No not at all...I'm sorry if I made you feel unwelcome. Your choice of screen name made me think of a past person who borrowed a members' account and abused it. He really made a lot of people upset and I was just worried that he might be back. More innappropriate behavior certainly isn't what we need on here...and hopefully you will make a good contribution too!

No, actually everyone is welcome, they just have to behave and work at getting rid of the bullshit, like name calling cough*aintAman442*cough kinda funny, but exactly what this thread is about preventing. As a newbie, dont be quick to pass judgement to fast based on posts people make in threads more than one page, or that reference other threads.

"greg's ghost" came back and said "a bump for old times sake", to which cliff replied " a ban for old times sake" and bam instant ban a ratings bar didnt even show up... but aparently he gave a bunch of people ratings and cliff said taht what took him a couple of hours to do was erased in .47 seconds....
it was just REALLY funny when it happend

He was obviously banned because Cliff figured out that he was a previously banned member trying to sneak back. It really is a shame that these guys can never change their attitudes and learn to be a part of a society instead of just troublemakers. If they didn't draw so much negative attention to themselves they might be able to squeak by without Cliff noticing.
I doubt that greg's ghost was able to give any negative ratings to anyone, although he did try to get other people to give negatives. From my understanding of Cliff's rules, you have to be here 90 days and have a 30 post minimum before you are able to give ratings. Another safeguard that Cliff has in place to keep people from doing exactly what you talk about.

Sure he could, if he sits there all night rating people instead of posting. It's not that people were rating him, it's that he was rating us.
Re-read Cliff's rules.. No one can rate anyone until they have been here 30 days and have 30 posts. Greg was not rating anyone.
(I mistakenly said 90 days in my earlier post but have since double checked Cliff's rules and it is 30 days AND 30 posts before you can use the ratings system.)

Well, evidently he was trolling under the greg name but is rating us under his other name. Between the time I posted above and he replied my rating bar dropped. He was likely using the greg name to stir with and protecting his other name to rate with.

Well, what's even funnier is that when someone goes on a rating-spree, I can actually see that happen. I can see them rate people negative for hours at end. Usually I wait till they're done. I took a picture of all the work I have to do to "correct" the problem:
