Thanks guys, this place is like a very comfortable coffee house, with some real honest, and good people, now if we could only get some donuts.
Strange, we all have the same destination, the only differences are which train we leave on, and how soon we board.
With your kind permission, I would like to stay in touch with "you all" (except Richard's snake) even if I should sell the Mera.

Wayne

Now that's what I am talking about, sign me up Dan, I will bring the sweet & sour sauce for those snake McNuggets.
Just how many of the brotherhood do you think we can see on the way? Heck, we might even get us a convoy going!

Don't count me out yet guys, I can carry an oxygen tank if I have to, they make small ones now. Just remember what they say: "Life is what happens when your making plans."

dan, if you were more mechanically inclined i would send you a motor and trans for your build. lsv8 and f23 5 speed transmission. bullit proof combo. stock would make 350hp at the rear wheels on pump gas. have spare engine and spare f23 you just pay the shipping. there would be other costs of coarse but would be a good start. later dude

wow!! thanks....i would come get it, that would be worth the price of admission alone......and hopefully its not cold, wherever "it" is??!!
too bad the LS's cost so much to install.

i think thats why i am sticking with a 3.4, turbo maybe to top it out if i need more, go.
but mostly i need a quick road course car....so i can stomp/hold my own with them more faster types....mostly hot Japaneese hatchback, tuner cars with alot of SuperCars sprinkled throughout. ecspecially on Ferrari track day.....oh and theres a PorscheTrackDay, too.
i make friends real easy.......

so after i get the driving instructor and the track Ref. in my corner i will own GingerManRaceway.......by skill or something.

i need more off the line and out the corner acceleration.
top speed is secondary, to the thrill of passing a lesser driver in a greater car!!

wonder what (in a Mera)??? is the least amount of Tourque/HorsePower one would need to generate, to keep up with the new Camaro/Mustangs??

and if suspention up grades (poly swap) can handle track corners, and beat the Modern American Muscle??

i cant wait!!

but in all fairness, LEE??? if you are serious i will come get it.......next weekend!!!!???PM if you want!!!
never look a gift horse in the mouth i have bee told...........i will but it in my TransAm and swap the LT1 in now to a Fiero or Mera X!
i would want the larger power in the heavier car........right??

My 383 is now operational and that engine will give you an adequate amount of power for just about anything.

Not a bad idea, we will have to wait until Spring at least. But what happens if in a moment of weakness, or necessity I sell my Mera?

dan, i have a 2006 lsx 5.3 truck derivitave v8, and a f23 ecotec trans both that you can have. you will need a f23 60 degree bellhousing, my v8 adapter, fiero guru's flywheel, stock fiero clutch setup, mattwa's f23 cable, a ls1 intake, and ls1 wiring harness with ecm and fuel pump. stock ls1 exhaust manifolds and have a muffler shop custom build the rest of the exhaust once the engine is mounted in the car. you need to make some engine and trans mounts and a dakota digital to make the speedo work. you will need a ls4 starter and i can make you a starter mount for the tranny side. your stock mera axles will work with the f23. there will be other incidentals but thats the bulk of it. i will give you the engine and trans free of charge for the mera project. good luck on your build.

i think thats why i am sticking with a 3.4, turbo maybe to top it out if i need more, go.

wonder what (in a Mera)??? is the least amount of Tourque/HorsePower one would need to generate, to keep up with the new Camaro/Mustangs??

The LS motored Mera would definitely out perform a stock Camaro or Mustang V8 car. The turbo 3.4 would probably hang with the V6 versions, perhaps even out run them based on the weight differential of the cars.

My ideal swap would be the new LFX 323 hp 3.6 DI motor in the Camraro and CTS. This would give the Mara a more european 60 degreee engine sound and a usable 6800 RPM redline. Plus that fact the 3.6 DI gets 30 mpg in an 1000 lb heavier Camaro is not bad either.

Do you know of anyone who's done the LFX swap?

No one has a running swap currently as far as I know. There is one forum member gathering parts for one at this time. Actually any Malibu, CTS, Camaro, Traverse 3.6 would run great in a Mera. The DI motors have the best power, and the LFX has the new head design that would make it an even easier fit in the Mera engine compartment.

di's always make more hp an tq than their mfi mpi counter parts. less moving parts, less parts overall, simpler design and good mpg.

well Lee.....thanks for that. wow! let me ask, how much in said extras $$ will need to be allocated??
compared to a 3.4L or even a 3.8 if i decide to go that way.

I, so far, only blew one engine, 4 clutches and one 6 speed tranny whoops.....
oh and speaking of clutches i think Mera X,needs to stay an Automatic.
i dont like the lag between shifts and the potential for human error....in the manuals.
but, that means more HP and more Tq is the only way to fix and compensate....i know i am a "flopper"

I dont know. what to do, what to do?? then i see this.....maybe over 350 HP is a bad thing for me
cuz i would and sometimes do, in public.

that looks nice dan... like that intake!!! i was thinking the 3500ish was installed. you would have to be thrifty on the 4t65ehd but very doable. the lsx v8 is yours for the mera project if you want it. if not its cool to. later gator.

Silly question BUT..... if we had a Mera rally in Capac MI, how many can make it? We can talk dates later....but right now I'm talking distance to drive.

My thought was this..... we have 3 or 4 Mera rallys across the USA on the exact same day! We call it ..... MERAS ACROSS AMERICA RALLY.

I know we have a hand full up here in the North East, some in Florida, several out West...... so we pull out a map, put pins in it and see how many sites we need so people don't have to drive 700 miles to come to a rally.
Then we pull out a calendar...... run a survey in here as to what month we want this to happen....... then we pick the weekend in that month and make it the same weekend every year....but the sites could change.
We could have a rule that 4 MERA's need to attend to make it official (just thinking out loud)..... We make up a logo with a place to enter the name of the city below..... we open it up to MERA's, Ferrari kits and Fieros.... but we celebrate the MERA. The 308 kits are spinoffs or cousins of the Mera and the Fiero is the reason we have MERAS. So I guess we can say it's open to any car that has MERA DNA..... shoot we may as well invite a few real 308's since if it wasn't for Magnum PI's 308 the MERA as we know it would not be here today.

Who thinks this is a good idea? If enough people say yes, we should open up a thread just for MERAS ACROSS AMERICA RALLY and start planning. We will need an event organizer for each location (once we select the locations) and an overall coordinator.

Picture this....the day after the rally we would have so many pictures of our event because it will atract more than just 5 or 6 Meras... our event would look huge!!!!!!! Some pics with mountains, others in the desert, Hawaii, Michigan..... man I'm getting a chubby thinking about this.

comments? (not about my chubby).......

If we only need four Meras to have an event, I could have my own at my home in South Carolina and welcome anyone else who wants to attend.

Leezard... I heard about a reunion but in never came to light probably because depending on the location some can not attend due to distance.,..... this is where the twist comes in...... we have it in multiple places...... on the same day..... this will get the larger response..... and we invite any car that had MERA DNA...... but it remains a MERA event.
