hrm, hope they dont try to talk him outa it or cause somekinda issue before he leaves :/
I don't think there is any "talking him out of it" right now. I was on the phone with him a little bit ago, and right now it's three people standing around him saying again and again that he is making a mistake, and how terrible it is anywhere else. Their goal right now is to create enough problems to make it hard, or impossible for him to go.

If he leaves, it will be his first decision as a man. His parents may not like it, but they will respect it. Their tone will change when they realize that he is his own man.
This is just the first step in a long road ahead. He still needs to get a job, aquire an education/skill, and support himself. But this is probably the hardest step to take.

As long as it is his choice, and the one he wants to make. He knows anger, hurt, pain already--I would rather not add regret to the mix. If he backs out at the last moment--so be it. Tho I firmly believe he can do at least as well somewhere else, as he is now--I'll certainly not hold it against him however it may play out.

I did a search on OT for his threads. Wow, this dude has had more stuff happen to him than any 10 people I know... and I know some real characters. Yeah, I'd say he needs a new start.
You need to find yourself a good computer/network guru/admin type. There was one around here somewhere not long ago, lookin for a job--and he was even from NY.

You know if he's at the bus station yet? We're dying to know he got on that bus..
Tell him we're all waiting for him out here..
I won't know for sure that he made the bus until Doug makes contact at Sacramento. There was a guy on facebook that was a "long time friend" and was going to make sure he made it no matter what, that found something more important to do. So he won't be able to tell me I guess.

I am leaving now to head to the bus station. I'll post from my cell phone if I don't find him. I need to make a stop before the bus station so I'll probably be there around 7:30. His bus is scheduled to arrive around 7.

Hurray!!! The most difficult and perilous miles of this trip are already behind him. There's a fantastic world of possibilities waiting out on the road for him, if he can only recognize them when he sees them.
