Ah my fine Fiero Vikings it is time of the great annual challenge to see who has the best and finest Fiero in all of Westfest. Arm yourself with your chamois, sponges, glass cleaner and plenty of armorall and get ready to battle it out on the show field.
We have scheduled the Fest to start on June 27th, at the Pea Soup Anderson's Inn where we will collect Reservations and have a Reception Party.
As a special treat we are trying to arrange a visit for all those interested in visiting Jack's Museum of Gasoline Pumps, memories, and signs housed in Buellton, CA. (www.oilstick.com) Tickets to visit are $10.00 per person. If we get a large enough group interested we will leave around 8pm Friday evening for a private viewing of all the memorabilia and race cars. This place just a few blocks away and is definately outstanding!
Saturday the 28th will the the day of the Show along with the Banquet that evening at the Pea Soup Andersons.
On Sunday the 29th we are planning an early morning breakfast run to Solvang Restaurant, the home of Arne's Famous Aebleskiver. Aebleskiver's are traditional Danish spherical pancakes, somewhat similar in texture to American pancakes and covered in raspberry jam and powdered sugar, very yummy. A delicous way to say good bye to all our favorite friends.

Sounds Good to me. I hope to bring two cars this year. I got a Black 88GT auto with beach leather some time ago and am doing a 4.9 swap into it. I would like to see it there this year. It is NOT a show car, just a daily driver.

We are still deciding on a showfield, but we're hoping to work out a place IN Solvang. Stay tuned.
We spent last weekend there, checking everything out. It's a cool place. The food is great - be sure to try the Danish dishes, like Frikadeller (Danish meatballs in gravy) and Aebelskiver. The sound weird, but they're GOOD stuff.

We figure we did that last year, so we'll do something different. It'll be a buffet at Pea Soup Andersons. And yes, there will be pea soup with dinner.Yum.

I'll have to check on the 10% fee. They never told me about that. There are the usual taxes that are associated with renting hotel rooms but that other fee doesn't sound right Kit and I'll have to check it out. Where did you find out about this fee?
Good news!! Sounds like John is arranging to have the show field in downtown Solvang rather than having us use the hotel parking lot. Final arrangements are being made!! We wanted to have the best place possible for everyone and John is working hard to make it so.

You guys should think about having a group go to grover beach / oceano dunes for a fiero's on the sand sunset. you can drive out on the sand for $5 per car. I actually only live a mile from there and 30 miles from solvang i will be there but with no fiero :-(.

Mary and I made a scouting trip to Solvang yesterday. Since we've secured the parking lot in the middle of Solvang for the show, I thought I'd post some pictures...
Here is the parking lot we will be using. There are trees for shade, and nice views of the surrounding town
The park, right next to the parking lot. Lots of grass and picnic benches
Some of the Danish-themed buildings

Found out that the 10% is just your ordinary room tax whenever you stay at a hotel. They only have 10% in Buelton. I checked around and the area ranges from 8-10%, mostly 10%, with Anaheim at 13% and Fresno at 12%. The lady at the front counter said there are room taxes in other areas that are even higher. There will be no other fees added to the bill unless you use the long distance on your phone.

Hey Dale............is that automatic or stick? Now why can't I find something like that to play with? Anyway, I am hoping that Shaniqua Nicole will be ready by West Fest. Still working on her!!! But, she and I will definately be there finish or not...............now back to your regular program.
Hey Jess... It's a 5-speed. Nice little duke so Marie can get all that good gas mileage! Got just around 35mpg on the way home from San Francisco in it last weekend and that was running near 85 most of the way! Probably would top 40 at the speed limit!
Actually, this is the most modified Fiero I have ever owned. Lots of little goodies been added under the skin of this one!
Hey Chet! How about bringing me all the pieces you take off of your car and I'll just put them on this one! haha

I am lookin forward to your arrival and hope that my 87 SE 4banger will be back on the road when you all get here. The local shops here in Buellton have straighten my frame and aligned my wheels. Bob Mclean has done most of the restoration (brakes, suspension, fuel pump, engine and such). May even have a new paint job (keepin it silver). I've had her for 6 or 7 years now and put some great miles driven from Buellton to Santa Barbara commuting, then my Son drove it for a couple a years delivering pizzas until a chrismas tree crossed his path and scrambled the suspension and the ignition linkage wore out as well. Thanks to the Fiero Store, Fiero Factory, these Forums, and YouTube, da car will be back cruisen these back country roads. Here is one of my favorite weekend putts.
The Buellton Loop
Taking a putt from Anderson’s in Buellton. Go south on Avenue of the Flags to Santa Rosa Road which bears to the west. There are two or three Wineries down this windy country two lane. Then at Hwy 1 turn right (north) head through Lompoc and at the north end of H street head up over the Harris Grade and turn right at CA-135 to Los Alamos (check out the Lariat Saloon and Charlie’s Cafe). Head west a little bit at Bell Street (.9 mi) to Cat Canyon and left at Hwy 101 (3.3 mi.) Then right on Palmer Road (6.5) turn right at Foxen Canyon Road and there will be A half dozen or more Wineries including Fess Parkers (Davey Crockett) and so on For 20 miles to Hwy 154 turn left and catch the east end of the Santa Ynez Valley At Hwy 246 make a right which brings you back toward the west again. Now you can stop in Santa Ynez and check out the Maverick Saloon or keep Heading west to the Chumash Casino (brunch $ 7 bucks) and/or Solvang. Now at the beginning of Solvang make a left at Alisal Road and on the left just past the Royal Scandinavian Inn is the Vintage Motorcycle Museum. You can just hang out in Solvang or follow Alisal Road to Nojoi Falls And to Hwy 101 where you would turn right and be back in Buellton.
Ask me about Cold Springs Tavern when you guys get here.

That looks like Tim Toy's old black coupe..... This car has HID's as I recall and they were pretty bright!
