I think this is a wonderful way for a group of people showing that they can contribute to a fellow human being in need. But I would have to agree with aus, putting the car together and then raffling it off, then donating the proceeds to a local charity or finding somone truly in need would be a much better humanitarian way. Someone could locate a local dealer in the area to showcase the car and sell raffle tickets, that way the proceeds can be monitored by the people that started the good will gesture.

I'm not needy by no means but I sure would love a dependable fiero right now being that the one I had is not working and needs repair itself.

Well, we had quite a productive build day yesterday. Heres the skinny

- Installed Driverside Fiero Store Carpet
- Did a through cleaning under the front hood. THere was at least 5 pounds of pine needles.
- Trouble shooted the headlights.... One has a broken shroud that it's getting caught on and the other, the motor is missing a screw which is causing the motor to bind.
- Removed rear window tinting.

It dosent sound like much, but that is ALOT of work. It's coming along slowly but surely.

We got the motors covered. Thank you though. We just need to replce the plastic shroud on one in order to make it work correctly.

Hi Jen,
Yes, this is a second donation.
The seats kit was sent to FocusRush for inclusion into a completed car.
The offer to you was for a certificate for a free set of Fiero leathers.
The winner can request his or her color and style combination.
This is worth $650 and should generate a good bit of money for the hurricane fund.
Let me know where i'm supposed to send the certificate.

Well, I got the drivers Seat in and I drove the car back to my place. I figure more work will be done on it if I can get to it easy. Since it's return to my house, I have installed the front lip from Fiero Whearhouse, and the New Rear facia From Fiero Factory. I would have taken pictures, but It's raining out and my camera is not very water friendly.

I'll get some good shots once the weather clears and the sun comes out for awhile.

When you say you are looking for the shrouds around the headlights, are you talkin' about the ones that wrap around the lights themselves that you can see when they are up? I have a set for you if you like.

<EDIT> How 'bout an updated list of items you need. I may have some interior trim pieces you could use?

Perhaps it already has? Despite my post/thread about updates, the last of which was 22nd November in somebody else's thread, not his own, I am now moving back to being concerned. No updates on the website since 2nd September..it is deserted!! The car was taken back to his house to be finished....why, when all the facilities available at the shop it was at, would make it quicker and easier to do the work? The website is pretty new..and he only joined the forum in July this year. There are quite a lot of sponsors on the website.. I wonder how much they paid for the priviledge? Has anybody Paypalled cash as a contribution to the rebuild? How much is the total of donations in materials and parts so far? Am I getting unduly concerned? Funny He posted this thread too..not funny, ironic..
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/053851.html
If he was so concerned about rip-offs, why doesn't he respond , or post updates very frequently, to avoid anybody begiining to doubt him?
Has he returned the plates yet, to the original owner?
Wish he would come and reply to one of the two threads. I stand to lose nothing, so why am I pursuing this line of questions?
Just because I don't want to see anybody at all, lose their contributions to the project. He is very new to the Forum..July 2005..
Random Task, do you know anything? I saw in one of the threads you were going across to help..did you meet up in the end?
If my doubts are unfounded, I will apologise immediately, and withdraw my comments, and possibly even my Membership to PFF. Please post any information you may have.Anybody. Am I alone in feeling disturbed about this silence? Again, I hope nothing has happened that would prevent him posting. I will remove this post immediately, if it offends anybody.

Thanks Bobadoofunk... I realise I am walking out on a short plank here, and could have kept quiet and see what happens.Maybe I should have, but I couldn't .I am prepared to accept the responsibility of speaking out, if I am wrong. It was a relief to hear at least ONE other person was begining to wonder, too. It is a shame, if things have gone wrong in his personal life that have prevented him from posting, and starts to cast a shadow over a project started in apparent eagerness to help others who have suffered misfortune...I hope I live to regret adding to that shadow.

I was never contacted after offering help either. The November FOCOSEVA meeting was supposedly at the shop where the work was being done, but the notice has been removed from the club's page after that date and I haven't contacted anyone involved. Let's keep this near the top.

In a post by FieroRush , he said the car had been taken back to his house, in September, if I am not mistaken..so maybe the FOCOSEVA meeting was cancelled because of that?
Nick
Does anybody have the means to contact VA RICR-ETR, the donor of the car, to see if he has received his tags back yet?

i am also wondering about it .... i am in your boat fierofetish i have nothing lost from this because i haven't contributed with money/parts but i would hate to see all the people donating stuff and him getting a car fixed up with parts that were giving to help other people....parts alone donated are probably over 2k and not to mention the car donated...it might not have been much but it was still donated to a Cause for the people....

hope this stays on the right path and doesn't turn into a Wenzel episode

Hey guys - I did actually get the plates back early last week. Funny part is they were just stuck in a ups envelope, no note or anything. Oh well, I got them so I'm cool. I'm disappointed in the whole deal as when I was speaking with him before I donated the car, and when he came to get it, I told him that I felt like I was helping out. I don't have a lot to give people, and was actually going to give that car to another PFF member in exchange for relacing my clutch, but decided to go this route. He seemed genuine before he picked it up and seemed real cool when he came to get it. My frustration hit max levels though as my only payment request to give him the car was to get my plates back. That took several months. Hell, he only lives an hour and a half away. A note in the envelope saying sorry it took so long or thanks would have kept me swinging for the guy. I just hope that I didn't contribute to another Fiero getting parted out somewhere or something.

I believe he said he was in the Navy, like in the band or something, so that could possibly explain an absence, but I have no idea his role or position is so that may not be applicable. Only thing I can think of really.

Hello VA RICR-ETR!!!
Hey thanks for the very prompt reply!! Your explanation could certainly throw some light on the situation. If he is in the Forces, he could well have been away for some time.Something is wrong one way or another though. He was quite regular at posting progress, and then virtually nothing.I hope HE is ok, and not unable to update his progress reports.Still, very glad to hear you received your plates back safely.
Nick.

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I have been in Rio De Janeiro Brazil for that past while on the Navy UNITAS tour. I have started up work on the project again.

A few things have hindered my progress.......
1. The speed shop that was allowing me to use there shop has shut down.
2. The local FIero club has onld helpd out a little. There were only 2 guys that came on a regular basis to come help out, but since th car moved to my garage in Virginia Beach, there has been no help.
3. I'm still waiting on parts that are needed to complete the project.
4. The shop that was going to do the paint has backed out.
5. The holiday season is a VERY busy time for the Navy Band......
6. No Fiero's in the local junkyards.

I still work on it little by litte every day in my little free time that I have. Again I thank all of the Fiero vendors that have really come through big time on parts! I have gotten some good parts from other fiero owners as well, but the over all participation from of "avarage joes" hasen't. Many of the small parts like light bulbs, screws, interior fasteners and other misc. items I have been buysing out of my own pocket.

What would really be helpful would be if someone here locally would donate there FIero that's wasting away in there yards. I see on occasion someone that has a broke-down and abused Fiero sitting in front of there house, but when I approch them about it, they say they want like $2K for it......

This is a MUCH larger project than I thought it would be, but what has done so far has been outstanding and looks remarkable. I'm off tomarrow, so I'll post up more photos and an updated list of parts needed.

If had all of the parts in front of me, I could get the car done within a week.

Hope this clears up some stuff.

Thanks to everyone again for your support.

Firstly, I would like to thank you for not attacking my questions raised. That says a lot to me. I respect that very much. There was no malevolent intent to destroy your reputation. Just a genuine concern, primarily for yourself, as I took pains to point out in previous posts. I was also concerned that some good and generous folk on this Forum MIGHT have been deprived of their donations.I considered it easier for me, because I have no stake whatever in the project, to air those concerns, rather than somebody who does have a contribution. I have no axe to grind, but they might have appeared to. I took it upon myself to raise my concerns, and make no apology for doing so, because it was in others' interests.I am very happy that you have been very prompt in your explanation.Thank you.
I hope some help might be forthcoming soon. I wish I lived nearer!! I would be there like a shot!!
Respectfully,
fierofetish

I also have to commend you on your justified comments.....there were many of us doubting as we were not being presented with new progress and just wanted some answers to what was in the making...

no one ever blamed you for being a "con" or anything but had generous concerns and you didn't just jump out and say "go to hell i am working on it"

would give you another plus but i already have

Been having a few thoughts on this!! Miss-tress 007 has declined her share of the disaster fund..so why don't we use that share, to get the Hurricane finished in time for Christmas? I am sure, with a concerted effort from local PFF'ers,( if there ARE any!! ) and the extra funds, the car could be up and done, and make it a Christmas Special or New Year Special Event!! How about that? I personally still think it should be put on eBay for Auction..the potential of making a considerable sum from the sale is far better..and anybody who would like to bid for it from PFF could still do so.If it was listed with a description of why it was being auctioned, and listing the exclusive features it bears, it would make far more money...How about it Fiero Rush? How much more needs to be done, and how much money will it take? Has it stopped raining yet ???!! Got some updated progress photos? If you are overwhelmed working by yourself, I am sure we could get something going to help you.
Nick

I'd be glad to help if I had the time. Between work, travelling, and family, its gonna be tough for anyone to help at this time of year, which is my problem. I'm actually swamped through the first three weeks of January too because of the same reasons.
If we can get a list of parts that are needed, and work that needs to be performed on it to have it ready maybe we can pick and choose what or how we help? Any thoughts?

Hey all, I just wanted to say that I think this is a great idea! We just recently started posting again and so I've been catching up on everything that's been going on. We hadn't really gone into our "story" of what happened, (frankly 'cause we're tryin' to forget about it ) but so many people have asked that I will share this much with you. The water was 8-9 feet (12-13 total) inside the house and we lived in the attic/roof for 4 days. The water level never budged at all for the entire four days and it took only ten minutes to reach that level.

You know how they say you look back on things and laugh? Well we haven't reached that point yet but we do get a bit of a snicker out of the fact that we were sitting there watching TV that morning, never expecting what was about to transpire (the severity and speed of water) and in 10 minutes from the time water rolled into the house we were in an attic, like "damn, we won't do this again". We do joke around now that if the weather man says it is gonna sprinkle the tiniest bit of rain, we are packing up and headed out LOL

Anyway, we ultimately ended up getting airlifted out and fortunately we ended up in a place (Greensboro, Georgia) where there are some people who've been helping us out a bit. True, we lost everything in New Orleans, but we've fortunately found a 3br/2ba house that they're letting us live in rent free for the time being, so things are looking up. It could be a LOT worse. I truely appreciate what you guys have done to assist. I don't exactly know what the situation is for the other members of our New Orleans crew, but I do know they could use the assistance that you guys are planning much more than we could. I thank you all and ask whatever you would use to assist us you would instead give to those in greater need. It isn't like money is no object for us, not at all, but we have been truely blessed to land where there are some wonderful people who are making the process of day to day living just a bit more bearable. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and as I have always said from my first day joining this board, YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!

As far as the car, it was completely covered in 3-5 minutes and looks like a whole lotta work to get running again I'm in the process of trying to get another fiero since ours was completely submerged in the flood, so hopefully I'll be posting pics and the latest exploits pretty soon. LOL

Thanks again for the outpouring of support. PFF is a great family to be a part of.

Thanks for the update Miss-tress!! Wonderful news, and also a wonderful gesture to decline any proceeds from the Fund, in favour of others more needy than yourselves.Good luck in the future, with the rebuilding of your lives..if you are as methodical in that, as you were in rebuilding your Fiero, you are sure to succeed.

[Quote]This is a MUCH larger project than I thought it would be, but what has done so far has been outstanding and looks remarkable. I'm off tomarrow, so I'll post up more photos and an updated list of parts needed. [end quote]

Come on Man!! I am not going to get off this!!! I am beginning to have very big doubts about this again. You appear to have tried to fob us off with empty promises, and I know I am not the only one smelling a rat.Maybe the rat is you have bitten off more than you can chew, and can't admit it.205 posts from July 2005...and hardly any recently about a project you were so keen to undertake. You accepted a heavy responsibility..you can't just drop it now. At least admit you are struggling, and let somebody else take it over.It was your decision; nobody forced you.Or back up your work with photos and REGULAR updates, or let us know if you are unable to work on it through personal lack of time.It takes two minutes to post here, even if you are about to walk out the door for 2 weeks.Let us ALL know what is happening. You have a duty to the people who have invested THEIR property and money in this project. If you can't come through, then return all the donations to their rightful owners..PLEASE

I was under the impression that the "Project Hurricane" car was to be built with vendor sponsored products, auctioned off to generate cash, this cash would then be divided up and sent to Pennock's member hurricane victims.
