Sorry Jeannie.. That story don't wash with me! Clements is only 4.5 hours from San Simeon... You can go to your wedding and still make the dinner and raffle Saturday night. Dinner is 7:30 and might be a little tight but you can make the raffle I know and then do the drive North with people on Sunday!
BE THERE! (please....)
Ha! 4.5 hrs.?? You're too much, Dale!! Maybe by helicopter!! Ha! I don't think so, even the way I drive! Maybe Pokey could make it! You know how I hate to miss this, especially since alot of effort has just gone into totally rebuilding my front end so I'd be ready to go, but honestly we'll be out at this thing until 8 or 9:00 and there's just no way around it unless it's cancelled completely between now and then, and I don't anticipate that. There was another one in the same group of people for last summer that was cancelled and didn't surprise me, but I'm sure this one will hold. I still can't believe it and haven't even updated my calendar yet to make the change, but I might as well. I am truly bummed.
JC (need a smiley with a tear)
P.S.--Can't believe I own Pages 4 AND 5!! I'm catching up w/Janell!

Well, I am sorry to hear it, Jeannie. You and Jerry will be missed. I would hate to wish someone's wedding canceled just so you could be here... postponed would be okay though!
BTW... I got the travel time from MapQuest. Usually, I can do a trip in less time than what they say because I think they base their times on the speed limit and figured in stops. I don't know for sure since I have never done it... But if you can't go, you can't go so it doesn't matter.
Ah, so THAT'S why you're coming down here on Saturday? You're gonna owe me, big time. Next project should be diagnosing the 3.4, or re-engining the yellow Formula.
Let's not forget the club's 87 GT or 86 SE; they both need to get finished this weekend...

Somebody volunteer to go help bear! I am still paying storage on a car I sold him too that he's too busy to come get. Sometimes a guy can only do so much in the 24 hours a day he has... If anyone is going to be around Bakersfield with an empty trailer they could pick up the car and engine that he has down here. I'm sure he would appreciate the help.

The time is drawing near and we don't have hardly any sign-ups. Are high gas prices going to kill the Coast Run? We had such a strong start that I thought it was going to be a big year but it is looking kinda scary now...

Hey Dale--I kept missing Manesh and the first girl I called last weekend said I would have to talk to him, so I finally talked Joshua into cancelling our Sat. night reso just now. I did my best to make it very clear that it was just one night and one room for Griffin in the Fiero Club group, so I hope we ended up on the same page. You might confirm this w/Manesh if you are going over it w/him this weekend then. Have fun!

That link for the golden gate fiero wasn't working. I would be open for anything near you. San fran, sacramento, chico, fort brag. Thanks guys. I'll consider going to the one 200+ distance to do the fiero run but I have to put in fuel pump and outer tie rod. My car was one I got for free because it went into the sacramento river. so it's quite thrashed. but it's my buddy.
(don't know why the automatic link formatting isn't working for me, but hopefully you can cut and paste!)
Should be working okay--note that it's 'org' and not 'com.' There's a link there to join the Yahoo! group. Good luck getting your car together. If you need anything you have come to the right place! There is a lot of technical expertise, parts sources, and generally great people here to help you!
Oh, and thanks Dale--you're a love!!

We just finished the HHR Coast Run, which was really a practice run for our Coast Run. It was a great time except the HHR drivers seemed to want to drive 40 mph and enjoy the view. I don't like attempting the 100 mph version of the run either, but 40 mph is just too slow!
We all went to Bubba Gump's in Monterey. There was a big car show in town as well so we got to see lots of hot rods while we were there. One thing I noticed that may effect our Run... We past at least 15 cops during our run. Some CHP, some sheriffs, some police. At one point on the way back, If I hadn't been behind a slow Miata I would have been busted. It was on a straight and I topped the hill and planned to punch it to pass the Miata. Just as I did I spotted the white roof of the CHP car sticking up above the grass on the side of the road about a half mile away. As we passed, he put his radar down and got in his car and drove away. We very rarely have seen any law on this road but it appears that they are catching on.
We'll make one more practice run in a few weeks to get everything ironed out.

Oh yeah, Cherries Jubilee! We haven't been because I'm always busy working in September, but it's a long-standing annual event in the area as big as 'car week' in August when we go for the Pebble Beach Concours Tour and the Pacific Grove Auto Rally. Sounds like the contrast of the Fiero group and the HHR group is like the contrast for me with the Hudson Club. There is a proud racing history there, but on the whole they're older people just into appreciating their vehicles and cruising now. The weather must have been good and the scenery beautiful, I'm sure. Glad no one got a ticket.

Hey Dale, wish I knew you were in town! My friend Ted and I were down there today, though we ran late and missed most of the car show. I woulda tried to make it down earlier to say hi if I'd known.
Anyway, like I posted in the other thread, this year's Coast Run is the same weekend as the last major event of the season at Laguna Seca and I signed up to work it back in February. I was hoping to make it out to at least have lunch with you guys, but I don't know if I'll even be able to do that. I hate to miss the run, but I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Y'all take lots of pictures for me!

We tried to make our reservation today, and met the Courtesy Inn clusterf*. We asked for Manesh, and they said that he'd be back in a few minutes. We called back, and he'd left. We told them the group name, and they couldn't find it. AAARRRGH!

I never have any trouble with them. I just tell them what to do,how much to charge me, and where I want my room. You must be asking to many questions and not telling them what to do enough.

E-mail him at innkeeper@courtesyinns.com

I sent out some event reminders with a link to your website. I hope you get more registrations. Hey...I've got my hotel room but do we need to buy tickets or prepay for dinner on Saturday night?

No, I don't really want people to pre-pay. If I did that it would most likely be through PayPal payments and I would have to charge a little extra to cover the PayPal costs. I'll just sell the tickets once we get into town. The big thing is that I need people who sign up to have dinner to get with me and pay for the tickets so I am not short on what I have to pay the caterer. This year, the new caterer is supplying me with armbands that I will give out when someone pays me for their dinner. Anyone with an armband will be able to go up for food. The caterer this year is bringing a big BBQ grill and is going to cook on site. I'm really excited about it. I've been to his restaurant a couple of times and it is fantastic!
On another note, I finally got around to finishing up the logo for the flyers and merchandise. I'll have merchandise available online in a couple of days. Shown below is the official event design. As always, if anyone wants their own car on the design I will do it if you supply me with a high res photo of your car at a similar angle.
What do ya'll think?

Curly, I set up a few different ones for you. They can do them that fast but you'd have to pay the Rush charges. You can look at them and order at this link. http://www.cafepress.com/fieroperf
That is the best picture I had of your car that was close to the correct angle. If you have another picture you would rather use, send it to me and I can set it up.

Yeah, it will... I don't know if I have the hi-res anymore though. I think I gave you guys a CD with the hi-res versions of all of those pictures. If so, send it to me and I can cut it out again.. If not, guess it is time for our cookout so ya'll need to come to Bakersfield!
Thanks Mary. I appreciate you registering. Yes, it does make it a lot easier to plan things.

Only 6 more hotel rooms left in the block that are secure. After those are full, we can't guarantee a room at the host hotel. If you are thinking of coming, now is the time to get signed up. We're only a month away. We're a little light on vendor response so far this year so if anyone has any pull with a vendor, please feel free to help out. The supporting vendors we have gotten so far are not even the Fiero vendors other than Paul McKibben. Please take a minute to go to http://fiero-performance.com/vendors.html and support the vendors who are stepping forward.
Dale, I talked to sniper last night. He said he made hotel reservations but didn't sign up on your site yet, hopefully he'll get a chance to soon. He is definitly gonna be there. wooo hooo
Drove the Fiero to a cruise night last night and I passed the word out to a few people about the run that had or knew freinds with Fieros, I should have brought flyers!
