Joe Torma wrote the other day with his raffle offerings and I wrote back to him asking about shirts. Haven't heard back from him yet though. I'll keep you posted,

I was reading the original event link, registered Jerry and I, then got to Roy's and Janell's posts referencing football games. Damn! We have tickets ourselves for a game Saturday in San Jose! I guess we'll have to pass this time. I was really looking forward to seeing everybody and to the drive since we missed the recent Middletown trip. I guess we'll have to try for the Rally Through the Valley in the spring, especially since we missed it last year. Have fun everybody and Dale, you have another great birthday!

Sorry you can't make it, Jeannie. It is always good seeing the two of you. No way you can get out of the game and down to San Simeon for dinner and the raffle Saturday night? Or maybe at least lunch in Carmel? If not, we understand... We'll save you a piece of birthday cake!
I'm still going to work on Roy to see if he can't leave really early on Sunday morning and still make his game!
Things to Teach Your 16 y/o Sister: DO NOT PUT PENNIES [or other conductors of electricity] IN THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER!!! - moral of the story: if you value your radio, don't have your sister get the change from when you fill up w/ gas.
no tunes!!! am gunna open it up when dad's done with work. [he's an electrician ]
It probably blew the radio fuse. It's on the fuse panel, labled "radio", 10 amp. Piece of cake. (remove the penny first).

For anyone who wants to help promote the Run in their area, or for people who just want a way to make contact with other Fiero owners in their area.... I've created a flyer than can be put up on bulletin boards or left on windshields that has the info for the Coast Run. I have put it on the Coast Run site in two formats. There is a 1.6meg PDF file and a 180k jpeg file. My suggestion for anyone who wants to use these is to download the format you want and print them out. If you don't want to waste ink on the color version just change your printer settings to print colors as grey. The PDF prints a little sharper but the jpeg is fine for handouts.
You need some kinda of phone# on the flyer, or at least the hotel info, as not everyone has internet.(I know hard to belive) Then I'll pass some around here in Vegas.
Okay, I redid the flyer to include hotel information... The new links are above. I also changed the links in the old message.
Here is the information on the flyer now:
ATTENTION FIERO OWNERS!!!
2nd Annual California Coast Run
WHERE: San Simeon to Carmel and back on Highway 1 For Hotel Reservations call Courtesy Inn at 800-555-5773. Mention 'Dale Houston Fiero Group' for special $59/night rate
WHEN: Friday, Nov. 12 - Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004 (Actual Run leaves San Simeon at 8AM Saturday)
WHAT: Meeting with lots of other Fiero owners and cruising up the beautiful California Coast! Great Saturday night raffle and awards after the run!
13 signed up so far. I know there are lots more... Where's all those folks who were at WestFest that said they were coming?
When Mary gets back from L.A., we'll put together an email to the entire Westfest mailing list, which is basically everyone from every club in California. It's close to 300 names.

Dale, not to keep jackin with your flyer, but any thought about putting a phone number on for contact info for those Fiero-ites we might run across who are computer illiterate?

Stimpy, I thought about it.. But I am not really keen on putting my phone number out there for just anyone... In the old days I had an 800 voice mail number that I could have just put a prerecorded message on and if they needed more info they could leave a number. I no longer have that. I know very few Fiero owners that I would mind having my phone number, but just to throw it out into the public like that is not something I want to do...
I'm sure if someone was really interested they would call the hotel for info and Manish would pass them along to me.
Maddog and I signed up to day. Any one that is leaveing on Friday and wants to caravan up to San Simeon Lets put it together this next week. I can leave at any time from Marina del Rey, I do have to stop by Canyon Country to pick up Maddog on the way.

Great! I believe we are going to have a really good turnout again this year!
I haven't talked to the WCF guys yet but they came across the Grapevine and met me last year and then we went across to Paso Robles, meeting people at a couple of different stops along the way. Maybe I'll do a Convoy page on the site for people who want to meet up.

Thanks Songman. This is what should have been at the West Fest but you know how that goes. It is going to take an earth splitting Call Quake to stop me this time.

Is it the one I think it is? Cause that would be awesome!
haha yeah scott. that one. I really hope he comes. and that the money doesn't turn him off... lol. But then again, I might be able to convince him to give my baby to my sister, and get me this one. we'll see.
*edit* of course, I'd have to switch out the interiors

Rie and I just got back from doing a test and research run for the Coast Run. Beautiful weather! It was about 60 degrees in San Simeon and a little over 70 in Carmel. One more reminder for everyone to bring a jacket! Six weeks from now it is going to be nippy!
Here is the updated list of people who have signed up to attend through my website...
Songman & Rie Rickady88GT & the Mrs. Stimpy & the Mrs. Silvermist & the Mrs. atleastirruns rgeeinc & the Ms. Fastback86 spddy & the Mrs. tednelson83 KoolJess & the Ms. PokeyFiero 88White3.4GT FastRed & Maddog Steven Snyder & the Ms. Fierobear & Mrs Bear Ed Peralez & the Mrs. 2fn4rds & Guest Larry Hughes & the Mrs.
Here are the people who have reserved their rooms.
Songman & Rie Rickady88GT & the Mrs. Stimpy & the Mrs. Silvermist & the Mrs. rgeeinc & the Ms. spddy & the Mrs. KoolJess & the Ms. FastRed & Maddog David Dean Ed Peralez & the Mrs. 2fn4rds & Guest
Some named David Dean has also made his reservation. This is not a name I am familiar with. Is this someone I should know under their forum name?
Thanks to those who have both signed up on the website and reserved your rooms.. Last night the hotel was SOLD OUT, so please don't wait till the last minute to try and get a room and end up left out... Also, I want to make a note that if you reserve your room and end up not getting to go for some reason, please call the hotel and cancel your room. Three people stiffed the hotel on their room at WestFest and after several attempts to get them to take care of the situation, not one of them has done it yet. While I can't really stop those people from showing up for the event, they will have to find another hotel to stay in unless they take care of this situation. I don't think that is much to ask. It is pretty common that if you don't cancel your room you get charged for it.

More info on the Coast Run... Yesterday was exactly six weeks before the run. Almost all details are taken care of. We will be using the pool area again for dinner after the run and the raffle. The hotel is providing chairs and tables for us.
Lunch will be at the Baja Cantina in Carmel Valley. We ate there last night and I spoke to the manager. They will be reserving room for us again. They open at 11:30 on Saturday and we plan to be there prior to that. The only thing that you need to sort of plan ahead for is that when doing groups like this, they do a single ticker per table. Please take enough small bills with you than you will be able to cover your portion of the bill when it comes. We will meet in the back parking lot as last year. Around opening time, the parking lot starts to get busy so the earlier you get there the better.
Our planned departure time from the hotel is 8:30AM. This is the time that we need to actually roll out of the parking lot. I am suggesting starting to line up at 8:00AM. Make sure and get gas the night before or get up early that morning. Gas in Cambria is at $2.55 for regular unleaded now. In Morro Bay it is about $2.05. We will not be stopping in Gorda on the way North this year. We are making two stops each way. Gas in Gorda is $3.79 for regular if someone HAS to stop.
As I mentioned, we should be in Carmel prior to 11:30 for lunch. We'll plan to leave on the way back to San Simeon at 1:00PM. There are three gas stations that we pass on the way out of Carmel for those that need to top off. This trip is almost exactly 100 miles each way so most of us will probably want to stop. After gassing up, we'll line up on the side of the highway going south as last year...
When we arrive back in San Simeon, I will want everyone who will be ordering dinner that night to let me know they will be eating, and make a choice of the items available. The restaurant that will be catering is working up a possible items and we will choose from three. I am shooting for something around $10 but not more than $15 per person. I will turn in the orders to the restaurant so they will know how much to prepare and then we have a few hours to relax and hang out before dinner. We will plan for dinner at 7:00PM. That should give everyone enough time to be hungry again. We will start the raffle somewhere around 8:00-8:30PM.
We have lots of great prizes already and I am sure more will be coming in in the remaining 6 weeks before the Run.
Donating vendors so far are:
California Auto Body (spddy - John Tinay) Fiero Warehouse (007Doug - Doug Kinney) The Fiero Store ProtectAll K&N Addco Paul McKibben Aldino Cars Animated Concepts (Joe Torma) Ferrari Decals (J. Brian Riley) RainForst Car Wash
As you can see, I reached outside the normal Fiero vendors this year and we have been able to get some big name aftermarket vendors involved! This is a great thing for our hobby when we can show these big companies what we are doing with our cars and that they should invest in supporting the Fiero! The raffle is going to be a lot of fun this year and people are going to walk away with great prizes.. And always, the proceeds from the raffle goes to St Judes Children's Research Hospital. We'll also be doing the 50/50 with the proceeds from that being donated to Cliff for maintaining the forum. If you are a vendor and want to help out, there is still plenty of time! We'll also have goodie bags for each participant so small items are welcome too for that.

You're right, Scott! You are on the list. I was just doing too many things and somehow missed your name...
Can't believe you caught me on two mistakes in the same post! You were correct in that I mis-quoted the gas prices... The $3.79 is for Premium. Regular is only $3.59...

1st Stop.. Some of you may remember it. Be careful crossing the highway as you enter here. Traffic comes pretty fast. Same when you exit...
Yes, it is dirt... Sorry bout that. But the view is worth it...
We normally stop here at Gorda for the 2nd stop but this time we're going to save it for the way back. This is where we stop and take the individual car pics in front of the rock wall and boat.
This is the Baja Cantina on Carmel Valley Road where we will be having lunch. Great atmosphere with race car decor. Fits right in with what we are doing. Lots of Mexican faire but good bacon cheeseburgers for those of us that don't partake of the Mexican offerings.
