The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the greatest team ever! There is no better feeling than to cheer on a tem for years, and everyone thinks they suck (well, ok they did suck) but then Tony Dungy comes in and turns things around and those guys are awesome. Mike Alstott is not human! there are a lot of guys who are big power backs and can run through people, and also a lot of shifty RB's. But how many can do both like the A-train?
NOBODY!
I just had to let everyone here know that!
P.S. Fieros and NFL are great accompanying hobbies. When it starts to snow, I put the car away and watch football. Then the day after the superbowl, i start working on my car projects and gettin ready for spring.
P.S.S. NO! it is not snowing in Canada yet!!!

Being in Wisconsin, of course I love the Packers--no matter how hard they make it this year. So I'm not thrilled that the Buccaneers are good now. I am glad for you, though, that you can enjoy this year. I don't see the Bucs advancing to the Super Bowl because of Shaun King, but hey, at least you will have a team in the playoffs this year.
I do have to say that I find Mike Alstott about the most over-rated player in the NFL. He is good for a couple of highlight runs a game but I don't see the overall production from him to justify him in the Pro Bowl.
I'm surprised you are so crazy about the Buccaneers and not the BEST TEAM OF ALL ORGANIZED FOOTBALL--the HAMILTON TIGERCATS!!!!
I'd wait a few more weeks before crowning them the best ever. They've got a ways to go to prove themselves the equal of for example the '85 Bears or '72 Dolphins, beating the Patriots by 5 points last week isn't enough.
Gotta to hand it to Dungy though, he's done a good job making the team respectable. Not unlike the job Bill Parcells did for both New England and New York.

I'm an Eagles fan,but only in the sense that when they play I feel an obligation to watch them.My son in law and his kids are big Cowboy fans,It broke my heart to call them after the game and tell them the Cowboys SUCK!This week should be good,Eagles vs Giants.Ron Dayne plays for the Giants and graduated from the same high school as all my kids. This should be an emotionally trying game(not).I'm not that much of a fan,but I will enjoy it.

I kinda feel sorry for all you guys worring about how your teams are gonna do this year. In MN we know how the Vikes are gonna do every year. Which is have a fairly respectable season, beat up on the Cowboys at least once, make it to the playoffs and then blow it. 9 years running and Denny Green still swears by his master plan, whatever the hell that is?!?

I'm just happy that my Browns aren't going to be the NFL's doormat again this year - looks like that job will revert to the Bengals, where it belongs (sorry BENGAL4). I'd be happy with 8-8 this year!
The Buccaneers defense is incredible - Warren Sapp is a monster. But their offense is so unpredictable. This could be the Bucs' year, though - the Rams' defense looks vulnerable and the Redskins aren't producing like the should.

Hey mrfixit58, have you ever been to a bucs game?!?
Since i live in Canada i can't go to any games but someday i will!
You may find it strange that I don't like the CFL. I'm a really proud Canadian but my nationalistic pride is not blind. I do not choose to watch a league that is significantly inferior. I think the rules stink (you get a point for a touchback-thus, a missed field goal, etc.) But enough bi*ching about that. This is going to be one of the best years that the NFL has ever seen because the five teams that I dislike are: San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Miami, Green Bay, & Dallas.
This NFL chat is great, let's see if we can keep it goin all season!

Big test for your Buccaneers this week in the Silverdome--tough place to play.
Still love the Packers, even though this is going to be a llllonnnnngggg year.
RiceCooker, interesting choice of teams you hate. Just curious why those particular teams? Now Dallas, well, duh, that's obvious. Who doesn't hate them? San Francisco--the Forty Whiners, so that's a given. Packers--obvious, because for all those years they STOMPED the Buccaneers and RULED the division (ah, the good OLD days). The Dolphins, I assume is territorial envy. Why the Steelers? Because they are so cheap they could only afford to put there logo on one side of their helmets? Enquiring minds want to know.
P.S. I can't wait for the Buccaneers to have a "turn back the clock game" so they can bring out their "gay pirate" uniforms again. Disclaimer: if anyone on the forum is gay, I'm not picking on homosexuals.
"Gay pirate uniforms." Oh, God, that's funny. Would that make them butt pirates? If they win the Super Bowl, will they be Jolly Pirates?
I'm just kidding. Like Frontal Lobe, I'm no homophobe. I'd better watch it, or I'll come home to find 1000 activists with signs blocking my front door - or Mike Alstott and Warren Sapp waiting to kick my butt. I'm not sure which is worse.

yes, I've been to several games over the last 25 years. I can't say I made a regular thing out of it though. I really got tired of the Culverhouse family sucking the life out of the team. But, they are my hometown team so I've always looked forward toward better times. Now there here and I'm LOVIN'IT!
Frontal Lobe: yes the Silverdome is a tough place to play and the Bucs have always found interesting ways to lose up there. But the difference in this years team is the production on offence (so far). I'm not sold on Shaun King... yet. But Les Stecil(?) seems to bringing him along pretty well.
Regarding the old uniforms... there weren't too many jokes about them in the late seventies when the made it all the way to the NFC Championship game. All anyone ever talked about was the total domination of Lee Roy Selmon and the rest of the wreaking crew defence. Kind of like... NOW!
I, personally, don't care if they play in pink tutus (totos ??)... as long as they continue to win. But I do admit, I like the new uniforms better.

The steelers, i dont like because they have been one of the most overrated teams of the last few seasons. - Kordell Stewart has a worse identity crisis than ricers, why would they even think of giving him another chance? - They even drafted a receiver in the first round out of a school that has been known for a few "busts" and the #1QB chad Pennington was available! Those are just a couple of reasons.
Mrfixit58, you are my idol

Lee Roy Selmon, now there was an AWESOME player. Ricky Bell (sadly, deceased.), Doug Williams. That was a good team.
The Steelers should have skipped drafting the receiver, put Kordell Stewart at receiver instead, and drafted Pennington. Unless the Steelers want to start running an option offense, give up on Stewart at QB. Sorry.
Note to all Steeler fans (and others): the rest of the country thinks Bill Cowher's act is LAME. Those Dr. Pepper ads of his are big b, big a, big d--BAD.

God, living somewhat in the vicinity of Steeler territory, I see those damn fans all the time. When the Ravens first started playing here, I went to the game (then played in the old memorial stadium) against the steelers, and was SHOCKED to see almost as many steeler fans as ravens fans! Of course now it is different since the city got into the team. I especially loved in when the Ravens SHUT THEM OUT at HOME!! A teacher in my school loves them and he used to rub it in so bad when they killed us. Now its our turn....
Ravens are atleast making it to the playoffs, possibly to the big game, if Banks stays consistent and keeps throwing to Sharpe...

Has anyone else firugred out why the rams games have basketball scores. It's because the rams offense is just too damn good! Their scoring drives last about 4 plays and 40 seconds, then the defense has to come back out on the field too. The defense gets so tired from playing 55 minutes a game, that they just can't stop the other team, not even seattle!

Well the Bucs blew out the Lions this week! I live about 35 minutes from Raymond James Stadium so it looks like mrfixit is still the closest. Its amazing the way the media around Tampa is going nuts over the Bucs. I see alot of cars riding around with the little flags on them which was never ever seen before the Bucs started winning. I have been to 6 Bucs games, most of them when they stank the big one. I remember a game I went to where they lost to Steve Young and the 49ers 45-21. I believe that was in 93 or 94. Im just happy they replaced the Orange and Bucko Bruce. LOL!!! Go Bucs!

I don't think Vinny Interceptaverde has changed much since his days in Cleveland. He's only as good as his offensive line - put a little pressure on him and he'll throw up the easy interception. And if there's anything the Bucs can do well, it's pressure a quarterback. Bucs by 10.
Isn't anybody else around here a Browns fan? They've already won as many games as they won all last year! I can't see them doing any better than 8-8, but at least they're going the right direction! You can see what a powerhouse they will be in a year or two.

Yep, those browns are tied for the division lead! Want to know another reason why I hate the Steelers? 14 seconds left, inside the 20, down by three, no timeouts left. Kick the field goal and send it into OT right? Nope. Let's run a play and get sacked and run out of time before we can kick the field goal. Oh, dear. Just when Steeler fans thought it couldn't get any worse.
Did i hear someone in here say Mike Alstott was the most overrated player in the NFL? How can someone be overrated when the defense has to put three guys to tackle him, and he still powers through!
Bring on the Jets! Their only game is getting the run established with Martin and then won't be doin that against the Bucs. Vinny will drop back and Sapp and co. are gonna let im have it!

Hey, maybe Testaverde can hit some Buccaneers this week--only about 7 years too late!
Man, wish I could have seen Cowher's face. Wait, no I don't. Can I have that wish back?
Alstott, still WAY over-rated. Not because he isn't good, just because of how he is rated.
Green Bay in the desert this week. Wait, that's where they've been the last 3 weeks--wandering. Don't worry, Greg Piet. I still love my Packers. They just are making it mighty hard this year.

Brett Favre is the most overrated player on the planet!!!
He had a couple of great years and nobody realized that it was only because of the talent he had around him. Look at him now that he is on a mediocre team.
Here come the flames but, Jeff Garcia is a better QB than Brett Favre anyday of the week. Next year the 49ers will draft Michael Vick #1 out of Virginia Tech and Trade Garcia to a better team. Then everyone will realize just how good Garcia is.
Just imagine how bad Brett Favre would do as the 49ers QB this year....
2 games into the season and it already SUCKS. I am, however, one of the few loyal Bengal fans around. Most of our fans are fair weather, ready to jump on and off the bandwagon at a moments notice. When we start winning again and we will, they will come out of the woodwork. I hope I am still young enough to get in their face when it happens (I'm 42). Ah hope rings eternal in Cincy until September (7 & 37 in Sept since 1991)then reality sets in. Thanks for letting me vent.
P.S. Chadman, just remeber. IF IT'S BROWN, FLUSH IT DOWN.

Hang in there. If anyone knows how you feel it's me. I've been a Buc's fan since the beginning so, been-there, done-that. The problem with the Bengals is the same as with the Bucs of the 80's... office personnel SUCKS! The team will only get better when they flush them and start over. The best thing that happened to the Bucs organization was when Culverhouse DIED. There is no reason for a team to remain in the cellar year after year unless the owner wants them to. PERIOD!
That's a good joke, BENGAL. But the only "brown" I can think of that needs flushing right now is Mike Brown! Don't worry - someday he'll sell the Bengals and maybe they'll start winning again.
But you're a good man for sticking by your team, BENGAL - unlike the Bengals and Steelers fans around my office. Last year, they spent a lot of time around my desk busting my chops about how their teams were stomping my Browns. This year, I can't seem to find those guys anywhere...

Elway was the most overrated player in NFL history. Ask most people under the age of 30 who the best QB is and they will probably say Elway!!! That is a travesty. I can think of 5 other QB's off the top of my head who would out throw, out run, and out smart Elway on any given Sunday....

I agree with that. I always thought Smelway was over-rated. Then at the end of his career, he rides Davis' coat-tails to a couple of super-bowl wins. How heart-warming, considering that everything I read about him for the first ten years of his career was he was a selfish, self-centered jerk. However, if I am wrong, perhaps some of our colorado members could correct this (wkayl, etc.)

Wow guess that puts the Vikes back into the division lead! BTW speaking of overrated, Redskins? Can you actually buy a bunch of merc's and win a superbowl?
Maybe all those egos in Washington are having trouble getting along? Looks like another crazy year in the NFL. I still think this years Bucs are the real deal though. Testaverde to Chrebet has been fun to watch but the Jets can't ride last minute comebacks all the way to the Super Bowl.
My Browns got their butts handed to them yesterday in Oakland. Man, it was ugly. But not quite as ugly as the Ravens' whooping of the Bungles. Poor BENGAL4. He's a good man. He deserves a better team. There's room on the Browns bandwagon for one more, Bill. I'll scoot over and make room for you. We might be able to squeeze Bruce Coslet on here too, now that he's out of a job.
I will never give up. I would watch soccer, before rooting for the Browns. Yesterday had to be the worst I have ever seen. Total loss of control of a team by a head coach. I'm glad he's gone. Had to be some changes made.
I'm though venting. Thanks.

Believeit it or not, this thread was the first thing I thought of when Alstott coughed up the ball. I started heading for my computer but thought I'd better cool off for a little while.
MAN! Just when you thought the ol' buccos were gone, they give you another performance (or lack there of) like this Sunday. Maybe it's was just oo much mouth and not enought film.
Johnson was a non-factor. Alstott can't seem to remember to use TWO hands when running into traffic. And, the coaches seem to think an eight point lead is enough to win even with more than one and a half quarters left to play.
Like I said in my earlier post, I'm not completely sold on Shaun King. It also seems that the coaches aren't either. After his second pick, the offence got started to look like last year, run, run run, punt.
Well, maybe next week. Hopefully, this is a wake up call.
