I decided I wanted a car that was different and found PFF while researching info on 308 Fiero conversions. Thanks to you guys I discovered the Mera and the idea of having a car that only 247 were produced was irresistable.

I found Mera # 8029 for sale in Ocala FL, via craigslist, and bought it last weekend. It's a 5 speed with a Series I 3800 supercharged motor. The install looks good. It's a pretty solid car, the interior is so so, and the paint job is about a 20 footer, though. I'm not sure exactly where I'll start but it will be fun making it a really nice car.

It should show up here in the next couple of days, I'll post a couple of pics when it gets here.

We now have Meras with 3800 SC Series I, II, and III engines. That should cover the spectrum unless someone has a turbo 3800 SC or a NA 3800.

Call from Dave at Bosco's garage. The letters are completed and ready for making multiples and chroming. I do not know the exact orice...heck, I don't even know the ballpark price...but I am getting a set regardless. Is there anyone else that wants a set so I can order them? The more that are accounted for the more it spreads the average out.

I have that exact same interior that I bought for my 355 project. I have too many cars and I am too old so I might be interested in selling mine for less than the price of one from Rob. This is one from Rob and it is brand new and uninstalled. Typically I already have more in the parts for my unfinished car than I can sell the car for. So I'll probably part it out.

You might be able to pick up this interior for it!!!

Just remember that if you use the VDO instrumentation with a 3800 SC engine, there are some items that are better handled with the engine out of the car than installed. I detailed them in my install thread.

I talked with the transport driver yesterday and he plans on delivering my Mera on Friday morning. I will be glad to see it here in KC.

The first order of business is new tires. The PO had a set of aftermarket wheels but I got the original Chromodora wheels instead. The tires on them are in dire need of replacement. Any suggestions on tire brand and size to run would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what will be next on the list, exhaust, interior or paint. Maybe just get some tires on it and drive it a bit to make sure all the running gear is OK, then start on the cosmetics.

It's got the 308 badges on it, I would like to put the MERA badges back on it at some point.

Can you post pics of the reproductions next to originals? What is the price for a set?

That will buff right out!

Judging from the size and design of the bumpers it was a 308 kit, not a Mera. The disc brakes are from an 87 on back. Too bad though, it looked to be a nice kit. I wonder why they junked it?

My Mera is a 1988 and I want the look of the Chromodora wheels in a 16" wheel to have a better choice in tires.

There are repro 308 wheels available in 16x7" for the front and 16x8" for the rear, the Chromadoras are 15x7" have a 5.25" backspace and a 30mm offset front and rear.

The rerpro fronts have a backspace of 4.5" with a +13.5mm offset and the rears have a 5.5" backspace with 24.5mm offset.

If I understand how offset and backspace work these wheels will move the tires out 3/4" more than the Chromadoras on both ends.

Has anyone used wheels on their Mera that are close to these specs?

Any thoughts on how they would work out and how they will look on the car would really be appreciated.

I am fairly certain that the rear Chromadoras are 7.5" but I will try to measure one today and post a correction if I am incorrect.

They have a 5x108 lug pattern, if I use them my plan is to re-work the hubs.

The site I found is in the UK.

Nice car, I hope mine turns out as good.

I would be happy with a set of wheels like yours. I haven't found anything close. Compomotive doesn't show any 3 piece wheels on their site that I could find.

Those are nice looking. How much is shipping to the US for these? The Compomotive's on Steve 308's car look nice too. I wonder if they are 5x100 pattern?

Scroll thru all the pictures at the bottom of the ad above and you will see what looks to be a Mera ID tag on the left side of the open decklid picture. I say this one is a Mera. Why don't you contact them and ask for a closeup pic of the Mera ID?

Good observation, Rick, I agree. All indications are that this is a Mera, BUT, the wheels are awful on this car! Also, a three spoke steering wheel would be much more cool--IMHO

The wheel design doesn't bother me that much. They are just to big. Either 19's or 20's from the look. I swap 18's onto my car to change it up from time to time. To me 18's are the largest diameter wheels that look proportional on a car of this size. The wheels pictured have a 1 in spacer behind them to bring the tire out to the edge of the fender.

The 4 spoke steering wheel is correct for an 87 SE but it is missing one horn pad. They tend to break off as they are quite fragile.

Dan, did you notice I said "87 SE" ?

Must recover from Turkey coma............

Good old stock 88 Mera wheels. I had a set of them in white that I sold but I did keep the Mera center caps. BTW. I have an extra set of the optional Chromadoras if anyone needs them. They will not be cheap but they are available.

Saw a set of these in a very light silver gray--very nice.

Edit:

Interesting dash, low miles, lowball bids!

If anyone is looking for a set of 16" 5 spoke Ferrari style wheels Team III still makes them.

I ordered a set last week from Scott at Team III, should be here in a couple of weeks.

I'll post a pic when I get them.

Finally found my EGR problem. I kept getting the dreaded "check engine" light about 30 minutes into a drive. I figured I had a bad selenoid. Awhile back Rodney told me to check everything before I buy a new one. Turns out it was great advice. I found a very small plastic vacuum line had come unplugged at some point. You could barely see it unless you were really looking for it. Placed it back into the rubber line and Voila! No more light! RottinMera is mack to 98%. I still need two things: new headliner and a beechwood aux gauge pod.

The Chromadoras were an option in 1988 (one can assume at a higher price) as I understand it but I do not know exactly when the option was available. I almost bought Bob Bracey's wife's car (white 1988 with auto transmission) and it came with both sets of wheels (stock and Chromadoras) as well as stock and Recarro seats with Mera on them.

Are these the "Dino" style wheels? I did not see any Chromadora look wheels. HRE make some but they are very expensive.
