Same reason I build myself kits .... I still prefer owning a 'fake' one for myself. I like the looks of a Countach, but you couldnt give me a real one for free that wouldnt go up for sale the next day.
You said it. The new exotics, Especially the Ferraris, look like a joke; look like stuck-on LEDs from PepBoys around the headlights. The 308 / 328 / 288GTO and earlier were Pininafarina's best work, but the mechanicals were still junk. I've bought OEM ferrari parts for my kits. I've had (3) jaguars and they're just as bad. For me, i wanna build something with the looks I like, automatic trans. for traffic and all the conveniences I can stuff in the inside

i've found the jaguar dealerships and ferrari parts sources to be of the same rotten ilk. Grab the sucker's money and walk away. Remember when Rolls Royce had personal 24/7 roadside assistance for each of their customers ? Welcome to the "new normal". Lamborghini, jaguar, etc. = Dodge, General Motors. Nice to hear he won.

In my opinion, it's a dog and poney show for a replica owner. The can't afford the original nor can they afford a high end replica so they opt for the cheapest mass produced replica on the market-a kit that is so far off the mark, but contains slight iconic features with badges. Why do they do it? They want the name, the recognition, & notoriety regardless of how cheap the kit may be. Sad. Instead of using their imagination and creating something new they's rather ride the coat tails of Ferrari and lamborghini.
i dont agree with this totally. some of it yes. there are obvious posers in all types of motorsports, so on. i have a replica of sorts, a mera. i bought it not to be a poser but for the gm part of it. i work on real 308's and they are pos's mechanically. i like the looks of the 308gtb but would never own a real one. so a mera was easy for me to see. my mera is on the back burner for the moment but i have done lots of work to it. L33 5.3HO aluminum ls v8, f23 fy1 cobalt trans, f430 19" wheels/michelin pilots, f430/f355 brembo 4 pots all around, afco billet adjustable coilovers, 13" subie crossdrilled rotors, ss braided brake hoses. but still sports the gm 87 fiero front and rear suspension arms with poly bushings, fiero moog balljoints, fiero moog inner and outer tierods and links. real f308's did not have serviceable balljoints or tierods, etc and would cost you in the neighborhood of 8500.00 for suspension replacements which is recomended at 40-60k miles. so again the mera makes sense on many levels. i have a better car than the real 308 for far less money. easy to maintain and easy to get parts for. i currently have less than 5grand in my car and parts. again, my mera isnt finished and wont be anytime soon, but who cares. build what you like and enjoy the process. half the fun is the build. lets all just get along.
post script; the reality of it all is that we all have fieros, whether stock, modded, kit car bodied, choptops, so on. these cars no matter what you do to them are only worth fiero prices, mine included. so why bicker over values or costs. you do what you want to them and always know that you will never get full return on your investment in a car. cars are poor investments. my .02 cents

Well, we're not talking about the Special Olympics were everybody is a winner, given a trophy, and a pat on the back-that I understand, but this is about grown men riding around in bad replicas and making every excuse for it.

I still say that even people who build bad replicas of Lambos etc. like to be different and get the attention. I mean with so many cars looking the same these days I think all of us get a thrill out of just driving even a stock Fiero because of the attention they get. And I would bet that most people who flock to a replica, even a bad one, to take pictures and look it over could care less if it`s real or not. It just looks cool. And I would also bet that people who build replicas, even bad ones, are not taking it to exotic shows trying to fool anyone. In the end if someone gets a chuckle out of seeing a bad replica with a Lamborghini badge what does it matter?

You sure seem to expect those pats on the back for the stuff you do (or rather, that you paid Archie or HRE or someone to do). But anyone else who does something not to your liking doesn't deserve any recognition for any hard work they may have done.
I'm sorry, but if you want to be a "grown man" then grow the hell up already and stop moaning about what other people do to their cars, whether it be making a replica, or not doing a choptop. We get it that you have a choptop and chrome fetish already. Doesn't mean every Fiero owner has to have one.

Yeah - I read that too and was like that's pretty low. But then I remembered what kind of person it's coming from. He's becoming a bigger A O all the time. Someone needs to "TWEAK" him.
And I know he probably is gonna say well I wrote "that I understand" but it just doesn't make it right

x 3 or 4 on curly's remarks about the mentally disabled. Really? That is how you want to represent yourself Madcurl?
Let us see now, you hate whites, rebodies, and the mentally handicapped. Is there anyone else that you would like to offend? Your red Fiero is beautiful, but your hate is so fracking ugly that it makes all around you rotten. Sad actually.

Madcurl, please substain from ten thousand pics of the same angle.
Yeah really what's up with the plastering of his rides pictures In SO many different threads with so many shots of the same piece/part/area. I mean enough is enough. I think he just needs to turn down the lights in his garage and have at it with one of his choppers, then snuggle for a bit and maybe then he will be content.
Edit: keep the lights on so you can see your ride because we know how much you like seeing it (everywhere).

You back? Wow, that was quick! As for your weak misquoting-nice try. Go to the thread for you'll find nothing-just the facts. The same you'll find there as you are finding here being discussed-the facts.

BUT I'm tired of feeling your negativity so instead I'm going to offer you Good luck in your pursuit of something that will make you happy, Someday you may realize possessions won't fill that hole.
Let me guess. You're going to trash this thread too, and then later head over the to the Choptop Chronicle, and #020, right? Dude, ferroitis and his buddy doomsberry did the same thing.
Since I'm referring to the "facts" let do a quick review;
2.8 engine and replica badges:
and finally
This is what the real F40 has in the back. Not a freaking Duke or 2.8 with a fake engine cover. LOL.
Moving up in price is the engine covers:
Moving up in price is this one:
If you have the money to purchase a V8 or 3800SC still the engine placement is incorrect. Is it any wonder "why" the Fiero is talked about in public. Instead of correcting the obvious flaws they try and glorify it. Some here are trying to call me a heretic for pointing these very facts, but pictures don't lie nor the replica history. They've cranked out more piss-poor replicas on the market than you can shake a stick at. LOL.

I have never seen someone work so hard, to gain so little. Posting up a tousand pics of ANYTHING gets annoying. Can you not see that? Are you that obtuse? You are like a Chihuahua trying to bang a Doberman. It is uncomfortable, and painful to watch.

Maybe if you didn't worship Ferrari and use your brain and come up with something "new" maybe you have more threads. Otherwise, what you did on was just badging and posting of your car. As for sleeping with my car, your insatiable lovefest with with ferrari goes well beyond anything posting or thread I've done.
Seriously, badges for the door jams, the hood, the rocker, the fenders, the bumper, the horn button, the seats, the dash, the shift knob, but over looking the body?

Okay, I'll post more facts. As I previously posted of the engines now lets look at the outside. The four Lamboghini replicas from various threads posted here. What do they all have in common? Econo kits. As DL10 has stated before, nobody here can afford the high end kits, so the replica builders cranked out the cheapest kits known to mankind. This in turn flushes the Fiero brand down the toilet. Seriously, it's better to modify a Fiero and call it a day.

Don't you have a set of $5000 wheels you need to go jerk off to?
Everyone knows your stance on replicas, gtfo already. Go whack a dirty cop with that ugly single wiper from your bastardized car, now that I'd like to see.

It is difficult to not see your hate Madcurl. While I apoligized for the thread that you are refering to, I am NOT apologizing for this one. I just wish that you would please see just how you are hurting so many here. If a member pulled up in a clapped out repro, I would not tell him/her. I would point out the points that I enjoy, then talk about them bad parts quietly within my circle. I would try my best to refrain from knocking a guy down just because of his tastes.
I will tell ya again, your cars are pretty damn cool, but it is your maniacal ways that you address other members here that makes them not worth a drop of pizz in my eyes. i just wish that you would hold back a bit. That is all. Do I see it happening? No. But we can all wish for Hope and Change can't we?

Im not sure i understand. so all replicas are poor build quality? have you seen a factory mera? they are as good if not better fit and finish than most production vehicles i have seen. all replica owners use cheap wheels? not hardly. all replicas use 2.8's? not hardly.

f430 19" wheels, not in pic but now installed is michelin pilot tires
L33 5.3HO aluminum ls v8 with flat top pistons, ls2 cam and springs, ls1 intake, 243 heads, stainless headers, msd coils, this pic is when i got the motor before mods.
Curly, please.... just stay out of kit threads and everyone else will stop throwing your crap back at you. Well, maybe. (I will but you'll have to quit being such a monumental douche canoe.)
You apparently have nothing positive to contribute, so why bother posting in these threads?
Like the Special Olympians who he obviously cares nothing about, these are the same super heroes that Madcurl mocks with the picture he posts day after day after day. That's the trouble with indiscriminately picking a photo and mocking the people in it for some immature thrill, the joke usually falls flat on it's ugly bigotted face.

Dude, if the thread's title is Lamborghini/Ferrrari replica followed by, LOL, WFT, or 2.8 in the back- that's a good indication the outcome isn't going to be good.
Originally posted by madcurl: Maybe if you didn't worship Ferrari and use your brain and come up with something "new" maybe you have more threads.
Maybe you should just stop making so damn many threads, and filling them with pictures of random pieces of other cars you want to glue onto your own cars. It's unnecessary.
And need you be reminded that your own car is a "kit" body. Just because you paid to have some modifications done, doesn't make it any less of a kit. Whether it's the widebody kit from Archie's shop, or a Ferrari or Lambo kit, it's still just a kit. You're free to your opinion, but keep more of it to yourself, because there are plenty of kits out there that are much better looking than your cars.
Stop being a damn post whore already. You post more pictures in a single post than one could find in a car magazine. It's ridiculous. Don't you have something better to do than search for pictures of cars and parts you don't like anyway? I guess not. Must be a pretty boring life.

In one word, no. You can go digging in the trash can thread, but I stated my feelings regarding the good and the bad kits since 01-13-2009 09:27 PM

Mera is nice, but not tweaked enough for my liking, plus I don't like the Ferrari badges on a car from the factory with MERA badges. I would go this route if I had one, but that too would most likely piss people off because it's chopped, widened and with 19/20 shoes.

A few, yes, but rarely found here. You'll need to go to the MadMechanic forum for higher end replicas.

Never said they did. Just the cheap kits being offered. Some have V8's while others have 3800SC, but even so you rarely if ever do you see the engine mounted longitudinally for they are found on the higher end kits which have nothing to do with a Fiero.

Yes, this single page contains the best of the econo kits have to offer. Maybe the pictures might help somebody-who knows. Oh yeah, my life is pretty exciting because I use my imagination and I have you and the legion of Doom following me around.
