Send me an e-mail. Will be going to see the silver MERA that was at Autorama this year next SAT. Let me know what photos you would like to see.
84ND500@comcast.net If and when he sells it I have first shot.

hello all.
Well, I would like to tell you "every angle inside outside". "in the panels under carrige every thing".
but thats what i would do. i have some large SD cards so storage is not a problem.

i dunno....be creative....think the impossible shot.

but to specify...i personally am interested in pics of the insides of the panels.
the easiest to view are the triangles in the rear. where the battery and
air filter are, respectfuly. thats the easiest access.

also would be very interested in a lot of photos of the inner rear. you know under the leather clad aluminum plates..
i want to see how the lights are wired back there.
i do not expect that you will be able to take things apart...but, thats a hot spot between Meras and Kit cars.

ohhh...and fastening points...I have read that the Meras are supposed to be connected to the Fiero in 200 seperate locations.
if a kit/salvage Mera is built this is going to be the biggest tell...lazy people and their cost cutting.

this will help establish the list of things to look for when verifying a future Mera as numbers matching.
Fiero to Mera.

maybe some close ups of the engine grill. the ends, weld locations as a whole, and supports/fastners.

its hard for me to point at any one thing....i would buy the family pack of batteries and shoot till spent.

like i said be creative and dont hurt yourself. if you need me to post them here i can do that.
i think i have photo re-imaging figured out...if not hope to see from you soon.
Dan

thats cool. mine traces back here to MI in '98. right in GM's back yard, Bloomfield Hills. i think this may be something.
i wonder if an Execitive or someone had their hands on Mera X. if its an early example, i see X as an "offering"
or trouphy piece. maybe used to persway an uppity, up.
did i mention the Bond-a-thon i have been on. i must be trippin'

the thing is SOS/DMV only keeps records for 10 years. this sucks. i have to assume born in MI lived in MI till it was
sold out of state. one time to the guy i bought from according to my seller in FL. so i got 2 steps, well 3 if you count me
MI-FL-MI< me but thats in the last 10 yrs or so only. what about the other 11-12 yrs?? the ones that count the early ones.
wish MISOS had more info or a way to get info. all i got is an old Title # from MI.

hey boss, you watch that video??? no one get's hurt in it... figures it would be the older model. there are like 3-4 308's
in the youtube vid. thats why i posted it. some fine FERRARIS in that one, there is.

about the photo:
is it true that fiberglass disapates impact force better than metal??
i thought i heard this on top gear or something.....you know how they can be
i have been driving and working on the car all day...so fun to finish one thing, go for a coffee and come back
for something else. i get to paint, fix my stupid temp guage, a poly swap, and i forget....main thing is the temp gauge.

the car is runnin real good...still amazed how quick it feels....for an old car. i like the Fiero part of this Mera, just need like 50
more Horses and i would be set. this year.

G'night-
Dan

dan if your looking for just 50 horses.... thats very achievable with your 2.8 as long as your longblock is still in good order to start with. first, you can find a nice but used stainless steel magnaflow muffler on ebay for 30.00 to 60.00 including shipping, next install a off brand k&n style cold air intake can use k&n but trying to keep cost down likely around 85.00 to 95.00, next you can buy a reprogrammed hp computer chip for around 99.00 to 150.00. magnaflow muffler isnt load/throaty like a flowmaster but still gets hp and sounds kinda euro estimated hp gain 16-22hp, k&n or counterpart cold air intake estimated hp gain 8-12hp, most hp chips advertise 22-25hp gains for a total of around 46-59hp of solid horsepower not like a turbo or supercharger that will put more wear and tear on an already old engine. estimated costs are $214.00-$305.00.... these are just some useable tips... just my .02 mike in oklahoma

ps also i have a theory that the 4stroke combustion engine is basically an air pump. most times an inefficient one but nonetheless... and if you make that air pump more efficient you will gain in all aspects. so by making more useable horsepower and torque you have made it more efficient. the car still weighs the same but you gave it more hp and tq making it easier to push that same weight down the road. meaning.... likely you will see fuel economy gains as well with your hp jump. again just my .02 mike

pss there are obviously lots of other mods that can be done for hp and tq but this was based on little to no budget.... biggest bang for your buck. we all know i can start spouting high dollar mods off into the air lol... but these are reasonable ones anyone can do.

thats the ticket!
i am going to hit up an old Boss of mine for that mod money, mowing lawns. while i am laid-off my Construction Job. I HOPE.
Thats $300-400 there. this last winter sucked. cold, but no snow...as such. Piles of Snow=Piles of MONEY. NOT this year.

i have been surfin parts stores and the Fiero store's for these same things....air filter, chips, mufflers...
i almost cut off my catalytic convert...for giggles...did not, yet..
Auto Zone is no help. so i guess all parts come with a 3-4 day waiting period.
at least Mera X works now. no major issues. also i jacked it up yesterday....all my rubbers are shot. needs "The Poly Swap".

Mike, thanks for thinking about POOR ole me. i mean no money mods are what i need.... thinking about some junkyards..
wonder if there is a Fiero Graveyard up here somewhere???

i need a temp gauge sending connector so far....nobody has the connector in store. i have to wait for UPS. i have no patients.
i am working on that. i guess i have the right car (Fiero) for the training from what i read in the archives.

i am paranoid that my car is overheating all the time because the temp gague is a bust.
my TA almost blew up cuz the mech. forgot to burp the cooling sys. as per the specs. then tried to blame me for not doing it. hell was to pay. then my Jeep did blow a freeze plug. that was my bad. did not know the thermostat was out. till "BLOOSH". that incident makes me anal about looking at temp guages all the time.

this situation will result in a low temp fan switch and something else....anyway, this is my biggest concern, the Temp gauge.
whoops gettin long again.
Later
Dan

Observation- Search "Fiero Seats"
i just looked at 20 pages (10 pics a page) and it strikes me funny that not one Fiero had my leather seats.
but we all know that the one Fiero that matches me seats to the T is a Mera in Sweden. go Figure.warnfuzzyfeelingsetsin....
ahhhhhhh....

http://www.hawaiian50.com/mera

hope its a link. if not go here and there should be some pics and a Magnum PI theme song for you all.
i would make it into a horn or something. actually i looked up aftermarket horns for the CaddyShack rollsroyce golf cart horn sound.
anybody know what song that is?
you know the part in the movie when Chevy and Rodney show up for the the "big Bet" game.
that might have to happen. i got the sound bite. just do not know how to record it, yet. electronic horn or something.
you know it sounds like a boat horn..,.hold on i gotta go check...

Yellow is not my preferred color either. Though, went to the start of the Copper State 1000 on Sunday and there were some beautiful yellow F-cars.

Interesting about '88s--said to be the better car, suspension, brakes and all. The downside is that some parts are unique and harder/more expensive to buy. I have one of each, can I tell the difference? yup, is it a big deal? not so far. On the other hand, most '87 Meras were probably GTs and therefore there were more Meras with GT goodies--sunroof, T-top, etc. Most '88s were Formulas and mostly hard tops. Do I know this to be fact? No, just a gut inference.

What a shame! The maritime climate does that to cars. Our "crew car" on Guam in 1967 was a '54 Chevy held together by only the paint.

A guy would have a real good case for authenticity if he "re-chassis'd" this car--do it, Tom

now thats it nice out, more than not anyway, i made a landing pad.
Mera X parking only.

in this last one i know you cant see the car (dirty window) but this long shot is from my computer desk.
i can now. yeah.... gives me something to stare at whilst deeep in thoughthahahaha....

i did not think yard work would figure into my car stuff. huh!? did not see that commin.

now i can see X from inside the house. so resourcefull i am. i had the rocks in my driveway and they made it all slippery and dangerous with the way i drive, all sideways throwing stones all over and such. thats why i like the dirt more. maybe clay. this year. something less dusty. was thinking it would be cool to have a grass driveway.

good point. this fact is supposed to help me find my Mera # cuz my Fiero is stated by VIN to be an SE. Rare. according to one of them articles about the production of the Meras. the articles with those old black and white pictures. I think you posted them Richard. that little nugget gave me a shot. seeing that i like 'em old and rare. the SE thing makes me feel like special.....ED
attaboy Rich. good point.

ya i have the 87 mera and an 88 fiero rebody i made. the 87 mera drives great with tubular arms and custom adjustable heim joint suspension like an actual race car. the 88 i made very similar tubular a arms and it handles well too. i did purchase new 88 front wheel bearings from rodney and they work fine. both cars handle well. if i had to do it again though i would rework both cars suspensions with c5 corvette spindles, hubs, and c6r brakes. the real f430 brembos i used are very pricey and i could have used the vette stuff way cheaper and still stop and look great doing it. mike in oklahoma

alright, for you only, the 1 time cost of -a LS1 swap.
seeing you have cars, boats, Hummers and Monsters, i assume you need alot of parking.....so you got alot of work, ehhh?
Bet. i will even try to drive X so you can get that for Me

seems i think i need to have parking for 7.
3 under car port.
3 in garage.
and Mera X in the b-yard.

i called it "Stir Crazy" winter rehiblitation.
i needed to get outside that day. at least it was over 65 when i did that custom parking spot.

Had a near "rear-ender" about a month ago in my '87. Since then put new SS braided lines and flushed the old black fluid--better.

You are correct about most 88 Mera's being Formula based. That is what almost kept me from purchasing mine. I did not believe mine was a real Mera since it had factory Beechwood carpets, factory leather, Leather Fiero GT steering wheel, Perfomance Sound, and sunroof. The previous owner had to send me a copy of the title showing it was indeed a GT. I don't know how many 88's were GT based but it could not be many from what I have seen.
