Heh, me too, Orange's brakes are less than stellar (worse than any other Fiero I've seen) which always makes me a little nervous at high speeds. It was pretty late at night but the only other car we encountered was a Sebring and they were driving up off the road, across the sand banks (which we also did, Fiero dune buggying) The whole time we were down there we talked about how great of a place for a Ruckus it was. Lots to do and see, lots of roads for playing around, lots of photo ops, good food... what more could we ask for?
I don't mean to interrupt the Round-Up talk for Ruckus talk, I'm just trying to hide my disappointment that I can't be there with yall this weekend
Hey guys, guess you all will have to do without my presence at this Round Up, too! I've made the reservations, paid my money and now events for this weekend are preventing me from attending. Everything was clear for the May date and I thought June would work out - it didn't.
Rob - cash the check I sent and I still would like the shirts and I know you have ordered them at this late date - so, if you can, send my t-shirts via Stephen Poe (assuming he makes it).
If I make it, it will be a quik in and out for a short visit. They are still cutting timber on my property and I have to be there to keep track of the tonnage going out--they'll rob me blind if I do not.
Am also considering running up to DFW to check on Jazzman. Anyone finds out which medical facility he is going to be having the procedure in--please PM me the info.

I will be there in SlowRoll. Will be rolling in with BIG Revin and The Pimp with the Limp Blake. The list is getting shorter but that just means less cars to loose during the cruise.

I was getting nervous that I might be the only one there...but big Revin, and the Pimp with the limp, that's worth a trip. Maybe no chop top? Having difficulty with the smog police.

You need to find that SMOG shop that speaks s-panol and there is nothing to worry about. What is the car felling? Have you put some miles on it since you got it back and then changed the oil. You need to put a few hundred miles on the car and then do a oil change on it. The car has been sitting for sometime and I am sure nothing is working 100% yet. Dont worry about the inspection and bring it anyways. I am sure you can talk your way out of a ticket if everything else is good on the car.

Passed the safety inspection...it's running too rich. Could be a leaking injector? A ring not seating properly? I'm sure sitting for 4 years doesn't make an engine run at 100%.

If the car hasnt been driven that much them the ECM hasnt had a chance to learn the fuel curve yet. The car really needs to be driven on a nice long trip so it can learn, get all the componets moving and things working back right. Need to check for vacum leaks, exhaust leaks and of course the 02 sensor. Running rich could be just a simple bad O2 sensor, which can go bad from just sitting.

Yeah, Blake can tell you how to manage that one, he had an 'incident' with the deputy on the river road a few years ago. "Might" be able to come up with a pic his buddy Revin took.........
Well chalk up another 1st place for my car! ( pontiac southern nationals) The last car show I will show the gray ghost at ever<<?? I have had enough! sunburn that is... oh and trophies as well go out with a "big win at the Nationals"
For a "nationals" show...not so much. You would think at a "nationals" show, there would be very old pontiacs to the new G8's oh noooooo This was a show for mainly GTO's THEN Trans Ams, and firebirds!!! not one tempest, bonneville, or any old cars!!! The 1st year of GTO's and such were the oldest there. sure there were some very nice stock rides and some nice customs, BUT nothing outstanding to me.... Where the heck were all the Fieros????? I was visited by a couple of the S.A. members but they did not bring a Fiero!! glad to see a friendly face though EVERYONE loved what I have done to the car! Even gave a ride to the dealer that let me test drivethe G8. He was speechless. well he did say GD quite a bit! when he went back in the seat on a hard takeoff.hee hee I guess he told everyone and they all came around to see what was so cool.
The bad...for the $25...no shirt, no door prizes( even had 2 tickets) but no # called<<WFT? oh and the sunburn.....
ok bump of the day...see a bump all week....
Come on ya'll try to make this show !!!!!! I have a feeling it may be the last Ruckus?!?! haveing my doughts on that as well... so SHOW UP!!!

Did you mean ROUNDUP?!? I hope both events are alive and well. I have heard many say they are passing on the Roundup but will attend the Ruckus. I should have a couple of spare Fieros for the Ruckus if someone needs to drive down in their daily driver.
Round-Up 11 is on. The AAFO will attempt to move future Round-Ups to an earlier date. Things happened and that is that. We will miss the ones who can not attend. We will still have a good time. We hope to see you there. The AAFO truly appreciates your efforts in getting here. At lease margaritas have not gone up per gallon!

Well the car is back together and looking pretty good(engine wise) and took its first long run to work today. Running back strong and looking good for the SA show. Going to do a few more things to it and it will be ready for the long trip.

That's good news. My chop top is running strong...but I'm afraid it has a few too many loose ends to make the trip this weekend, like a fully charged a/c, working mirrors, and a front end alignment to name a few. I need a solid two to three weeks to get it road trip worthy, then a couple of weeks of shakedown cruises. Look for it at the 25th.

I guess I won't see you Friday night. I'm planning on leaving around 4 pm Friday... Should be out of the Houston city limits by 6pm... roll-in about 9 pm
I plan to be at the Taco Cabana and will see about the thing at McCombs Pontiac. Just got back from CA and the car I brought needs a new front wheel bearing. Not sure I'll have time to get it in before tomorrow. But I do want the T-shirts (2 shirts, XL both.) Will pay tonite.
I missed everyone at the meet and greet. It took 3 hours to get out of Houston versus the anticipated 2. Still well short of the record which is 26 hours set in Sept 2005.
We'll see everyone Tomorrow.

We left the Roundup a little earlier than the rest of the group, after seeing over a dozen beautiful Fieros (and many more still in the works!). But not before buying a set of outer dew wipes from someone--I think his name was Stuart but not sure. Anyway, not only did he SELL them...he sweated in the hot sun for over an hour and INSTALLED THEM on the yellow Cali-Fiero!
It was a learnng experience for my wife and me as we (among others) watched this "Wizard of the Wrench" R&R those little buggers! He made it look very easy, even tho I know he was sweating like a race horse. This guy knows SOOO much about Fieros. "What about this....what about that...." "No prob...just do this....and that."
I think he brought 10 sets of dew wipes and I hope he sold them all. He certainly deserved to.
I wish I could remember the names of all the people we met but do remember 3 cars in particular that impressed me. One, a 3800 SC with Firebird seats--this car was painted a green/gray Harley Davidson color. It had the regular pop-up headlights replaced with teeeeny weeeeny headlights in the hood and more lights mounted in an add-on part under the front bumper. How he kept from dragging every driveway he encounters is beyond me, but he says he doesn't. The front "trunk" was upholstered with carpet, the spare tire was covered and in the "grille" opening was a replica of a red light going from side to side, like KITT from "Knight Rider". Unbelievable car!
There was a medium red metallic GT with Mr. Mike leathers and an engine so clean I'm surprised the owner would ever drive it. Beautiful car.
And of course, JScott's "movie" car with the Firebird dash and the giant bass speaker mounted where the center console glove box goes. Another set of Mr. Mikes. Looked better "in person" than in the movie.
All in all, we stocked up on T-shirts from previous Roundups and spent a very enjoyable 5 hours Fiero-ing with some of the nicest people on the planet.
See ya next year, guys!
John
