiero vendor out here. He should come just to talk about his new goodies. That is not a put down of any sort. I just think it would be a good business move for him.
But there is a club down there. Why is nothing happening with it? I know the website is never updated but I figured that at least the members got together from time to time. I sure would like to get some more L.A. guys involved...
7 DAYS!!!

Has anyone talked to Chris about whether they are doing their December BBQ? I'd assume it would be on Dec 2. Our club Xmas party is on the 9th.

Chris still has hopes of making the Coast Run but still doesn't know yet. He said that a Dec 2nd BBQ was a possibility. I told him your party was on the 9th so he said that they would plan around that.

Songman and everybody else in SoCal - what we need is some content about members cars, mods and so forth. We also need some original tech info on products that work and do not work. Originality is the key, I think. Also need your favorite Fiero related links with just a bit of verbage about the company behind the product, etc. I will be posting some forms on the website that you can use for input (once I figure out how to do it).
Also, I talked to Chris West yesterday and he will not be making the run this year.
Apparently there has been some confusion and someone posed a question on a mailing list about why the Coast Run dates had changed.
This is just a public confirmation that the dates have not changed.
The Coast Run schedule is:
Friday: Arrive in San Simeon at your leisure. 6:30 – 7:00: Meet in Pool area. 7:30 – Leave for dinner in at Main Street Grille in Cambria. (They accept cash only!) 9:00 - ????: Hang out in pool area or on beach and talk Fieros!
Saturday: Main day of the Run. 7:00 – 7:59: Meet, line up cars, and meeting. 8:00 – Leave hotel for Carmel Valley. 11:30: Lunch at Baja Cantina. 1:30 Leave restaurant for return to San Simeon. 5:30: Arrive back at hotel. R&R until dinner. 7:30: Dinner in pool area catered by Pacific Blue Bar & Grill. Halloween party!! Costumes optional but more fun! 8:15 (approx): Charity raffle begins. 9:30 - ????: Party on the beach??
Sunday: Socialize and head home. No schedule today but there is a customary group that goes to Morro Bay for breakfast. Others may take Hearst Castle tours or spend the day shopping in Cambria or Morro Bay. Several caravans leaving for different directions. Members of GGF (and any others) are invited to a BBQ at Michael and Lorena’s house.
For those interested who will be bringing radios, we will use channel 7 again this year and will not use sub-channels since some radios don't have this function.
If there are any more questions, please forward them to me. Thanks.

If any from WCF are going this Friday (Jesse, Roy, Tas, etc....) can you please let me know when and where you're meeting up? I'll be starting out from Riverside.
TIA!

Yorkere, have you registered or do I know you under another name? I'm just going over my list of everyone who is coming so I can finalize everything with the caterer.
Either way, we're glad to hear that you will be joining us.

I used to maintain the Fieros West webpage, put together events, schedule car shows.... it got real old doing all the work for nothing, there would never be any feedback from any members let alone actually SHOWING UP. It simply took other clubs to show Fieros West members what a club is supposed to be, not simply shooting the 5hit at WCF, but actually GOING OUT and doing thing, events, shows, etc....
------------------ Former West Coast Fiero Employee
Clubs are tough to keep going. I learned that when I started the club in TN. It was a no dues club and I fronted all of the money for the things that I gave out. I put together events all the time. After the first couple it became the same 3-4 people showing up all the time.
That is why I don't do clubs any more. I just show up to events that people put together regardless of club. And I put together events from time to time and people are invited to attend. If they do, they do. And if they don't, they don't. The big thing that I learned is that clubs have to be fun and non-pressured. Car clubs are secondary to people's lives and they may not be able to show up for meets and stuff. I got involved with the Solstice/Sky club when it first started and they took all the fun out of it with all the rules and stuff. When it wasn't fun any longer I quit going.
It's a tough call on how much is just right for a car club. I don't have the answers. I do know that everything is so spread out in CA that it can be tough to get a lot of people together. Back east it is not uncommon for people to drive 600+ miles to an event. Out here it is just not that way. The San Diego folks always say they wish the Coast Run was in Southern CA. I thought it was... It is all about perspective. I just appreciate when anyone at all shows up. As long as they do, I'll keep putting it all together.

Everyone please take a moment to go check out the page of Coast Run supporting vendors for this year. If there is something you will be needing, please give these vendors your business since they support our Coast Run and our St Judes Charity Raffle. I have added quite a few to the list today and still hope to be able to add a few more before the end of the week!
Unfortunately we're not doing it this year. We hope to be able to make the trip in only two Fieros. We may have to also bring the HHR to carry raffle stuff but we are going to try not to. Looks like you GGF'ers are doing good collecting stuff for charities up there.
Speaking of GGF, tomorrow I'll be adding Golden Gate Fiero club to the list of supporting vendors for the Coast Run. Thanks Michael, for the donation!
Dale, I called your cell phone a couple of hours ago and left you a message about some directions. You probably dont have your phone on you so i was just letting you know i called.

Hey Daniel. Sorry I forgot to call you the other night after we got home from four wheelin. It was late. I was planning to call you this evening and got tied up on last minute stuff on Brianna's car. You know a girl has to have a radio! haha
We'll talk tomorrow for sure. I should be around all day. I got a new windshield put in the T-top this morning and I plan to go over it tomorrow to make sure it is ready for the trip. Call me or I'll call you. Either one...

Dale,
I figured that maybe you might have more room after all the donations are given away that you could collect some of those stuffed animals and carry them home? Oh well. We can work on it together on another project... maybe Westfest since it will be local in Monterey.

Absolutely! Anytime we can do something for a good cause I'll be glad to pitch in. Honestly Mary, it looks like I am going to have to ship the raffle prizes over there. I just don't see any way to get all of this stuff into two Fieros, especially since the two Fieros will also be carrying luggage for three women! haha... I've already made plans with Roy for us to meet another time for dinner so neither of us will have to worry about transporting his stained glass. Marie has a couple of those sitting around that she has made but I doubt we'll even bring them. There is just too much danger of breaking them, plus they are hard to pack both for us and for whoever wins them.

What no stained glass? You're leaving the stained glass? Oh no!! You have to ship the stained glass or something!! Wrap it up and slide it behind a car seat... You can't leave the stained glass behind!!!

haha... We'll see. Even if we don't bring one, it don't mean we won't be giving one away. Quite a few of the things that we are giving away will have certificates that the winner can send in and have the prize shipped to them. It is exciting to have the stained glass there but it is such a pain to transport, both for us and for the winner.

Oh I've thought and planned the costume. The problem is having the time to "make" the Halloween costume! Then the next problem is having the space to fit it in the Fiero!

Well it looks like Roy Benjamins, Chet Adriano, David Dean, Bob York and I are going to caravan this Friday. Anyone else on our way up to San Simeon want to hook up with us along the way??? We will be traveling through the north 101 to the 1 at San Luis Obispo. Let us know so that we can plan ahead on where and what time we should all meet. Our caravan starts at the West Coast Fieros before noon (we are hoping earlier than noon) traffic willing we should be at the Courtesy Inn in about 4-1/2 hours. Patti and I are taking our mascot with us so there maybe a few stops along the way. See ya all there!!!
Jess, I just got word from David that he is not going to get to go... We'll add him to the list of friends that couldn't make it that we toast to Saturday night.
We'll probably be getting to the hotel sometime around the same time ya'll are, maybe a little earlier. We're leaving my house at noon. The first meeting at James Dean Memorial should be around 1:30. We'll hit Paso Robles around 2:15. If our Northern group is running on time, we should be at the hotel right around 3:00. We'll be in room 241 as usual so if you don't see us around when you get there, give us a call.
