Unreal I mean seriously how on earth does lloyde get away with all this? Why are people not taking him to court? I mean its sad enough to see a stock rusty old fiero with trees growing through it but someones pride and joy chop is just messed up.

Will,
Sorry to hear that you are having to resort to legal recourse. I went to Loyde's site and was surprised to see so many projects shown to be completed since your decision to try the LS4.
http://www.fastfieros.com/projects/index.htm
A convertible chop top???? Wouldn't that just entail laying the windshield back? If you want to go that route, LMK, I like your chop. Seems a convertible chop top would be simple. There was a convertible in MO/KS area but I think it would have to be braced up.
LMK if I can help you in any way.

Surely there are some good progress pix! Loyde said he would have it done by August. I know I work slow but my F355 is coming along. But I won't post progress pix because I don't want to hear crap about MY progress.
Will, wanna do a chop-top convertible Indy? got one just sitting here needing a new owner. It's driveable.

My LS4 swap is only going slow because I haven't gotten the engine/ecm yet, and I've got other things to take care of first. But at least my Fiero is still driveable.

Wow. I just read through this thread for the first time.

It is infuriating to see a good guy who has trust in someone get burned badly and left out in the cold for 4+ years. The pic of the weeds growing out of the rusted trunk compartment and engine bay had me wanting to put my foot through my screen, and I like my screen quite a lot.

Will, best of luck to you getting your car resolved

Speaking from experience, no news on a build thread is rarely good news. I'm thinking he's trying to find a way to either get his car, or get the work done. I do hope one or the other happens for his sake. Not having either is definitely the worst case scenario in my opinion.

From my dealings with loyde, every other sentence is "dont say anything on the internet about this".

Or "if you dont take down that stuff you said, I will send a nasty letter to your mom", or "if you dont remove what you said from me Cliff will ban you", or in this case "I wont build your car if you say anything on PFF".

It helps him rip people off by keeping them brainwashed into thinking they are somehow getting a good deal. Also keeps his "im on a comeback" type marketing plan in action.

When dealing with crooks, you ALWAYS play by their rules... If it was a stand up situation there would be updates posted by the builder.. (eg archie/bmwguru/me/mstangs)

Wow... I don't think it could be worded any better... This is so true that its actually painful to think about - you never get to deal with a crooked character on your own grounds. I do hope things work out, however, I'm not going to hold my breath.

(you know, DH, for all the crap that follows you around, you do have some moments of monumental brilliance. Well put, sir.)

Thanks for all the words of encouragement, I agree that any builder worth his weight would have the common courtesy to at least update his customers from time to time.

No word from Loyde or the lawyer. I told the lawyer I would leave it in his hands, that I was tired of messing with it. There is apparently a bunch of red tape and hoops we have to jump through to file a lawsuit, serve Loyde, place liens, coordinate the sheriff's/police department, etc. Anything over $10k can't be handled in small claims court in our county so I have to sue him in civil court which means me having to fork over a couple of grand to a lawyer on top of what I have already spent. Also there was some kind of ordeal that shut down the county clerk's office for a couple of weeks so that delayed all of this. Nothing will happen on June 10th like I was told, but in the first part of July I will most likely get my car back.

I will definitely keep everyone updated.

Good luck Will. This really sucks. I hope your car isn't a total loss from having sat outside so long with no care or cover. Any respectable shop should store a customer vehicle covered indoors, and nowhere near the grasslands of the sahara, as yours seems to unfortunately be.

Will, you need to let the lawyer know to inform the police that you would like to claim your property when they serve him other wise you may not be able to ever do it.
this is a bad deal, I hate to see this.

I had something similar happen to me a few years back on a previous attempt at a paid 3800 SC engine swap (BTW this was not Loyde). I had paid in advance, the guy had the car for at more than six months, covered his garage windows so that I could not see in, did not do the repairs he claimed in writing to have done, would not give the car back, etc. I managed to get the cops to pay him a visit and he was arrested, eventually convicted of fraud, ordered to pay restitution to get probation, I got 95% plus of my money back, and retrieved the vehicle with minimal damage.

It is possible to sometimes get some satisfaction out of a bad deal but there are no guarantees.

But you do have a good chance of getting back alot of the money you spent.

Might want to send some PFF links to your lawyer. Most of the loyde related stuff on here could make anyone look like a crook, but because of that I doubt it could ever be used as evidence.

He could use any responses Loyde put on here, especially ones that he lied in or tried to say something different than what actually happened (better go print them now), or any PM's he received from Loyde through here. Especially if he changes his story yet again, then it can be used as evidence of perjury. I would say this is definitely a reason for Loyde'd ban on this forum (which he has no respect for in his own words). I don't know what it's going to take, but at this point, someone could easily say he's a predator on this board and shouldn't be allowed access to it. Maybe a conviction could also be accompanied by a court order demanding he not advertise in any way for his services to protect future victims from harm? I would definitely have an attorney ask the judge for that stipulation. THAT'S where this forum could help for sure. Good luck Will. I hope MSTANGS is reading this, maybe he won't be so quick to defend the guy any more.

I am not forsure why you are bringing my name into this Thread or your post. But since you did...I have stated before that I do not agree with what has happened between FF and others BUT....I have also stated and I will again that every deal/transaction that I have done with Loyde has been positive in every way. He has helped me over the years with every thing I have asked him to and has answered every question that I have ever asked.

So...how is your swap going down in Houston with TexasGT? Haven't seen any updates on it in a while.......

It's moving again. They have the motor almost ready to go in. We're looking into the Northstar TB stuff right now, along with the axles. I'm hoping it will be back in my garage by the end of the month *fingers crossed*.

It's only slander if it's spoken and not true. The written version is libel and again only if it's not true. Why don't you go either finish his car or start writing out that refund check for what he paid you and the original value of the car when he dropped it off, and quit worrying about what's being written about you on the internet?

What a tool bag

How about a nice summary for those that where not reading the whole thread

This is where lloyd tried to say it hasn't been five years by posting a picture from *ONLY* 3 years ago of will's original engine. Followed by Will's picture of the check written to lloyd from *ALMOST* 5 years ago.

lloyd, maybe you should take any and all time that you would be on the forum and put and engine into Will's car. Then, when that's done, put new brake lines, shocks, struts, springs, calipers, brake hoses, tie rods, ball joints, wheel bearings, tires, floor pans, trunk, paint, interior pieces that are surely warped from the texas heat and anything else I did not think of, on the car, so that when he gets it back it will be in the shape that it should have been had you actually finished it in a timely manner.

But then again Will *might* want to have the car *efore* he dies of old age, so maybe you should just refund the money's and give the man his car so he can take it to a reputable dealer.

Haven't been on the forum for a bit but wanted to see how this has played out. Will, you can sue for LESS than what you paid to go to small claims court and save the attorney fees.
As I've stated before, my dealings with Loyde have been good.
But I would NEVER give ANYONE the full amount up front. ESPECIALLY a "company". There is little to no incentive to complete it on a timely basis. If you cover part of the actual outlay for parts with most of it held back until completed, they have to EARN that final paycheck.
Well back to my hole until I get MY PERSONAL PROBLEMS IRONED OUT. BUT you can bet your sweet butt that I'm NOT taking any money knowing that I can't deliver.

Both. There are usually costs associated with the case, and then you pay the lawyer hourly for certain things. The idea though is that when suing someone, you sue for losses plus costs, as you're now incurring more loss having to take the person to court. You'll have to pay court costs, lawyer's fees, and may end up having to go to court with unpaid leave from work. And depending on what you do for a living, a day or week of unpaid leave can be a big hit.

Sue for amount paid, interest, depretiation of the car, lawyer fees + court fees, and emotional damages.

He stole your car for 5 years, kept it captive, and tortured it.. End of story.

I'm thinking Will has hit some delays for getting things resolved. Let me know if I can help Will, I know some avenues you may not have tried yet.
