Stripped and painted the trunk latch mechanism and solenoid, wire wheeled the heat shield behind the exhaust manifold, primed the center vent cover, and repainted the strut mounting brackets on the driver's side strut tower.

KICKED IT, and then myself. This past weekend i decided it was time to get to it and get it (87 GT) out of my driveway and into the garage. Unfortunately it's been sitting for WAY too long and i can't get it to fire up. No spark. I can't wait to discover what things have gone from ok to junk. Luckily I have a2.8/3.4 Stroker crate motor from ARI Racing Engines, a Fiero warehouse 355 nose, Kahines 308 tailight panel, stage 2 side and hood scoops from the Fiero Shop International and a bunch of other crap..i mean stuff all waiting patiently to go in it. Now it's time to just do it!

removed the engine decklid, stripped off the paint I applied last year, that started cracking 7 months later( ), resprayed it, drilled the holes to fit the new (not original) spoiler I found in a scrap yard and painted that too. Also repaired the damage done the first day I parked the car in the street after having completely reprayed it by a truck backing into it (didn't see it happen...GRRRRR!) Removed and polished the driver side rear light ready to put it on eBay (brand new last year..storm during the winter ripped some roof slates off the house across the road and made a big hole in the passside light/lens ) I have ordered a pair of new/imperfect lenses from Fiero Store to fit onto the old lights I had in my garage so I will have a matching pair, if not perfect, and hope to get some of the cost back by selling my remaining newish unmarked one. Tomorrow I am going to refit the decklid with the new spoiler, and will take a couple of photos for anybody who wants to see/critique(.D) my choice!
Nick

The new wing/spoiler is on!!
First, the cracked paint. When I rubbed it down, I discovered the decklid had been painted in SIX different colours before ! Bad prearation between coats 2 and three was the cause of the delayed cracking Hope I have cured THAT now!!

Now..the new wing/`spoiler:

I am sure everybody agrees that the wing makes no difference to performance, and because I think the original wing is vastly over-stated ( ), I really think this one flows beautifully with all the lines of the car's bodywork. I have no doubt many Fiero 'Purists' will find this to be wrong..but as somebody said..it is your ride, if it works for you, just DO IT!! So......I DID!
It is staying

Nice Timo .
How come you don't have the sharky grills on ?
And also i noticed that your bumper is not set properly on the right hand side reflector .
I know it happened to me a few weeks ago at the paint shop
Or is it the accident with the truck you're talking about?
And i have a 95% shape right hand side lense sitting right here .

Is that for me Robert? Timo is Fiero1Fan

Yes, the bumper is distorted around the rear right reflector, but I don't know why!! When I had it off the car to respray it, I saw the plastic had become deformed, but the steelwork underneath seemed to be fine. I tried to straighten it out with my heatgun, but it went strsight back the way it was when it cooled down
Darn!! I posted a couple of times asking if anybody had a RHS tail lens!! Guess you never noticed I ended up ordering a pair of 'seconds' from Fiero Store...they wouldn't sell me just one!!! AGGGH!!
Thanks!
Nick
Edit to add: the grills are off because I removed the decklid to respray it, and I want to buiff the new paintwork before I put it all back together properly

Cause i bought the quarter windows ( sharky) from him i was wondering how come you didn't get them on your car ( sorry )

Ok i mixed you and the other .
That was for you .
I saw you had a broken lense , but you had already ordered the ones from FS .
Maybe your bumper is not sitting properly in the kind of bumper pad underneath , that was my problem .
They took it out replaced it and no more bump .
Worked for mine doesn't mean i'll be the same for you .
This is why i noticed it right away .

Took a break from doing swirl removal and installed new (to the car) wiper arms I got from Fiero Thomas. Much better! About to go finish swirl removal and get a coat or two of Zymol on the car then finish detailing.

Well lots of progress but nothing really to show. Its all been wiring work, so I could post lots of photos of wiring looms but that is kinda boring. LoL!

So here is the underhood. It not cleaned and painted yet but we added a battery cut of switch, a new battery, a new battery hold down, hard wired in a float charger for winter storage, and yes that is a outlet mounted in there as well. We have set it up so when you store the car you just switch the battery off and reach under the front bumper and plug the float charger in and you are done! No mess!

Took my tailights off to drop new bulbs in all the way around.

Hint* put a peice of ice on top of each seized screw and walk away till it melts.
After the ice melts it should come right out-metal contracts when cold

Of course when I get them off,i've bought the wrong bulbs.
Autzone computer told me all 2057's-only 1 on each side is 2057.
The rest are 1156's.

Resprayed all the bolts on the motor again with penetrating fluid in preparation for some maintance in the near future.

Have half a trunk full of odd and end new parts-will be posting in this thread often in the coming weeks I feel.

Getting my heads back from my machine shop. Hopefully I'm Finally at the turning point where I'm no longer pulling dead parts and I'm ready to start bolting on new stuff to get the car runnign. I have till the end of August before the lease is up at my apt. too.... hmmm....

Edit: Heads werent' done yet so I ran around town to find the right pressure switches for my HR6 AC Compressor as I'm ditching the unfriendly-to-R134A DA6 compressor. Looks like I'm replacing the calipers, hoses, and pads later on this evening too. Yay! I love progress!
