Do you have pics hosted somewhere? I use www.supermotors.com Put the address between [img] tags. To see what I'm talking about, hit "reply" to my post and you'll see how it's posted.
Last years run.
PS, Dale, I went to reconnoiter El Caminito. It's a bust. Supe tight twisty residential street on a VERY steep uphill grade that winds up in a cul-de-sac that's kinda uhh. My car was getting pretty hot going up, I can only imagine how the dukes would fare going up. I recommend Garland Ranch, or there is also a winery between Baja Cantina and Garland Ranch that has a very impressive villa, perhaps they wouldn't mind if we pulled up for some quick shots.

Yah, i dont think that thing is made for the auto. i'll be home tomorrow i have to help paint my house all morning, and i'll be around studying for midterms. so if John is free tomorrow we could pull it off and i'll work something out with you if you still want it. ...
Can ya'll believe that it is almost here? I've still got a ton of things to do! But man, I'm looking forward to this!
Last year we had a pretty good caravan with several meeting points along the way between here and San Simeon. Are we going to try to do that again this year? If so, what time schedule is everyone looking at? Rie and I will be available to leave shortly after noon on Friday....
I figured that a good first meeting point would be the Lost Hills exit on the 5. Then I'm figuring the rest area on 46 just past the James Dean Memorial for the 2nd stop. Good bathroom break for folks! Third stop could be the store at Paso Robles where any Northern folks could meet us... Then on into San Simeon and the hotel...
Any discussion?

Do you have any idea what time you'd be arriving at the Arco station in Paso? I was planning to leave around Noon or 1pm, which would put me there between 3-4pm. I can adjust that, if necessary, but I probably wouldn't want to leave much later than 1, because I have to go through San Jose area traffic.

That would probably be just about right, bear. By the time we get out of here and then make the two stops prior to Paso, I would think we would be there around 3:30-4:00...

Yeah we got to avoid that trtaffic in San(freeway doesn't move)Jose. Also you may not want to van with me cause this moter has zero miles on it and I have to take it easy on it till it breaks in.This isn't going to be a fast trip for me darn it.I was hoping to drive it for a week before I left. It's going to be a POKEY trip.

With the level of enforcement on 101, and the lower speeds on the other highways, I won't be doing much more than 70.

Scott what time are you/we leaving on saturday? by the way are you still up for sharing a room? do you still have my cell #?
Stimpy wants us to meet him at his house right off 101 in Salinas at 10:30 Saturday morning. It'd be quicker for you to go straight there, than over here first. You, me, Steven Snyder, and Stimpy are gonna cruise over to Carmel Valley from there. Stimpy posted a link to a MapQuest site with his house on the last page.
Still up for sharing a room, and I still have a number of yours, though I don't know which one (cell/house/whatever). PM me. If I don't hear from you in the next day or two I'll call the number I have.

Anybody know what kind of weather we are going to encounter this weekend? Are we expecting any rain? If we are that would certainly put a damper on our shindig. But, hey I'm rit to go!!!!

I called the Chateau Julien Winery today. They said that of course we were welcome to come there, but informed me that this weekend is a big Monterey County wine tasting festival so the whole town is going to be pretty busy. I doubt if we will be able to get all lined up in their parking lot for the group picture. Garland Ranch park is still a possibility but I tried to call them today and all I could get was a recording. Hopefully we'll have something worked out by Saturday...
The Weather Channel shows the forecast for San Simeon on Friday as: Mix of sun and clouds. Highs in the upper 50s and lows in the low 50s.
And for Carmel Valley on Saturday as: Times of sun and clouds. Highs in the low 60s and lows in the mid 40s.
Chance of rain for both days is in the 10-15% range. Looks like it is going to be a nice weekend. It will be overcast on Saturday morning as we leave San Simeon. Bring jackets to wear at the stops. The wind coming off of the ocean is COLD!
The forecast shows rain for all over central CA on Sunday so be prepared for a wet drive home.

No need to get permission to Garland Ranch. The only area that has vehicle access is the (very large) parking area, which is packed dirt. Behind the parking lot is the Carmel River ehich has lots of growth around it for a backdrop. The only way over the river into the park is by footbridges. I forsee no problem being able to line up all the cars for some pics. Whether or not it has the jaw dropping oomph factor may be debatable, but it should be a better shot then the beach we stopped at last year.

Just got off the phone with Joe Torma a little bit ago... I mentioned earlier that I was hoping to have 'personalized' T-shirts this year, in addition to the 'official' run shirt... Joe says that this will not be a problem. So we will have order forms available at the Run and you can order either kind of shirt. We will be taking individual pictures of all of the cars at the Run, or you can furnish your own picture if you would rather do that... Final cost will be decided prior to the Run, and will depend on the price Joe can get the shirts for.
Here are examples of the 'Official' shirt and a 'personalized' shirt...
Official Coast Run 2004 Shirt
Personalized Coast Run 2004 Shirt (Your car on the shirt!)

If anyone is heading down from the Bay Area on Friday, Roy (silvermist) and I will be meeting at the Black Bear Diner in Gilroy at 1pm for lunch, then we'll head south. Pokey might join us. If you want to be there, let me know.

Dinner is set for Saturday night for 7:30 in the evening. Dinner will be catered by Linn's Restaurant in Cambria. The menu will include fresh fruit trays, fresh green salad with dressing, BBQ chicken, Trip-Tip, and beans. Cake for dessert. They bring plenty of food! Huge portions for us BIG EATERS!
We will have tables set up in the pool area as it was at WestFest.
The price of dinner will be $16.50 per person. (The price does not include drinks, but you can bring your own or we will have soft drinks available to purchase.) I need to know by Friday night who will be eating dinner with us. And I will have tickets available for purchase through lunchtime on Saturday. If you do not have a ticket, you won't be able to eat. Well, you can eat, just not the catered food from Linn's!
The people that I have down for Saturday night dinner at this point are: Dale & Marie Houston Rick & Jennifer Whiteside Jeffrey & Barbara Stillwell Janell Fleenor Bob Rutz John & Nancy Tinay Scott Evans Kevin Rye Jess Roque' & Patti Howell Andrew Villasenor Mark Lucero Chris & Madison West Steven Snyder & Kaleen Martin John & Mary Szpara Ed & Sandra Peralez John Dormandy (& guest ??) Larry & Jan Hughes Anthony Sisneros Dick & Sandra Boyum Bob Brouwers (& wife) Neil & Katherine Fischer David Dean
So far that is 37 for dinner if everyone who says they are eating actually do. I know there are a couple more who say they are coming and have not signed up yet. I have to order this food and pay in advance so please, if you are on this list and not eating let me know. Also, if you want to eat and are not on the list, also let me know... I know there may be people who show up Saturday that may not see this. I'll probably add a couple to the final number just to be safe. Other than that, I don't have any better ideas since not everyone who is coming signs up... But thanks to all that have for helping me with the preparations. It's gonna be a great weekend!

BTW - Chris, Allen... I know you guys are bringing kids. Don't let the price of the meal scare you. They are small enough that we can sneak them through at no charge...
