Wow, this thread is now eight years old! My old yellow 88 GT is way back on page two. Don't have that Fiero anymore but still have the wheels.

I figured I would chime in finally.

Here is my 88 Formula. 17" Mille Miglia MM11-2's on 245/45/17 rears and 215/45/17 on front. I've had these rims for 11 years and they are still flawless looking. I am kind of picky

And my old 87GT that I just sold in October.

So I've come to the conclusion that I tend to like wheels of a few different general styles/designs.
If I was going for aggressive, or simply I-don't-care-if-it-looks-modified look...

PS doublec4 yours is about perfect for what I'd aim for in a notchie, the spoiler - and probably the red - is probably what sets it all off. Your spoiler project was pretty dang cool!!

The wheels probably aren't totally what I'd go for, but the green/flat black sets it all off... I worked with a guy that had a white '90s hatchback Civic with green production wheels (don't know what 'line' they were since they have fifty-frickin'-million designations), it looked decent for him trading his sportbike for it.

[img]http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l154/Spillages/Fieros/2011-06-23162510.jpg

These are good 'performance stock' options - as in something that looks like it could come as a production wheel. When I was younger (under 20-25 or so) really flashy wheels used to impress me, but now the stuff that's slightly subtle (but is sublimely beautiful) is more what I'm into.

I'm not a fan of really flashy, chrome, or 'busy' wheels... not my intention to offend, it's just my taste and sometimes what the factory ordered is exactly what was required, some of the cars look great, they could just use different wheels. Examples:

On a closing note, there are a few cars that got it just right for me, for one reason or another...
qwikgta, got it right with both the Beretta wheels (I know this isn't yours) and the Enkeis.

RussSan, I'm a sucker for a wingless GT.

Alex4mula, these have a bit of a 'factory hot rod' look, similar to the STi Imprezas with gold BBS wheels.

I'd probably wind up going all night, a little tipsy and I get diarrhea of the fingers when I'm drunk, so I'll stop now lol

So...

Ok so Im caveing in and getting my rims n tires. I dont know alot about rims n tire such as offsets and depth and what not so I need some help. I have just done a bunch of work to my lil notchie 88 Formula and her suspension and still more ongoing... getting a nice satin matte black paint job as we speek as well. Still stock height and hope to keep it that way, if possible. I do how ever want to fit as much rim in there as fieroly possible so I'm thinking 20's since I read this is no prob when done right. I dont want the wheels to stick out or sink in past the body anymore than how they are now stock. So what size and all that jazz would I need to order this set in to get it the way I have stated. The rims I'm going with are pictured below 2 Crave Fiero no14's, the only size listed that would fit the 88 Formula(whithout going bling size, LOL) is the 18's or 20's. Please help me to decide WTF to get these Fiero rims in for my Fiero... LOL (yep the name of the set these are in is Fiero.... that may be another reason this particular set has grown on me.)

Also do you think the gloss black on the wheels would look nice with a satin black finish on my car or should I have them satin finished also?

I think those look good outside the 'rivets/bolts', I've never really been attracted to them, takes away from the 'clean' look. Gloss or satin is usually hit or miss with me, usually depends on the color of the car. If it's all black, white or some bright color, I vote gloss black, if it's a more neutral color I think a satin may look better.

Anyone have experience with XXR wheels. These are XXR 521 that might look nice on a future all black 355 spider.

If you check out the choptop MERA thread, those are the wheels I use in my photochops. They just happen to be the ones I've chosen for my build, 17x7 et 38, and 18x10 et 25, but I am still looking.

Hi Bob

I love the look. Are you sure the 18 x 10 come in 5 x 100? On their website I only see 18 x 8.5 with a 5 x 100.

I know you were looking more for flush wheels than lipped wheels Yarmouth, so have you looked at the XXR 530? They are the same spoke style as the 521's above except they are dished rather than lipped. They come in several diameters, widths and offsets with a 5 X 100 bolt pattern, including up to a 9.75" width on an 18" wheel. Check them out here: www.1010tires.com/Wheels/XX...inted/Chromium+Black

Thanks Blooz, they are number two on my list

What are your thoughts on going to the 9.75" in the back? You know what the final body style will be like. Can I push the wheel in another 0.75"?

You know, I thought they did, but looking again, I couldn't find it. I was looking at the 114.3 for my app though.

They are certainly a beautiful wheel and I love the look with the rivets. I'm torn between the XXR 521 with the gold rivets and the black XXR 530. On the one hand the 521 with gold rivets will accent the black car with gold accents but on the other hand the 530 are a more flush design and come a little wider with the 5 x 100. A person could go nuts trying to decide so I may just pull the trigger this weekend and live with the decision.

STERN ST-5 (JOCKFACE)

Size: 18"x 8.5"

Bought caliper paint and just received new gold zinc drilled and slotted rotors with new pads so should look pretty good when done.
