Hi Just a note to congradulate your new club. MAFOA is also a great club, please feel free to always contact them for advice&joining their great get togethers. I am in Wildwood NJ. I own a never driven 1987 White Fiero with only 79 actual miles on it. If ya ever need to research one for proper restoreation purposes feel free to allow your members to contact me. How about a a Fiero meet here on the island of Wildwood? Got plenty of Beaches&Motels. Could display the cars on Boardwalk? Good luck on your new adventure [club] Ed ED77KATR@aol.com

Thanks for the invite. We'll keep it in mind for a warmer weather outing. Just out of curiosity, how come you don't drive the car? I understand collecting cars, but the fun for me is hearing the exhaust and taking curves on the edge. Just yesterday my wife got worried about me because I hijacked our 87 GT from my son and disappeared on a joy ride through the Watchung hills and Great Swamp. It brought the enjoyment of driving just for the sake of driving back like when I was a bit younger behind the wheel of my 350 Camaro. Anyway, stay tuned for one of our meetings in your area (maybe Howell). Visitors will always be welcome.

I never drove it. It sat for 15 years unsold, never started,or moved at a tech school in midwest. I got it bout 5 yrs ago, it was like a timecapsule, still had factory markings on tires, sticker on window, etc. So im preserving it as is. As far as i know its the lowest mileage 87 Fiero in exsistense. i do know of a 88 with lower miles. The car was a subject of a May 2005 article in MAFOA magazine. If ya need info on it,or wildwood email me Ed

my son took his fiero to a body shop to get an estimate for a paint job. The guy didn't even come out to look at the car, just asked what kind was it and when he told him, he said " eh, my minimum is $6K, we do everything but it could be more, you don't want that".
I was annoyed, i think he blew him off because he's a teenager and he obviously didn't think much about fieros. some nerve.
anyway he'll shop around.
on another topic my good friend rpro aka Robert suggested Parkway Fieros for a club name. I think thats a cool name and symbolizes NJ.
fierofrenzy i sent you a pm.

i guess so on my end... i'm waiting on a part and praying it's the problem. if i can get the car fixed and there is no snow i'm going to work my butt off to get the $ to show up. granted i don't believe i have a vote due to the fact that i don't live in NJ and i'm not too sure how it'll work out, but i love fiero's and events where fiero's are!
As far as I'm concerned, you can be in a NJ club if you're from NY. After all we've got the Giants and the Jets and they let us go to their meetings. Why not Finally_mine?

Finally Mine - No more of this "livin' in N.Y. stuff ". Come on down, you're part of us ! This is a car club, not a "country club". That goes for anyone else this side of the Milky Way.

I'm getting my Fiero done by John at J&M Autobody in Toms River. He is amazing and reasonably priced. I send all my BMW and Benz customers to him and I've never seen cars that were wrecked come out looking like they were never hit. Tell him Dave from Autobahn sent you if you go see him. Dave, how much prep will you be doing yourself before bringing it in for paint? What's a ballpark price? By the way, I saw your pictures of the webers....that looks intense! Tuning those babies could be a full time job. What engine is that?

bmwguru - will you be joining us on 2/17 for our next fiero meeting?
BTW we had dinner tonight at the Stirling Hotel where we suggested to have the meeting on 2/17. We know the owner and told him all about our upcoming fiero club meeting. He is looking forward to seeing our fieros.

Basically, I will be doing no prep work. I can't quote John's price, but usually he gives me a great deal because I send him a lot of business. More than enough of my customers have told me that his price was lower than they expected and the quality was better than expected. Tuning the webers isn't that bad. Keep in mind, I work on the old porsches. I have a syncrometer and a emissions analyzer to tune the engine. Took about 15 minutes last time I tuned them. It is a Chevy 350, bored .030 over. Big cam, and about 10.5:1 compression.
As for meeting on the 17th, give me the details and I'll let you know a few days before. All depends on the shop that week. I won't be able to bring the Fiero out until it is painted....even though it is registered and insured already. Dave

Why don't you guys consider joining Mid Atlantic Fiero so you can also attend cars show events as well as your own get togethers. There is also a quarterly news letter that contains helpfull fiero articals. The club covers the New York. New Jersey Maryland, Virginia and PA areas.

I brought my car to the mechanic because I failed the inspection. The nitrogen oxide levels were too high. He did some tests to see why my car failed. It was because the catilitic converter was bad. Does any one know where i could get one?

I'm glad to see this thread hasn't died. If a meeting is for the 17'th I'll end up missing it by a few days. Its good to see more Fiero onwers in New Jersey.
I'll throw in my hands and wrenches to any Fiero folks out there that need some help getting a car worked on. I'm always willing to lend a hand and have a garage to work in. Its not super big but it gets the job done.

Hi Ryan,
Look up Rodney Dickman on the internet. He has a web site for all kinds of Fiero upgrades and repair parts. He sell a perfect fit, high flow, stainless steel catalytic unit already set up for the Fiero, including stainless clamps for about $110+shipping. Just hacksaw out the old one and bolt in the new.You can also try the Fiero Store (on the web), but if you do, then call to place the order - they give Pennock's members a 10% discount over the phone only (doesn't include GM parts, but the cat doesn't need to be GM).
Hope that helps, Mike

I have another question. Yesterday I was putting in a short shifter. I got the old one out ok and as I was putting the new one in I dropped the retaining e ring that prevents the shifter from slidding off. I then took apart most of the center consol and took the whole thing out and I could not find it so i figured you guys might be able to help. I put some sort of clip in there and it is drivable but i don't think that it is going to last very long. Does anyone have one or know where I could get one and what size it is?

Sometimes you can fish out a part that falls into the center console using a inexpensive tool that consists of a small magnet attached to the end of an extendable wand (the extension looks like a radio antenna). Autozone should have the tool.
