awesome pics Bryan!... looks like you had a lot of fun. Your bike skills improve any?

Joel... awesome. I wouldn't expect anything less from you. Reminds sorta of the color of your old '88.

I have gotten more toys since this thread last surfaced

81 suzuki GS650E

I got no good pictures of them, but there is also a 79 Suzuki GS1000L and two little Honda 350s, a 71 and a 73. One is getting a bigger fuel tank but mostly stock, the other is going to get a cafe racer look

What I'm hoping it will look something like when I'm done:

My first road bike was an 1980 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim. My Dad bought it new and I remember riding on it with him when I was young. The bike was stored from 1988 to 2006 when I started trying to get it to run again. I got it close and a shop got it the rest of the way. It was fun surprising my Dad one afternoon with a running bike. It's not quite as pretty now as in the picture below but it runs great. I still have it but may give it to a family member to clear out some space.

The XJ didn't have enough power or style so I started pining after an upgrade. I gravitated towards the Power Cruisers and the obvious choice was a Yamaha Roadstar Warrior. Aluminum frame, inverted R1-style forks, and a 1700 cc V-twin.

I bought it used last November. It came with some upgrades and I've added some more, including: Big Air kit, Vance & Hines Pro Pipe, Fi2000 fuel module, integrated turn signals into rear brake light, Yamaha Mini (floor) Boards, and Avon Storm Ultra 2 tires (nice and sticky). It's pretty damn fast. Lots of fun in the corners too.

I loved the XB9/12R's.... I really hope that in a few years Erik Buell Racing gets an affordable production bike out. The new one he just came out with is an absolute monster, but it is too many dollars for me... I love that he managed to come back without Harley weighing him down.

I still have my Kawi 750 Turbo, but it's been one year (April 4th) since I last got off of a motorcycle, and that wasn't intentional. I'd still like to painfully remove certain parts of the anatomy of the filthy bastards who stole my ZX-10R from the accident scene.

I started up the 750 Turbo the other day. I'm going to have to try to get it out for a short ride soon (it needs lots of work so I can't safely go over 40mph or so).

Thought I'd bring this up from the near-dead. My bike is famous (lol), I painted it last year and the paint manufacturer actually tracked me down and asked me if they could post pictures on their website:

http://www.kirkerautomotive....asp?ID=382&SORT=220

First candy (3 stage) I've ever done, it was a PITA, probably won't do one again.

Unfortunately, cagers are blind to this color as well...

Heck, Jazz... They're doing well to see other cars. Nevermind a bike.
Which is precisely why I don't ride any more.
Maybe if I lived/commuted somewhere besides Atlanta...

Sorry to add that air of "bummerness" to the thread.

My V65 Sabre looked just like this, minus the mini fairing.

I've also had an '82 Honda 750 Custom, a '78 Triumph Bonneville, and a '78(?) KZ100. No pics of those.

I am slowly bringing back this "diamond in the rough"

I rebuilt the forks and front caliper, and am installing new wheel bearings.

Yep, been riding for most of March, closing in on 1k miles already this year

Here's a few pics from a trip to the old Packard plant in Detroit a couple weeks ago:

If you're bored and want to see more, the whole mess of pics can be found here. Be patient and wait for all the pics to load, and then clicking on any one of them should open a slideshow that you can click through.
