I wonder if there is anything we can do, maybe a Pennocks fundraiser? Donate Fieros to people who lost theirs, so they have something to drive?

My wife and I are donating to the Red Cross Katrina relief fund but I wish to also reach out personally to our community. They will need help for time to come. We need a first hand account on the fate off all in the path of Katrina. I would like to hear from or of every affected member. Anyone with the time and orginzational skills that will volunteer to start a help/accounting for thread will get a plus from me.
Exotica Ride, glad you are ok and I am sorry about your Fiero. I wish to help and would like to help all and will do what I can. I want my help to go where it is most needed. In 98, Medina Lake flooded (100 year flood )and most my neighbors lost everything. In 99, my place burnt down and I lost everything. In 02, the 500 year flood really devastated Medina lake. I have experience in this sort of thing. I know what FEMA and the Red Cross did for my community. You will not need clothing or lodging. You will get vouchers for enough to get you by. Plain and simple, you guys need cash money. There will be low interest loans for certain things but it is for the most basic necessities. I have not heard in the news any mention off all the jobs that are essentially lost. A lot of people will not be getting a pay check. Having been through a disaster or two, I urge you to keep your head up and think positive....keep a good attitude. Attitudes are infectious.

I have an 84 SE and an 86 coupe I would not let go to the crusher. I am just keeping them for parts and they are mostly complete. They are available, parts or whole, to anyone affected needing them, for free. I also have a running 86 GT in decent shape but I will need to get my money back for it. $1400.00 to those affected only.
thanks for all of you support, i just wanted to let you all know that i am o.k.!!!

Here's an idea: Maybe someone should email or PM Cliff and see if we as a whole group can set up a fund via Pay Pal or other wise and start slowly adding money to it that we can then donate to Fiero Owners in need. Now granted this will take quite some effort but I think as a community we can pull it off. We could also have a parts drive for the owners affected by the storm that also lost their vehicles. I am sure there are lots of us that have loads of parts just sitting around in our garages that we could donate. Of course the latter part of the donation program would have to take place after we get the essentials to all the affected parties.
What do you guys think?
Again I am very sorry for the horror that you and your families have had to endure and I hope the we as a community can help in any way we can.

Being that this is a fiero forum, I like this idea. After the basic necessities are taken care of many of these people lost not only their beloved Fiero, but the only means of transportation they had. I have enough parts to make a complete Fiero, (some assembly required ) if someone were to organize a parts drive we could help replace what was lost.

In theory it is a great, idea, however many people that could use the parts, no longer have a home or shop or tools to do the repair and are living with friends and relatives or shelters.

I have no Fiero parts to donate, save for an airbox assembly, but I'd be up for it if I did!

Alot of us at our job is being transported to the recovery area as of right now louisiana is lost .... Im praying that all the members on this forum makes it out of this.
If anyone gets ahold of any of the ppl mentioned in this post.... Please pm me it would make me feel alot better if I knew they were ok. So far it doesn't look good for anyone that stored in the attic of any house.
There has been a number of ppl rescued out of attics before sufficating.... I don't know how everyone else feels but everytime I see a bunch of innocent ppl die... It makes me sad emotionally..... I would give my own life to save all that has been killed from this.
As of right now I will slit my wrist to beable to go and help out. At first I didn't think it was this bad before I heard talk from ppl and ect.... When I saw the news I had to turn it off.

As far as the money donations go, I think we could simply set up a Pay Pal fund and simply make it available to all of the members on the forum to donate too, then we could simply right a check to the Red Cross or to specific parties if need be. I am not sure who we could put in charge of this, maybe Cliff could set something up with a banner and a link to get into the fund and simply post it up on the forum so all who would wnat to donate could.
As far as the parts go, I guess we should wait a while and see what happens with the affected areas. As far as locations for parts as well as the storage and the shipping of the parts will also have to be addressed as well.
I just Express mailed Exotica Rida some money to hold him over. There should be enough there for new underwear, socks, a few shirts and some jeans. I'm hoping anyway! I got home too late for him to get it tomorrow but it will be there on Saturday.
Just a suggestion here. If you are going to send money to anyone, send them money orders, whether it be postal, or otherwise. Since they will be displaced they might not have access to THEIR bank and therefore won't be able to cash a check! With a money order, they can take it to the bank and get the money right away. If it's a postal money order, they can cash it right there at the Post Office.

Hey Man,
I guess you know about the Georgia Fiero Club!
Please send me an e-mail at rjotero@hotmail.com telling me what is your line of work and let's see what I can do. Also, our club meeting is the second Saturday of the month. The address you posted tells me that you are less than 3 miles from our meeting place! Maybe you can walk to the American Pie and join us. Check the Club page www.gafiero.org for the address.
Good Luck!
Correction: It's not 3 miles... is actually 5 miles (door-to-door) ...my bad ;-)

That's what I did was send a postal money order. I asked the clerk at the Post Office if he would be able to cash it at a Post Office where he is, given his situation. Thanks for posting this, Dar.

That ran through my head as soon as I saw that. I am glad that you are ok and getting along somewhat. I hope that with the help from your friends, and from the looks of it you have great ones, that you will be able to move on. Its kinda depressing to think about the fact that there probably wont be a New Orleans as we knew it after all of this, not even close actually.

I have a TON of new (older styles) sneakers....sizes 10 & 10.5. I would be more than happy to ship them out to anyone down there who needs something on their feet. I wish I had more to offer, but I don't.
You might as well get this process started. The sooner you start, the sooner you can get some assistance.
"William Lokey, FEMA Coordinator of the federal relief effort, encouraged those who sustained losses in the designated counties to begin the disaster application process by registering online at http://www.fema.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will be available 24 hours seven days a week until further notice."
"Registering on-line is encouraged due to the possibility of high call volume. If registering by phone, owners of commercial properties and residents with only minor losses are urged to wait a few days before calling so those whose homes were destroyed or heavily damaged can be served first. Storm victims with insurance coverage should contact their insurance company or agent before calling to report losses and, if necessary, to request an advance or partial payment of their settlement."
i cant express, how i feel a few days ago i felt like there was no tomorrow but now i have some relif, knowing that you all care so much, i just speechless.......
but here are my sizes to anyone thats willing
shoe 10 pants 32x32 shirt medium
ANYTHING is appreciated...............
and cliff! an A+(positive rating) wont justify how i feel about everyone who has helped(or offered to help for that matter) ......

Exotic - I will see what we have here clothes wise and send some stuff out. Aside from clothes/money do you need anything else? Food? etc. Also keep us posted in the above thread if you hear from anyone else. Let our other members devastated by this hurricane know that we are here to help.

Too bad you are a 32x32......I have a bunch of 30x32 Levi's and old school Dockers. At any rate.....I will mail out a couple of pairs of sneakers to the address you provided earlier in this thread. I'll get them out tomorrow via Priority Mail, so you should see them early next week.
I'll see what shirts I have......I have literally boxes of shoes, pants and shirts (all brand new) that I can't wear (shoes are too big and pants are too small). I'll throw in a few shirts and some pants, just in case (if you can't squeeze into them then pass them along to someone who can).
Good to talk to this morning Anthony I've already got some small stuff together shirts and socks I'll get them boxed and get them shipped to you. The guys at my work are chipping in for you and I hope to get a large box together overnighted Tuesday. Hang in there and things will come together for you
