I have been talking and asking about a brake upgrade for the 88 for sometime now besides WCF's set. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/022470.html I have just meet a local guy near me that runs a machine shop from his home and he understands that we are looking to build our own set at a good price. Rich the owner is a car guy and has built several toys so is willing to help keep the price down.
So I am asking who here is looking to upgrade there brakes and before you post "if you can keep the price cheap enough", the more we get the lower the price will be?!?!?!?
The inner ring needs to be done on a CNC machine is something so small is not so easy to have made, I am looking at having them done for under or around $15 to $20 a ring (4 rings needed per car) the set up fee for the CNC machine was $60, half of everyone else I talked to, and 1/3 of the price of the first guy I talked with.
The bracket is a thick piece that needs to be dead on, again not so easy to do plus have a thick steal drilled and threaded. We are looking for a $120 set up fee and $25 to $45 a piece, (again 4 needed per car, 2 for the rightside and two opposite for the leftside)
The rotors are going to be $35.98 each at my cost, and these are not the cheap replacement rotors. The list price is $78.99 each! He will set up a cool drill press he has that will drill all 5 bolt holes the same everytime for the needed amount of rotors, again depending on how many join us?
I will be taking everyones info. at thespeedshop@sbcglobal.net my name is Bobby and non like the Spec clutch set up I got done I will be taking care of all orders, via Paypal, money orders, and cash. I am hoping to have things started within the first of the year, he is really busy right now and it will help us keep our cost down it we do it in his off season "slow time of the year".
Any questions e-mail me or post it here.

So you're basically just ripping off the WCF configuration, rather than coming up with anything new?
Spiff... don't forget that Bobby needs to make a profit from this...
------------------ Turn the key and feel the engine shake the whole car with its lope; Plant the gas pedal and feel in your chest neither a shriek nor a wail but a bellowing roar; Lift and be pushed into the harness by compression braking that only comes from the biggest cylinders while listening to music of pops and gurgles. Know that you are driving an American V8. There are finer engines made, but none of them are this cool.
Luck, Fate and Destiny are words used by those who lack the courage to define their own future
It not really going to be the same as WCF's brake upgrade I am tring to make them so a 15" wheel will fit and at the least a 16" wheel. Again all prices will be set by how many are made or how many are ordered, and the cost of the material at the time of when we have them done, The set up fee will be fronted by me and then divided among everyones so I don't have to eat a high set up cost by myself. I am also looking to upgrade the size and strength compaired to WCF's cap. brackets.
Just as the Spec flywheel I am doing this because I want it done for me, and I am looking to help the price. The more that is made the cheaper they are to have made which will again keep the price lower for everyone wanting one. So I guess you can say I am just wanting to help everyone and myself?
Also again the prices are what I am shotting for and I don't see them being to far out of line, so please don't take those prices as if the are written in stone it is my goal.
Also the question was asked: the only way I can cover myself is I install the parts myself. I am working on have the parts covered but the only way I can give a warranty is if I install them. If I had sold a kit and someone installed them wrong I am NOT covering that! If you want a warranty of any type I will install them.

So far I think we are looking at 14 guys wanting in on these? Two guys want just the rear set so they add up to 1 full set, which makes a total of 15, and at least one guy is wanting more than one set for himself. And that is just on this forum.

When I did the set up at Spec clutches I had a few e-mails every so often asking me what was going on? I am asking for everyone wanting a brake upgrade package to e-mail me with the title of "PFF brakes"!
Please answer as much as this as you wish so I can keep intouch with you guys on any changes or questions that may come up, again this is for my record only and will not be shared with anyone I promise.
I first need to know what forum you belong to?
You are looking for the complete brake upgrade kit right? Name: Address: City: State: zip: phone number: e-mail address: forum member name: Way of payment: (Paypal, cash, money order, and check, all parts will be held until the check clears)

The long awaited price is now ready: $195.00 for caliper support bracket and inner hub ring $200.00 for redrilled 12" standard rotors with 5 X 100mm bolt pattern $380.00 for complete package (standard rotors): (#4 12" rotors with redrilled 5 X 100mm bolt pattern,#2 left and #2 right) (#4 alum. inner hub rings that will support the rotor on the 88 Fiero hub) (#4 caliper support brackets, #2 left sides and #2 right sides) Or $440.00 for complete package (cross drilled rotors): (#4 12" rotors with redrilled 5 X 100mm bolt pattern,#2 left and #2 right) (#4 alum. inner hub rings that will support the rotor on the 88 Fiero hub) (#4 caliper support brackets, #2 left sides and #2 right sides) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- West Coast Fiero's prices $305.00 for there front only set,"1/2 a set" (US stock replacement rotors) $255.00 for there front only set,"1/2 a set" (Imported replacement rotors) $595.00 for there complete upgrade set (US stock replacement rotors) $495.00 for there complete upgrade set (Imported replacement rotors) $216.60 for there mounting kit (support brackets and inner hub ring) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EBAY COST: $425.00 for a complete set (Standard rotors): (#4 12" rotors with redrilled 5 X 100mm bolt pattern,#2 left and #2 right) (#4 alum. inner hub rings that will support the rotor on the 88 Fiero hub) (#4 caliper support brackets, #2 left sides and #2 right sides) Or $490.00 for a complete set (Cross-drilled rotors): (#4 12" cross-drilled rotors with redrilled 5 X 100mm bolt pattern,#2 left and #2 right) (#4 alum. inner hub rings that will support the rotor on the 88 Fiero hub) (#4 caliper support brackets, #2 left sides and #2 right sides) I am not going to be selling these on Ebay until all forum orders are filled and completed! I am still getting things worked out with the several company that I am looking at to supply the rotors, so they should be up for sale soon. I am going to have parts being made when I get some more orders in, they will be made and shipped within 3 to 4 weeks of the start date. Anybody wanting to place an order, I will need half of the full payment up front, or you can make a full payment if you wish to do so. "The only reason I will need half down is I am buying all 100 rotors up front and paying for the shipping costs, and the # 3 set up costs (bracket set up, ring set up, rotor set up) are also needed up front.
As you can see above I am able to beat WCF's prices and we have made the brackets stronger with adding extra bolt threads and stronger steel. All parts are going to be cut very clean by laser and a sand-water cutter so te brackets will not be heated or worped!!!
And I am sorry to say I don't know yet if they will fit under a 15" wheel, I know they will not fit as they are, they may fit with some mods. and grinding to your caliper.
Again any questions feel free to post here or e-mail me thespeedshop@sbcglobal.net Thanks again Bobby
I did edit on 12-04-04, the cost of cross drilled rotors ended up being more then I was looking into.

I made my own brake conversion too. I sent my rotors out to a local machine shop to redrill the rotors from a 4 ½ bolt pattern to a 4 ¼ Fiero pattern. The machine shop also made the needed centering rings. The centering ring is tapered on the back which matches the taper on the Corvette rotor. They only charged me $90 for the 4 adapter brackets, adapter rings and redrilling the rotors. They tapped the adapter brackets so I did not need the welded nuts on the back. I do add a nut on each bolt to lock the bolt safely.

Skitime, I have been talk about wanting to do this for sometime now, I have been to 9 places "well not true 2 were over the phone and e-mail" but still 9 places. I have been asking for help since the start, I asked rockcrawl to add more info. after he said something before but never said anything else. Now after I have things going you throw this lower price out without the offer to help anybody else out, so why say anything at all?????? I am doing this to help out everyone that wants this upgrade and to "yes" help myself with a better product and lower price.
So why do that?

Toddster I have only one thing holding us back and thats cash, I will have enough money to get the ball rolling even faster when I have 1/2 the orders in with them paying 1/2 of there order. Only because I am looking at spending about $4000.00 on just rotors plus I will need to pay the set up fee at the machine shop for him to start. I will keep you all up to date as much as I can, I have been trying to get online about every other hour to stay on top of the orders coming in and any questions you guys send. So far we are looking really good, I posted the prices yesterday and we had about 4 to 5 guyd right away send there 1/2 in to me. I think that is a great sign for us. Thanks to everyone for there support!

Very true Phil, I think we are going to be able to get a great deal on our rotors, so far I have only had people asking about the cross drilled rotors so I am not even sure if I will need to get a standard 12" rotor, we'll see I guess?!?!?!

Sorry, I did not mean to upset things. I figured if I only talked about this setup people would be asking to see it. I was just giving another perspective on things. Your price on rotors was much better than mine although I did not see your rotors yet. I paid $75 each for them and an additional $60 on the shipping. I am not trying to take business from you and am not offering to do the kit for others. (Too afraid of libility) So more power to you and I support your effort.

I have also talked to 4 guys that are waiting until payday this week. Just wanted to give you guys an update so we all know where we all stand, so far we are looking good. I was scared that we had 18 guys wanting them and then when it came down to doing it they backed out, but now I have to say we are going to hit the ground running! Again if anyone has any questions e-mail me or if you want e-mail me and we can talk it out over the phone. I will be going out of town tomorrow but will be back on Friday, going down to visit my girlfriends parents for Thanksgiving, yes I will be close to hell! But I should be back.....more parent jokes could follow but if any of you here tell her at the next show I will get in trouble. hahahahahaha

Again, anyone making payments. I perfer Paypal, infact I just ungraded my account there. Money orders and cash are ok. If someone has to send a check please e-mail me first so we can talk!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I hate to say it but yes, I am making up an order for everyone that wants in and just a few extra. The extras are getting made so I can sell them on Ebay to make some money on this to kind of pay for my time getting this together.

Hey, I'll be Paypal'ing you tomorrow! Two questions: are the rotors zinc coated or something similar to keep them looking nice, and have you found pads for a group buy yet?l

I maybe getting the high performance pads from the same place as the rotors. I am waiting for an answer from a few people, I have been told if they are zinc or have any coating applied to them before they are redrilled the coating is not going to hold up. This is something I am not sure about that so again I am looking into that.
