Is the SRT-4 even available yet? I thought that was a 2003 model.

I feel compelled to say this. I own a Mustang(350hp 302), Fiero, and a Neon (as well as a 87 firebird and a Expedition). Depending on the year a Neon could hang with a 5.0 (not sure about winning). Unmodified 5.0. A Neon with a turbo would absolutely waste a mustang or fiero. My Fiero is just about even with the neon, both automatics. This only applies to 95/96 neons as they only wieghed 2500lbs (as opposed to the fiero at 2700). Later cars weigh more and are just not as fast. There are many performance parts for the neon. Mostly suspension though. Autox is the neons event. Ask any of the Xers on here. Those neons are usually on top at the end of the season. Do some research on the internet.

True a TURBO neon would keep up and probably win against a 5.0 or fiero, but trevors aint a turbo from the pic he showed us so theres no way he would beat a 5.0 with a good driver. Its not that i have anything against neons or riceburners in fact that i like the way they look ecpically the talons/eclipse's, but the reason i hate most of them is because they go around saying there stock car with a body kit can waste anything on the block and in fact there slow as &*%^. So trevor i wont think you car can beat anything til i see some pics of the turbo neon.?????????

Sorry if i sound like im being a complete A$$ its just that im sick of ppl going around saying there fiero/neon can waste a stang anyday, i relize that it is a fiero forum and just about everyone on here hates ford as i do to, but theres really no comparison, V6 vs. V8 or I-4 vs. V8, common sense! But when you throw a turbo on aither of the I-4 or V6 then the rules change, if it sounds like im being an A$$ its because i just had 2 more teeth pulled out this afternoon, and the vikidine is feeling pretty good just to let you know i would take a fiero over a stang anyday its just that my parents wouldnt let me get another one, so i had few options then i ran across a good condition stang, and even though i dont like stangs im a fan of any nice sports car>

Dude , hate to burst your bubble , but your mustang is 160Hp version (carb'd) it runs high 15's in the 1/4. A v6 Fiero with a 4spd would be quicker.

Now I wouldn't go trying to race it with a 4cyl Fiero , but it's not that fast , espically since we have forum members who run low 15's on stock motors. MY 86 GT is Faster than my moms 95 5.0ltr, as is our LT1 Caprice (by a wide Margin)

No, a Fiero gt would NOT beat a 5.0, doesn't matter what year. I hate to burst all your bubbles, but a Fiero isn't exactly a fast car, nor does it take corners that well! Sheesh

A 5.0 from 87-93 would most likely take a fiero in a straight line. It just makes sense v8 engine=more torque. But I have to say that alot of older 5.0s without mods would loose to a fiero gt anyday. Look at the numbers and you'll see. As far as handling goes please. Look at the #s.

Thirdly find me a mustang that can outhandle a fiero of similar condition and mods

I forgot to mention that I also like mustangs. I have test driven many fox bodied gts with the intent to buy. The reason that I decided against a fox body was because it handled alot worse than my previous fiero coupe. Of course they have more power but they don't have that much style. The 5.0 is best suited to be a modded drag car. Which it does a really good job at. I'm now very much pleased with my low mileage 86 fiero gt.

some guy got busted before i got to race him or anyone else the cops floded in and impouned his car cuss he has no license.

and running from security in the industreal area.

Haha.. Performance... I don't know where you guys got the idea that Fieros are gods at handling. Just because they have a mid engine, doesn't mean they handle good! First of all, a front engine rear drive is better for 50/50.. Have you guys SEEN the weight dist. on a fiero.. It's terrible.. I'd actually have to go with the neon, stock for stock..

Like I said I own a fiero and a neon. The neons used in autox will out handle and accellarate of corners better then a fiero. Throw your question up in general. I guarantee that you will get responses from AutoXers about that. How do i know? I have seen it in person, and I have read it on this board 100 times.

There are more, just dont have time to read them. Trust me, i aint saying neons are super cars. They do well in autocross. But only in thier class. The Fiero only won the division 1 time in the last 10 years I think. Dont forget to ask about that.
