Your engine sounds weird (whistling noise) for an 88 V6 seams like a blown header gasket ........
yea it has some problems im hoping to figure out and fix soon. it has an exhaust leak where the header that's next to the firewall meets the crossover pipe but that's the only leak i know of right now. im hoping its something simple causing it to sound kind of like a tractor but it has a miss at idle too and ive checked all the injectors and spark plugs and found no problems and i replaced the icm and there was no difference.
Replaced the clutch slave cylinder from Rodney Dickman and bled the clutch line. Took forever to get all the air out! I guess I was pumping the clutch pedal faster than I thought. VERY slow is best! I put the one-man bleeder container up so I could see it in the rearview mirror and kept pushing air bubbles out, refilling the reservoir, and periodically pulling the piston inward to get additional air pockets out. Done but not my favorite task.
got the front exhaust manifold off and cleaned it up then picked up some new spark plug wires and ordered gaskets for the exhaust manifold. tomorrow im hoping to get it all back together or atleast mostly back together and hopefully it runs good.
Yea i really wanna paint them but thats a project for another time. I might paint the plenum while its in the garage but the valve covers ill do another time as right now im just begging for it to finally run how it should.
drove car yesterday and the cruse control did not work but today i learned the dam thing has an on and off switch on the blinker arm. i just took advantage of pushing the button and it went on. i guess i hit the switch. you learn something every day.
got extremely pissed off at it. first it decided it didnt want to go into reverse anymore then while i was driving down the highway slowing down in traffic a clip in the shifter decided it wanted to pop off making me lose 1st and second gear. luckily i was pretty close to a napa so i had to ride the clutch in 3rd gear to get to napa and they let me use some tools to get the clip back in. needless to say i was very unhappy and im putting it away for a while before i feel like driving it again.
Searched the Web for some decent D/S rotors and ceramic pads for my XTC! I really need to bite the bullet and just order the parts!
Also gathered some screws for the "Joel Project" - I'll have to go to the mega pull tomorrow and get some off a car. I did not have as many as I thought I did! I needed an excuse to go scrounge for parts anyway.
