Pics would be greatly appreciated, mail is slow here, email takes almost as long. I haven't even heard of what ever this concept is, that's what happens when you live in the sticks I guess. Tried doing a search, this is what I got: Your search for "Synchrodihedral (Koenigsegg) doors" returned no results.

i'd be interested in a set, if the price was not too exorbitant, and the instructions thorough. i thought scissordoors were a little too flamboyant for the fiero, but these are graceful.

$850 at the most, but i still have to figure out how much its going to cost to make and all the electronics... but i can actually make these at a friends shop myself. so it will be easier for me... why $850? the electronics are expensive..

from an objective perspective, of not having any high-dollar mods on my GT yet, that's expensive. but i understand that the $800 or so represents your design work, time, parts, r&d, electronics, and manufacturing, so i can justify it. you have to sacrifice a little for what you really want, and i'll be doing some major sacrificing over the next few months, for these, and for the hella headlamp mod. please keep updating this thread, so we curiouscats can watch the progress, which is its own entertainment ^_^

I know I should just stay out of your threads and not say anything........but I really don't know how you expect anyone to take you seriously. You flip-flop around more than a fish out of water. How can you put a price on anything with out even knowing what it’s going to take to make them? Are you planning on getting a patent on these too ? How about the butterfly doors, or the lambo doors?? You know the ones you have been going to make for over a year now..
You know there is a market for any of these products. You don’t have to keep asking everyone what he or she wants.. All you need to do is actually made a product, test it on a Fiero, then offer it for sale.

I plan on making all 3. But it will only be 1 or 2 at first. And yes i will have patents on everything. I have a friend that is going to help me with the patents, he has a few himself, and knows what has to be different, etc... so please no posts about it being pointless to get a patent or that i wont be able to.
and as for the price, i have a guess at how much it will cost for these, i'm trying to find wholesale parts for the electronics so i can buy them in bulk cheaper. so after i find that, i will know the price! but it will be no more than $850, i know that much.

I wasnt going to say anything, but yea, try finishing 1 project first. I was all excited about lambo hinges for $400 too, until I realized the you didnt even bother finding out how much the doors weighed before promising a design, price, and finish date. I gave up hope right then. That was back on page 1 or 2 of the lambo door thread, which is what, over a year old and 10+ pages now, with fifty diffrent deadlines, carbon fiber, plastic, aluminum and a dozen other promised materials, and about ten diffrent prices.
Now you're telling people that you are going to build butterfly doors, and these, a virtual ballet of counterweights, pins, bushings, bearings, and drive motors?
Dont get me wrong, I applaud your enthusiasm and patience (SP?) but you need to set realistic goals and do some actual research before you start making promises and taking down payments. You get peoples hopes up then they sit there for months on end awaiting your promised product, only to have the date fall through

I just naturally assumed the other scissor-type doors operated the same way. Maybe I was mistaken?
Scissor or "lambo" doors just open straight up, like the blade on a paper cutter. Straight up and down. The Koenigsegg doors move out as they twist up.

A little bit of exhaduration there?
the price was a guess when I started out, I didnt say it would be that, I said it would be around that.
i'm not trying to just make a product and market it, I'm starting a business. Not just lambo hinges, thats already been done... I'm just making them better, butterfly hinges, its been done but i'm sure I can make them better, they will probably be last on the list to make, but this conversion kit and the lambo conversion kit will be first, and atleast 1 if not both will be available by the end of Jan. or 1st part of Feb. depends on the people making them for me. and I didnt promise anything. I've been working at this for a year and anyone that has ever made a product will tell you it takes a long time, and on top of that i have had little money to work with. I am not asking for a down payment for any of them, they will only be forsale when I have them already made and ready to ship out. I make these threads so I get feedback/ideas from the people who would buy them, which in turn helps me make a better product.

Damn - let's just follow along and see what he comes up with. It's good to see some enthusiasm for Fiero doors regardless. If you need some right now, it probably a good idea to go buy some. If you have time to wait, just sit back and see what AJ7 comes up with. It sounds like he wants some feedback on a few of the features since HE is building them and can adjust accordingly.
I'm not in any hurry, but it would sure be nice to replace these crappy Lambo hinges that came on my car. The Fino would sure suit some nice flying doors, too!
I'll be watching, and waiting - like most of the rest of us. Thanks, and keep moving with these, AJ!

i'd like to get maybe 10 people that want these before i go forward with making them.. just let me know, i can make these faster than the lambo kits because i have a place to make them here in town, but i will be starting to sell both about the same time.

Just a question regarding these incredible hinges. I noticed the Koeig..... site talks about carbon fiber doors on that particular car and struts without the electronic "do-dads". Would be easier and cheaper to make them with the struts instead of actuators? Will these hinges handle the weight of the doors without the actuators? Oh....maybe I just answered my own question. Just thinking aloud here. Can't wait to see these in production........Good Luck!
A potential buyer ($$$$$$$$$$ or lack of right now) waiting

They will only work with actuators . Cant say how it works yet, I'll post when I'm ready to sell. And the carbon fiber thing... it isnt really any lighter than a normal door. You should know they use lots of that on supercars anyway... These will be able to lift a door that weighs 110lbs (know any doors that weigh that?). In about 2-3sec.

Well some people may not like this, but its how it has to be..
I'm going to have to start making these first, Then i will start making the lambo ones(since i have to drive 6hrs just to get a proto.).
Shootin for first week in Feb. That will leave time for testing..etc..
Sorry for the wait on everything guys, but atleast i'm doing it
Wait, are you saying you are going to put the Lambo doors on hold (you know, the ones for which a 10 page thread already exists and for which members have been waiting very patiently), and make these first?

No offesnse, but are you really serious? I was finding it hard to take the lambo door thread serious because deadline after deadline has come and gone, now it is on hold until this new project is complete... Let's see you've been at the Lambo project for how long? So if we use that as a basis for your ability to follow a project to completion, how long you will work at this one before dropping it?
BTW, what maks the Koenigsegg hinges easier to make? The lambo doors look easier since the swing out then straight up. The Koenigsegg doors look like they will have to swing out then swivel to clear the front fender. The swivel (rotation) looks like it will be a challenge to pull off on a stock body Fiero.

To answer both of you, they are only getting put on hold for about a month they are harder to have made around here because I kind of live in the sticks! (If I lived by a city it would make things much easier, lol.). They have to be made by CNC, and I think it will be laser CNC. The closest place to me is 6 hrs away, Thats a long way to drive just to get a proto. then come back and test..etc. Then go back and have more made to sell them.
These new ones I designed I can make myself at my friends machine shop, He doesnt have the things I need for the lambo hinges but these new ones are a little more simple.. yes a CNC would be faster but I dont NEED it. After I make enough of them to pay for the trip to go down and have the Lambo hinges made, and a prototype and everything, I will.. It shouldnt take long. About 1 month after these I should have them up for sell. And i'm sorry for the wait, but anyone that has started a business from nothing before should know these things take time.. Especially someone who has been in product design/engineering.
If you dont want to wait then dont, but mine will be bolt-on and better than the other kits (plus I'm taking $100 off for PFF members). It has taken Alot more time than I wanted, Sorry but I can't help that.
P.S, Cliff, once I get a website up for these I'll be contacting you for advertising/sponser. (saw you put banners at the top of the page). Hopefully I can make more things for Fiero owners later on with my business.
