HOT TIME IN THE OLD TOWN!!!!!

The house across the street from mine is burnt to a crisp! Lots of smoke, a complete loss. Nobody home in either units, only a couple of smoky cats.
The guy had 5 old cars in the basement garage (Nomad's, Mustang, Firebird & GTO) all untouched. My fear is it would spread to our house, but the Fire Department was right on it and did a great job, at one point there were 12 trucks here. Hell of a way to spend a Saturday. In true Wisconsin fashion they "rescued" the guys Packer collectables!

More than finding a good engine and putting it in the Mera--Rick or Nelson should be able to advise.

Dan,

I believe that the LT1 engine can be installed in a Mera with minimal mods but the six speed transmission may require an adapter plate and the kit for this is around $3000 if I remember correctly. If the 383 engine can be made to fit in an 88 the LT1 should be easier in an 87.

Nelson

Hey B666,

Did I read correctly somewhere on here that you work in Heavy construction?
If so, what is your trade and have you ever thought of coming to Canada to work on a travel card permit?
There's a lot going on up here, both at the Oil Sands in Alberta and in Ontario at the Bruce Power NGS restart on Units 1 & 2. So keep your spirits up, because 'tough times don't last, but tough people do'!

Cheers.

That definitely is worse than the Mera bumper. Without them, or possibly if the car was painted black it would look much better.

Ya know, that's really a good looking car--except for the front bumper--but don't blame the Brits for the ugly, it's the US DOT's fault. I like the convertible/targa top.

P.S. All week will be in the 60's (winter coat weather for the "Litter Box Boyz") so guess whats coming out to play?

40's? That's our bath water up here! You boys are getting too soft

Just made the switch: The Mera & the Yamaha 650 are back in the garage, the MB is in the storage tent, and my truck is still ready for winter? spring? fall?
This year is nuts, 20's and snow last week, 60's this coming week, and stuff is blooming? I don't get it, and I don't trust that it will last.

Don't forget six (6) seis of those 88 Mera's are built on GT's instead of Formula's....

Only 6 GT's out of 159 cars? Mines #2 & a GT, are all the GT's early cars?

From what I understand that is correct. Since the Formula was new for 88 they may have been harder to get for Corporate Concepts initially. The other theory is that These particular cars were special orderd with options not available on a Formula. Hence a GT was necessary to build the car to the customers specifications.

Mine is # 8011 and is a GT with factory Pontiac leather seats, and Performance Sound. These options were not orderable on a Formula. On an 88 you can verify the model by the VIN number. Formula's have a different VIN than GT's

It would be interesting to see how many 87's were built on V6 SE's vs. GT's that year. I believe the VIN # is different on those as well. It was to Corporate Concetps advantage to start with an SE or Formula since they were lower priced to begin with. Those models would be the most profitable for them. Especially if they could sell upgrades like their own leather interior package.

8004 is an 88 built on a GT platform and 8095 is an 88 on a SE type platform.

soo far out of the 13 @ 1987 Mera (partial VINs only) i have only one is an SE platfrom
wonder what one that is?

as you all know, the '86 Proto is an SE also....but according to Mera folklore...they used the GT in '87 for the most part, for some reason. even mentions in some articles about the waste of time to take off the GT panels vs the SE's.
if they did in fact use an SE to make the Proto type and My Mera #7002, well they knew better, also.....the dummies.
i have my rear aluminum taillight cover off, still and it still hits me when i see the word "Auto" written in black sharpie.....makes me thing CC used it to identify the early Mera " Auto"-matic version at a car show...or something actually Julian had pics from a car show in Detroit where they had 2 Mera togeather, never know, eh??
