I'll be reserving my room for the Saturday night tomorrow, I think. Soon, though. Have to make sure my newest credit card hasn't gotten hit by fraud, like my last two. *big sigh*

Manish says the best thing to do is ask for him when making reservations and that way there will be no mix ups. He is normally in from 11-5 Monday through Saturday. He says if he is not in just leave a message and he will call you back.

were you driving along main street in Santa Maria?
easier question to answer... is this your fiero: [it's clickable!]

Nope, mine's white and hasn't seen daylight for 15 months. Funny, tho. That one used to belong to an employee of mine. They sold it to a forum member here in Santa Maria (can't remember his screen name) I'll make sure he sees it.

Better get some more rooms! We came for the first half last year since we were already in Fresno and enjoyed driving with the gang from there, so will come for the second half this year and join you all at lunch Sat. and for the dinner Sat. night.
Not yet, Janell. I'm going to be looking at that. Of course, I would always love Gump's but it is just too hard to work out the logistics of parking and Gump's don't want to work with us as a group. I'm thinking of going back somewhere to Carmel Valley again this year. Nothing written in stone yet, just something I am thinking about.
As far as more rooms, I told Manish that I would love to be able to fill all 61 of his rooms this year. Probably not going to happen but it would be great! So far, he has no one booked other than us so it could happen. I'm hoping people will go ahead and register early to help us get our counts. The rooms can always be canceled and not cost anything if something comes up and someone has to cancel later. The best thing is to get your room reserved early so there is no chance of missing out.
I'm still out of town so have not been able to do any work on the website or anything else, but I hope to get the new design and the new registration form up soon.
Looking for ideas? I know of a really good mexican cantina place off of carmel valley road. they have lots of parking, and if you get in touch with their events coordinator they'll even block off parts of the parking lot for us. [I just checked.] They say they work with car clubs/large groups a lot.
We used Baja Cantina for the 1st Coast Run. They worked with us well but didn't seem interested in the last couple of years and wanted me to make deposits and all kinds of crazy stuff like that. Actually, they were my first thought if they were willing to accomodate us.
Black Bear sounds interesting. Rie and I will be making several trips over there between now and then to try out different places.
Baja is still on the list, as is Black Bear now. Whoever has the best location and is willing to work with us the most is where we will end up going. Chicken Scratch Flats, in Salinas, was pretty good last year except it was a long way and getting back to the highway was a fiasco and lots of people got lost. I want to make it simpler this year.

A friend and co-worker of mine is from the Carmel/Monterey area and organizes events for the Peninsula Harley Owners Group. She made a number of suggestions. I'm not familiar with them myself, but will just forward on the websites that look like possibilities:
These are both right next to each other at the Barnyard in Carmel, across from the Black Bear I think, and have the same owner. The others either weren't open for lunch Saturday or out of our price range.
Have fun--I know it's a tough job, but we're glad you're doing it!

Concerning the Chicken Scratch Flats......we would have to park in the city streets anyways as I heard we are no longer welcome in the adjacent parking garage!

Thanks Jeannie, I will add them to the list to check out.
Kit, the owner of the garage was a little miffed but we smoothed it out before we left and he said we were welcome back. I just don't think the extra distance and the in-town confusion is worth it. We want places that are easy to get in and out of.

Hey Roy! Glad you and Sandy are all signed up.. Are you gonna bring a Fiero this year?
Anybody talked to Bob Rutz lately?
Yeah, I talked to him last night. His car is in Wisconsin getting repainted (by firefox?). He just started a new job, and doesn't know if he can get the time off.

I know exactly how you feel, Roy. We didn't like it too much in the Miata either. I have no idea what I'll be driving yet but it will be somehow Fiero related... And we hope to have Brianna's car done by then too so she can drive.
I guess I need to give Bob a call and see what is going on with him. It's been a few months since I talked to him. I knew the car was going back East for paint but didn't know when. Thanks John.

Let's be sure to figure out a time you can bring it up, and pokey can work on it.

He plans to pick it up around the time of Fierorama, in September.

Making my reservations today, just felt a need to point out....
Did anyone catch that sunday the 29th is the end of daylight savings? (so says my calandar) No big deal, just wanted to make sure people planned around it getting dark an hour earlier for the return trip and getting out of the hotel on time.
Fiero is back in the driveway, but it shouldn't be there too long.
I know of another Mexican taco shop type place. I know the owner, and he said he could actually close the place down for us... no charge [a full place would be nice, though]. it's pretty cheap, food is great and it has lots of parking. check it out next time you come up here si te quieres...
Isidro's Taco Shop 3046 Del Monte Boulevard, Marina, CA 93933 (831) 883-1818
and it's easy to get to from Highway 1.

Great for people who like Mexican food.. I don't... So they have other stuff on the menu as well?
We're going over the weekend of September 8-10 to do a test run again. A few of our new HHR buddies are gonna come along for the ride.
Hard to believe it is just three months away!
Pokey - Let me know when you are ready. I'm available anytime except 7-30 thru 8-06. We'll be in Vegas that week.
I'm looking at a mid August completion date on the Hayward Job so right around there I will be wanting some recreation anyway and welding two Fieros together is my kind of recreation.
------------------ PLAY HARD-DIE FAST My instructor told our class before a big tournament once"theres four kinds of people, , sheep, wolves, tigers and dragons"We asked him what that meant and he said we would tell him what that meant when we decided what we were going to be. We are creating sheep because were afraid of the wolves. The tigers only take care of themselves and the dragons are starting to give up.

Thanks Chet...............I knew I can count on my good buddy!!! It looks like I'm "RIT 2 GO"
I'm grabbin' a beer with a buddy who works in Carmel tomarrow night, so I'll pick his brain for restaurant ideas. I assume we want to stay in the Carmel/Monterey area, yes? I mean, I could find places up here, but thats an extra 45mins of drive time each way at least. Not to rain on Janell's parade, but even Marina is making for a long drive compared to Carmel. Now that I think about it, theres a large shopping center/mall right off the freeway in Monterey, off Munras Ave. I believe. They've gotta have some kind of restaurant there that would work. All else fail, I know where the Dennys is in Monterey.

We're not leaving me very much time to get Brianna's car ready for the Coast Run. Not to mention that I am supposed to pick the 355 up on Aug 9 and it will be a mad dash to try to get it done at the same time...

Thanks Scott. Yes, I think we do want to stay in the Carmel/Monterey area. Anything much farther puts us in danger of not getting back to the hotel before dark, especially now that the Big Sur River Inn is such a popular stop and people like to stay there and hang out by the river and shop the shops. I think we have some good suggestions already, but the one that has the best food for the price, the best parking arrangement, and is willing to work with us the best is the restaurant who will get the nod.

Don't worry. Brianna's car is a one day job. We got music, tools, sawsall, lift, mig, parts and a sledge hammer. What could go wrong?
Brianna is Coast Run bound!!
As far as the 355 goes you are on your own. One miricle at a time for me.
