The Boys at WCF and I are leaving Wednesday night for SEMA and heading home Friday after the show. Anyone else going are welcome to hook up with us. We are staying at the border (Whiskey Pete Hotel and Casino). It's cheaper and makes more sense.
What's the count down on our Coast run??? How many more days left before our shindig??? My count is 17 days.................
sorry it took me so long to respond, pokey asked about how much coke I drank...really couldn't say, was mostly too busy on the car.
I finished up the car last week....mostly. After getting home from west fest, I drove the car about another week and was hesitant to check on it's condition. So mid june I pop the decklid...CV joint had let loose grease all over the engine bay and motor mounts were horrible, not to mention some issues with the rear brakes. Swapped the axle, installed some sway bars, poly mounts all around and poly through the rear suspension, take care of the brakes and get a realignment done.
Only remaining issue: new front sway bar (addco) it just doesn't clear, if I do a 3 point turn, the wheels (not tire, wheel) hits the bar....which feels really awesome </sarcasm> in the corners bouncing off the wheel weights. I'm in contact with addco's technical department to resolve this, but probably won't happen before the coast run. Its very drivable, sway bars are awesome (as long as I take parking manuvers easy) planning to take it as is to the coast.
So I think that's everything other than *goes off to orders shirts now*

For those who plan to meet us on the Northern end of the Run on Saturday...
We will be arriving at the Baja Cantina restuarant in Carmel Valley around 11:30. They have a great parking lot and are a car themed restaurant. Their contact info is below if you need to call or Mapquest to get there.
Baja Cantina Valley Hills Center 7166 Carmel Valley Road Carmel, CA 93923 Tel. 831-625-2252
To make things easier on both us and them, we will be selecting from the full menu, but we will be do 'table checks' instead of individual. They first offered us a buffet that would have been around $21 per person but I asked them about doing it this way so we can all get what we want and at the price we want. So... Sit with someone who you won't mind spltting the check with. And gratuity will be included in each check as if we were all on one check. We will have two servers that are assigned to our party. They will be working their @$$e$ off the entire time we are there trying to take care of close to 40 people so lets all understand that and be patient and polite. I told them that we had plenty of time and we could use the time to socialize so we wouldn't get upset over the food coming out at different times.
Now if I can only find time to work on my car! I hope it will even start!

I showed this picture to Marji. We had a big laugh because my last name is Gilmore and I collect Gilmore Gasoline stuff. We are going try and get over there for dinner one of these weekends. And of course have her take a few pics of me in front of the sign...

We're still pretty bummed that you aren't going to be able to make it over. You know, you're only about 3 hours from your house to San Simeon. Dinner and the raffle are not till about 7:30-8:00 Saturday night. Maybe you can leave straight from work and at least come down for Saturday night.
Come on... you know you want to... haha
OR... you can start feeling bad about noonish and have to go home.. Then you can still meet us at the Cantina for the Southern run!

I thought about trying to make it down there for dinner saturday evening but the reality is that we typically stay late into the evening (on saturday for the "quarter end push") so that we dont have to work sunday. On a lighter note (and a little off topic...) would you believe I finally got a windshield for the Reatta? Yep, and it was only $100 bucks! The down side was that I had to drive practically to Mexico to get it! (And I'm not exaggerating here)

As long as it cost you less than $1500 for gas to go get it you did good! Did they install if for you or did you have to take it somewhere to get it installed? Hope it was a nice drive at least.

No, I picked up the windshield in my Toyota. The glass guy (in Chula Vista) wasnt open saturday. Heck, the wrecking yard wasnt even open but they met me down there anyways since mine was a special case. (driving all the way down from San Jose) As for the drive...all went well. Highway 5 all the way. Left 3:15 am and got there around 11:15 am. 8 hours up, 8 .5 hours back + plus $110-120 in gas. All in all not a bad haul, eh? Michael (Whuffo) recommended a glass guy here in San Jose but he wants $150-175 to install it. I might look around a bit more......

I wanted to find out who was interested in starting a caravan that would be heading back to the bay area on Sunday that would like to stop off at the Cuffneys in King City for a break in the afternoon drive?
The Cuffneys are joining us Saturday in Monterey and coming down the coast for the Festivities in the evening.
We had a wonderful labor day bbq at their home and they are offering their hospitality to us again.
Start a list of caravaners to let me know so we can plan something.

Hey Mary I had planned on staying into monday but this sounds like fun.
Do you think we might want to go to the Breakfast first in Morro Bay and then head up to King City for a BBQ lunch?
I would like to go the BBQ since I cannot make the Coast Run on saturday. Dont forget though that I will be coming from the opposite direction. (San Jose) Mary, let me know what I should bring food/drink wise. Also, what time to meet ya'all there...

Well, I'm glad you found a deal on one anyway. If someone could reproduce Reatta windshields they could make a fortune!
Well, as you know, a company called Plinkerton does reproduce them. I dont know if they are "making" a fortune on them but they sure as heck are charging a fortune!!

We'll try to work out all the details and timing of the caravans to King City for the BBQ at our meeting tomorrow night.
If there is anyone else interested in joining us we will post all the information here once we work out all the details.

I've got 18 registrations...Had 20 but two had to drop out.
Of course, there will be others who didn't register. Still waiting on Chris and anyone from the WCF bunch to decide if they are coming. You are the only one from their group to register (well, you and your buddies Roy and Chet). I hope they come anyway but it sure would make it easier on me if they would decide something.
I'm always a little let down by the WCF/L.A. area turnout. Most people we get come from the Bay Area even though L.A. is closer. I don't quite understand it. We normally only have one from San Diego and they aren't making it this year because of a schedule conflict.
Anyway... The ones who are there are going to have a great time! I think moving the schedule up is going to make for nicer weather. The food is all set up and I think is going to be the best yet. Vendor donations has been a little light this year but we've still got plenty of great raffle items! As always, we are going to have to bring two vehicles because all of the stuff won't fit in the Fiero.
There is still time if anyone else wants to register! I think ordering merchandise now would be very close, but hopefully it would still make it.
Thanks to everyone who is participating!

I want to put this out there and maybe those interested can get together and we can talk about it next weekend. The gentleman who owns Michael Smith's '88
I can't justfy buying this whole car, but there's a number of parts there I'd dearly love to have. I'd be willing to part it if I get enough commitments on other parts. Let me know if you're interested.

For those that are interested in the Sunday Caravan back to the Bay Area we plan to go to the Morro Bay Breakfast and leave about 12 noon. This would bring us to King City about 2pm for a BBQ lunch break. The Cuffneys have a wonderful home up in the hills with a georgeous view and they have graciously offered their hospitality to anyone who wants to join the caravan or meet at their home at 2pm. If anyone needs directions or an address please send me an email or a PM. to: msbear@pacbell.net.

Sounds like a fun time. I wish it weren't so far in the wrong direction for us. With us bringing 3 vehicles to the Coast Run that would cost a chunk for the fuel to head up that way. We do want to make one of the gatherings at their place though.
Mary, do you know if Michael and Lorena are coming on the Run? They are not registered.

Yes.. Michael and Lorena are meeting us in Monterey and coming down Saturday night for our festivities. Do you know if there are rooms still available at the Inn for Saturday night. I don't think they have made reservations yet. They were not sure if they needed to drive home and get ready for us on Sunday early or not. I told them that they needed to be there for the festivities first!
