i wish i knew.....I call it "Mera X" as the unknown in algebra. no sticker early signs of production being an SE with a early VIN but Rodney sauys thats moot. uhhh..... subtle differences i consider Bugs and/or Flaws in the design they tweaked out thru production. outside of that its a 1987 Fiero Mera sold to me by the guy who at the time Owned Bob Braceys OG Northstar V8. so i got pedigree and quirks that lead me to believe i have one of the first 1987's built..... not to brag. yeah right. who dat fool on the hill??? i missed that car. its been as long broke as i have been here. no car no show glad to see Tom is still around or so it was seen i dipped in more out than in tho.

This is the first two tone Mera that I have ever seen. Is this factory paint or a respray?

It is factory paint. I attached a copy of the badge. This car was owned originally by Gerald Schavillie who was on the design team at Corporate Concepts. I spoke to him a few months ago and he believed it was the only two tone one and he also added the WORX wheels that you see. This car definitely has pedigree and I have the manuals to prove it.

It is a nice looking car with some good history. I wish you well with the sale.

I believe these were original to the car. Look at this sales flyer. The original owner was on the design team and took a few liberties.

John,

The wheels appear to be similar to the Chromadoras but I think that I see differences in the rim and the center section. I will take a closer look sometime today when I am near a set of known Chromadoras. Not the best photo for this purpose but here is an 88 with Chromadoras.

It really is hard to tell from the drawing which wheels they are. From my conversation notes he said he put the different wheels on it. Could it have been after he got it? Sure but that wasn't my takeaway from from the conversation. I think those early cars were still in the design phase. The motor plate says MERA Pontiac Racing Division on it. Have you seen that on any other MERAs?

The rims on your vehicle are not OEM. The 87s used the stock honeycomb style of wheel. The Chromadoras also had a large plastic wheel center that covered the log nuts as well as the small center cap. I also believe that the engine nameplate is not OEM since none of mine had this item. I also know that Rodney and maybe a few other people produced a similar if not identical motor nameplate as an after market item.

The honeycomb wheels also came in several different colors and were even stock on the 88s. The Chromadoras were just an option for the 88s. As an aside, I know that Bob Bracey's wife's personal Mera was white and had both the stock honeycomb wheels in white as well as the Chromadoras. It also had Recarro style seats in addition to the stock seats, I considered buying the car and inspected it very closely prior to declining the opportunity.

That is one very distinctly beautiful MERA - Congrats!

Questions: What size are the wheels and tires, and do you know the offsets?

Thanks

Whoa.... i have always wanted a 2 tone Mera. and to be Official?? Hot Dog.
so this is super cool. makes me want to peel apart the Mystery of My Mera it has the most Mera "bugs" aside from #6001, i think, so i kinda refer to it in defense at car shows that i have Mera #7000 until further notice My Vin also thru a repo friend tracked to an address across the street of the Fiero Factory, in Pontiac Mr Marcell Davis?? remember him?? maybe he was a heavy in town too. i love these cars. the Provenance is so fun to explore with truth about its origins in document with Rodneys Archives.....the cars still pop up and seem to hold their Own as a Auto instead of a "halfway done" masterpiece/disaster "kit" car just waiting to happen. i am glad i had the swap done . so fun!
*edit* oh and i can confirm Mr Schavillie as a previous owner

It is factory paint. I attached a copy of the badge. This car was owned originally by Gerald Schavillie who was on the design team at Corporate Concepts. I spoke to him a few months ago and he believed it was the only two tone one and he also added the WORX wheels that you see. This car definitely has pedigree and I have the manuals to prove it.

oh i would love to meet that dude...... i bet He Knows A Lot. i used to post all the time and had a few issues with my rig so i laid low. well its back and full of mystery's i want to ask Gerald if it was client advise to round off the engine grill dagger points oh and the use and discontinued use of the alumunium blank offs.... and my mirror theory too..... whoops sorry i am still a spaz so i was never big on computers just babbling about cool stuff. thats a disclaimer up front

I did speak to Gerald a few months ago when I started piecing together the history. When I feel i have compiled a complete list of questions I will reach out again and hope that he will be as gracious as last time. If anyone knows teh answer to these feel free to reply.

7020 Vins out as an SE. I thought all 87's were GT's
He indicated that these were the wheels he put on at Corporate Concepts. I suppose he would have had that authority.
The Engine Plate reads MERA Pontiac Racing Division - How many MERAs have that?
Is this indeed the car in the flyer(it almost has to be because of teh two tones)

If you would like to see a bit more of the car here is a link to my raw video footage from last week. We are making a MERA history video/car ad.

Questions: What size are the wheels and tires, and do you know the offsets?

Thanks

Miller, The first thirty or so MERAs appear to all be built on SE chassis, and after that, C.C. may have switched to GT 's. At least all the low number 1987 MERAs owned by the Pennock's members who have posted here are SE based cars. My #7029 is an SE, for example.

To my eyes, the wheels on the two tone car in the flyer look to be Cromodora's, as John first posted, and yet your car does look like it could be the same MERA. Just my view FWIW.

The paint looks very different in the video. The lower portion is much lighter in the video. The car is often in "shadow" from trees and the position of the sun. The car looks very nice. When will it be for sale?

Jessica,

The Chromadoras have a smooth rim where the photo clearly shows bolts, rivets, or something similar, The Chromadoras also have a somewhat indented section for the large smooth wheel covers over the small center section wheel center, The Chromadora offsets are also correct only for the 1988 Mera and look "funny" when installed on an 87 Mera.

One of my 87 Meras came with Chromadoras and iit was one of the first things I changed. I am also curious as to what the wheel diameter is on the photographed car and know that the Chromadoras were 15" only.

.

The red car has Chromadoras and the charcoal one has a similar designed wheel.

Nelson
