Well crap is the word for the day. Due to a mix-up, I ended up with these badges:

They were all suppose to turn out like the nose badge on the left, with the silver or gold border.

I highly doubt if anyone will want to buy any of these, but let me know if you're still interested. I won't be ordering any more of the correct either (ones with the border). This mix-up in the order cost me $200 which I most likely will not recover.

Edit: I just noticed that even the gold ones are wrong, there is supposed to be a heavy bar under MERA, and not "CORPORATE CONCEPTS."

Tom put me down for two of the silver door tabs. I already have two of your silver nose emblems and two of the gold door tabs without the coorporate concepts. Now we need you to make one for the steering wheel to cover the Fiero GT emblem...... hint hint

So if we all buy a few of these we can get the correct badges ordered??? I will take a couple as I need the correct badge and you are the only one I know of that can get them. At a minimum I would like to get the door tab badges that will match the nose badge.

How do the nose badges that are pictured attach to the nose?

John,

I use double sided GM accessory mounting tape to install my nose badge. It has been on for a couple of years with no problems at all.

Do you have to stick it on an existing nose badge? The one on my car is the Ferrari symbol badge.

No I removed the old nose badge using dental floss to cut the adhesive. This was done prior to painting the car and resulted in a clean surface for the install (after some cleanup work). Then I used the 3M mounting tape on the back of the replacement nose badge and installed it in the original location.

Dan,

I may be able to solve part of your problem since I will likely have a Design One/Stage Two turbo kit for sale. This should be removed from my 87 Mera when I do an engine swap. Now all you need is a bit of cash to blow the Aldino away.

Seems to me, that with tape and some fine steel wool, a border could be produced pretty easily.

These are done with a laser engraver, so being the perfectionist I am, I'm not sure. But heck, I'll experiment with one this weekend. Maybe even a dremel with a rubber tip. I'll throw in a couple of the "rejects" with each order. I'll keep updating the post above until I order later this week.

This will work well for the nose badges. Its very thin, and much better than hardware store double-back foam tape. And only 4.99 at Napa.

This is what I'm shooting for! Don't have any good pics of the gold ones. FYI, I sprayed this set with clear coat. I don't spray them anymore, I leave that up to you guys.

Anyone know where I can find some proper tires for Mera 8088? From what I can tell I need some Gatorback 24550VR15s. Any help is appreciated. I seem to remember Rodney knowing how to get hold of these types of rare items. Any ideas?

John,

I believe that the original factory specs called for 245 x 15 x 50 tires on the front and 265 x 15 x 50 on the back. I am actually running the 265 tires all the way around on my cars (my one exception is that one 88 Mera has 295 tires on the back but that will change after it is once again running). WRT the Gatorback tires, good luck finding them. I have trouble enough even finding any tires in the 265 size. Let us know if you fina source for either 245 or 265 tires.

Nelson

John,

Nelson is 100% right when he says "have fun trying to find GatorBacks". He is also right on factory sizes. I went through this last year when I tried to find ONE tire manufacturer that made both 245 and 265. I didn't want Dunlop on the front and Michelin on the back. I also wanted a wheel that would fill the wheel wells better than the factory sizes. Another thing to consider is if you have two different sizes it would be impossible to rotate your tires if they are unidirectional. So here is what I did...... I put ..255-60-15 all around. The front is a little wider than factory and the rear a little thinner. The profile is 60 rather than 50 so my speedometer is off by 4% but they fill the wheel wells so nice. I also opted to keep the raised white letters facing out for the (as Dan calls it) Detomaso muscle car look. Go to this link for comparison pictures

I found BF Goodrich Radial TAs that fit the bill. Unfortuneately they are not exact...raised white letters and 60s instead of 50s. $600. What do you guys think? I looked at the link. I am still not sold on the raised white letters but I do like the way the wheels fill the wells a bit.

Johnny...

$600 is a good price... I went $500 installed & balanced..... but if you found 245-60-15 and 265-60-15 by the same manufacturer....awsome. You can always turn the white walls in....... I say go for it...with 245's in the front you may not get wheel rub like I do on full turn hitting a bump....with my 255's. Oh by the way, make sure your ride isn't lowered......

ohhhh my!!! so i got a name of a previous owner....i seem to be the 3rd owner which is great, but you will never guess where the address is...i think across from!!!???

i kid you not....324 E Columbia Pontiac MI, if it is not the actual address its the address ACROSS THE BLOODY STREET from the EX-GM PONTIAC WORLD HEADQUARTERS!!!! .......what the!?? WOW! now i have mentioned GM/Pontiac Execs before but, this is just very weird.

the name also has 2 other MI locations in Royal Oak and Waterford and to my knowledge these are "well to do" neighborhoods.
oh, and the guy is like 61, today. boy oh boy!!! which is more of the time of the Mera than if he was 40.....

if only i could get a closer shot of the house....its only a 2 bedroom.
but, this house was built the same year my carfax shows the first registation of my Fiero in 1998. more weirdness.

look that address up on a map! its unreal how close this Mera of mine was to the place where the Fiero underneath was made..

i am totally shaking right now.....time for another cup of mud....and an atlas!!

Great Job Dan..... FYI GM Headquarters started in Flint way back in the early 1900's....then moved to Detroit (3044 West Grand Blvd.) in 1923 till 1996 when they moved to the Ren Cen. I don't think GM ever had a world headquarters in Pontiac. The Fiero for sure was built in Pontiac.

Remember what I said....facts.... lol... I can see how excited you are.

I use a thing called Jing--minor problem, with the free version you only get .png files. Oh, and it does video and sound--that and free file conversion S/W will get you there.
