If anyone is heading down from the Bay Area on Friday, Roy (silvermist) and I will be meeting at the Black Bear Diner in Gilroy at 1pm for lunch, then we'll head south. Pokey might join us. If you want to be there, let me know.
I'm not heading down Friday night but I'll probably be in Gilroy around that time getting stuff to prepare my car for the run so I'll join you guys!

I'm getting new tires for the trip,.Thanks to a forum member(spddy)I'm gonna get them for half price.woo hoo.So i don't have to run on slicks anymore.
Speaking of bad tires
Both of my back tires are shot so I think I will have to miss this one too. Gas money turned into tire money. As other funds got delayed too. But I will be at trucke next year for sure. And you can quote me on that.
hmm... anyone heard from Goobz lately? He hasn't made any appearances in this thread for awhile... and we HAVE to have our culturally-confused maid at the raffle!
Janell ...plus, supposedly he's picking up the bonfire fuel from my house for Sat. night.

Here is the proposed route with stops. Some of the mileages are approximate because of changes in plans after we last did a test run. The only thing that is still sort of open is the group and individual pictures in Carmel Valley. We're shooting for Garland Ranch but since I haven't been there, we'll just have to play it by ear once we get there.
Everyone should zero their tripmeter when turning onto Highway 1. --- Approximate Mile Points 00.0 - Turn right onto Highway 1 08.3 - Piedras Blancas lighthouse 18.0 - Ragged Point Resort (Roll up your windows! Seaweed stinks around here!) 24.2 - Scenic overlook 29.7 - Gorda (restrooms, gas, snacks) (First Stop) Parking may be difficult here. The guy at the gas pump gets upset if you don’t park correctly in the parking spaces. 42.7 - Lucia Lodge 47.8 - Big Creek Bridge 55.6 - Julia Burns State Park 56.7 - Vista Point (Second Stop) We stopped here last year. We should be able to circle around and get everyone in easily. 63.0 - Big Sur Inn 65.0 - Big Sur Bakery and Restaurant (Gas, Restrooms if needed) We will not be stopping here but if anyone needs a restroom, there is one available here. 73.8 - Big Sur Naval Facility 79.3 - Bixby Bridge 93.0 - Carmel Valley Rd (Turn Right at light) 104.5 - Running Iron Restaurant (On left) This distance is approximate. We changed to this restaurant late in planning so I have not been here. --- Part 2
00.0 - Leave Running Iron ??.?? - Garland Ranch Park for pictures. 33.0 - Big Sur River Inn (1st Stop) Mileage is approximate. General store, restrooms, parking on both sides of the road. Beautiful creek just off the road. 56.8 - Big Creek Bridge 74.9 - Gorda (Second Stop) (Restrooms, gas, snacks) Depending on how our picture situation works in Carmel, we may try for pictures here again. 86.6 - Ragged Point Resort (Remember! Bad seaweed smell here!) 97.0 - Seal Overlook (Third Stop) Big parking area. Seals lying on the beach all around. Southern end has displays. Northern end has no fences and seals are closer. Better views. 104.6 - Back to Courtesy Inn Turn left into access road and bear right around corner. Hotel is on the left.

Dale, you may want to consider having a gas stop in Carmel. Gas is about $2.35-$2.55 compared to $3.++ down the coast. One fill-up should do the trick from Carmel to San Simeon for most cars.

Yeah, that is in the full instructions. I just posted the actual mileage chart. We can fill up there on that little jaunt we take right before we get back on the one...

Jenell, one of the draws of diesel is that they are smog exempt. Now if we could just slam a big old Cummins turbo diesel with a performance chip in the back of a Fiero!
HEy, diesel engines and sports cars do go together. BMW just launched their 3 series convertible with a diesel (see http://www.germancarfans.com/news.cfm/newsid/2041021.001/bmw/1.html) and Audi has had the A4 Convertible with a diesel engine for a while (http://www.germancarfans.com/news.cfm/NewsID/2020826.002/audi/1.html)

I don't have them here, pokey.. They are going to be drop shipped directly from the manufacturer. Since we are giving people the option of custom shirts that worked out easier. But you guys are welcome to come by...
Still working on that order form!
