Mera folks;

I have a 308 clone I have been rebuilding for the past few years. I am at the point were I am replacing the side louvers. My original louvers are fiberglass and I would like to maybe replace them with some metal louvers. Did the Mera's have fiberglass side louvers or are they fiberglass as well? I also have the fuel filler up in the sail panel behind the louvers so I will be making the driver's side an opening/locking setup.

Thanks
Don

The Mera louvers are made of a hard plastic and are somewhat brittle. A mechanic decided to push move one of my Meras and broke four sections of them off when he pushed on the louvers. Needless to say he is not my favorite person even though I did retrieve the pieces and hope for an eventual repair.

The 3800 SC Series III work was not performed by me much to my dismay. It was the last known one completed by Loyde (Fast Fieros) and took more than a year after signing a prepaid six week install contract. I was happy just to get it back in decent shape so that I could complete some small items.

Don: Don't know if you've seen this or not, but for everything else you've done to your kit, this wouldn't be out of line for you to do:

About 3/4 way down the page...post by guess who....the bloozman! I figure you must have seen this already, and decided to go a different route, but thought I'd post it here just in case.

Does this mean you're working on the car again?

Thanks for the replies guys. I will give Blooz a quick email and ask for more info. I probably saw the picture before but I forgot all about it.

I am not working on the car yet Sage. I am pretty much done the honey-do list but my youngest daughter's boyfriend rear ended someone so we are fixing the front end on his 89 civic right now. Both should be done within the week so I can get back to the final touches on my 308 build and drive it once before the driving season ends up here. I may already be too late......

Thanks again for responses folks.

Picked up a car that the original owner bought out of Canada...
the car was in Hawaii for a few yrs within the last 10 yrs my guess..

Cheviot rims on it from Australia.
original 4 cyl still with a stick...
nice rust metal on the car top and bottom.

a quick into
I have had a performance car shop here in Tucson since 1990..
and been doing this stuff most of my life.
When the shop gets a little slow, we buy and flip cars to stay busy.
You may of seen some of my ads on ebay from time to time. I have a few
cars up there now. I try to buy more unique stuff you dont see every day.
and we have customers all over the world.
My shops name is Motorsport Warehouse btw. Ive been looking for a clean stock
Fiero around here for sale to do a mild restoration on and drive for a while before I sell it on.
I enjoy what I do for a living and luckily most of the cars we sell are all nice rust free examples.
We never know what we are going to find around the next corner.
You all seem like a nice group of guys/gals, hope to be talking with you all more and maybe I
can help you out with some of our pics, info etc, and Im sure you all will be able to answer alot
of my questions too.

Lot of splash molds made from Meras and the bodies ended up on many different Fieros.

Looks clean, low miles, no Mera production number given. Stored "many" years! Stored (not driven) cars can be a headache.

More discussion on the car here. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/067694.html I think he started at 19,900 on the car and lowered the price to 15,900, so I am guessing it has a high reserve.

Certainly if it is very inexpensive or if you want to long term store it at my house.

I am familiar with this car and was supposed to have a first option to purchase it before the last owner bought it. Unfortunately for me I was overseas when it was sold and never got the chance to buy it. It was for sale somewhere around $21k at the time and I think that it finally sold for around $18k by the person that I was dealing with. I suspect that the reserve is rather high on this vehicle but you could be surprised.

BTW, this is sort of "two of a kind" with respect to Bob Bracy titled vehicles. I also declined to purchase the second Mera titled to Bob Bracy (white with auto transmission and stock 2.8 intended for his wife's use) when I lived in the Atlanta area. That one went for somewhere between $14 and $15k. I am not fond of automatic transmissions and thought that the price was a bit high. It did have two sets of wheels (stock lace and Chromadoras) along with stock seats as well as leather Recarro seats that had Mera embroidered on them.

Dan,

Heath still has the red Mera as well as the black one he is trying to sell prior to moving. If he cannot get his price, he likely plans to keep it.

Dan,

There is about six hours left in the auction for the black Bob Bracy Mera and the bidding is somewhere around $19k but the reserve has not been met. I am guessing that the reserve is set at $20k for this car. Go make a quick bid on it and see if you can get a known Mera with a build number.

I guessed wrong on the reserve for the Bob Bracey Mera. There are three hours left in the auction, the price is at $23.5 k and the reserve still has not been met! Heath will make money if he sells the car.

Bid on the Bracey Mera went to 23,600, didn't make reserve.

Makes me feel better about what I paid for my 88.

I was in touch with the previous owner (prior to Heath) and know what he wanted for the car. I also have an idea as to what was actually paid for the car at the time it was sold. If it had been sold yesterday at the $23.6 k mark, the owner should have made a decent profit. Maybe the current owner considers this to be an investment since he seldom drives the car and is simply trying to maximize the potential profit.

I had this kit. Guy in La took it off an 86 body. From everything I've heard and seen about Meras it fits the bill. I drove to see the chassis to look for MERA tag. No tag. Interior was dressed out like a MERA.

This builder has done an amazing job of turning a so-so 308 replica into a work of art. He is 355Fiero here on PFF.

You'll have to spend some time sifting through his build thread over on MM, but if you appreciate attention to detail and true craftsmanship and patience, it's worth it. I've linked to one of the pages where he talks about the headlight mod he's done, but there is much more info on the subject contained in the thread, it's just not all on one page.

I plan on doing some of the same mods to my kit as I'm building it, but haven't made allot of progress so far.....hopefully all in good time. Don didn't build his in a month either!

Anyway, you asked about doing the round sealed beam headlight mod, he has.

HAGO!
