It could be one of my favorites, too.

Anybody my age remember Bloodrock? I played this vinyl album a lot.
I received that album as a birthday present when I was like 15. That song (DOA) always had a huge "creep out" factor. We always heard that they couldn't play it on the radio because the sirens might distract someone who was driving.
Used to have a red guitar Til I smashed it one drunk night Smashed it in the classic form As Peter Townshend might Threw it in the fireplace Left it there a while Kate she started crying when she saw my sorry smile
Red guitar was made of wood It could not take the heat Red guitar it caught on fire And the damage was complete It burned until all that was left Were six pegs and six strings Kate she says, You are a fool, You've done a foolish thing.
I placed the remains in the case and I put the case away Went to New York City for a new guitar the next day I bought myself a blonde guitar I had it for three days Some junkie stole my blonde guitar God works in wondrous ways.
I had the great pleasure of hanging out with these guys in the Scion Acoustic Den at 102.9 after they played an acoustic set... cool guys, good music (I actually think their newest single was better with a pair of acoustic guitars instead of the electric but I still think I'll go next time they're in town). The style isn't for everyone but it's pretty standard fare for modern rock music... I like 'em.
Example:
White Rabbit (newest single)
You make me sick (previous single - I thought it was the best song they played at the acoustic gig)

Interesting. The style? They sound kind of angry. Is all their stuff like that? (OTOH, I suppose it's difficult to play hard rock and not sound angry.)
Yeah... most of my musical selections are fairly polarizing anyhow.
Cage the Elephant vs. AC/DC? The former wins for me. A lot of unknown artists or unpopular albums show up in my music library. Very eclectic taste breeds strange preferences.
I thought I was the only one deranged enough to listen to Leonard Cohen.
Nope. You are not alone.
FWIW, have you ever seen the movie "McCabe & Mrs. Miller?" (It's one of my all-time favorites.) Most of the soundtrack was taken directly from the "Songs of Leonard Cohen" album. Weirdly appropriate, like the Simon & Garfunkle soundtrack for "The Graduate."

Of the few truly great harp players, Little Walter, more than any other, was able to reach deep inside and call up something primal. Not unlike a great violinist, the instrument in his control, became sentient.
It's funny you guys keep bumping this thread... every day this month, I'm posting a different song by a non-top-40 artist (mostly) to my Facebook. No real responses, though.

I think it is a great thread. I hope it lives forever. It is good to be exposed to new music.
And that very reason is why I can't seem to get a job at any of the local radio stations... I don't listen to the same crap. The local "active rock" station in this city is stuck in the 90s - all Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc... songs most people here were sick of 15 years ago.
Since it has become "Dinosaur Jr Week" for me, allow me to introduce you to the REAL voice of generation X (imho, anyhow).. J Mascis and "Dinosaur Jr." Also known as "Slacker Rock".. I'm hip to that... Gen X gets a rap for being slackers, but at least we don't need to be coddled and given "Work Life Balance" or whatever it is and told "Good Job" because I did what i am supposed to do..Life sucks sometimes, sorry mom and dad sold you on being special and being praised
Give me a break Millenials.. you milk toothed genY babies, grow some balls and finally define your musical genre and not just the pop crap you have been eating like candy. REBEL! You stand on the shoulders of musical giants and all you have is "baby baby baby ohh" ? Horseshit! This is because you were never spanked and can't appreciate pain.. no pain, NO ART! (Rant ended.)
Anyhow, J has got everything you need.. buzzy rhythm, screaming flange leads, doses of heavy metal with a twist of skater punk. Whiney voice on J says it all for Gen X. And technically, his leads are REALLY GOOD. I hope you enjoy.. some new, and some old..
More Hot Tuna

Black Country Communion Self professed "70s Hard Rock Band" (have a very strong blues influence) UK (Black COuntry area) / US Awesome new Hard Rock - need more bands like this
My brother and I got the chance to see this group when we went to a concert in Chicago. We had never heard of them before the show and we were completely blown away by the performance. We even talked with the lead vocalist for a few minutes and had an album signed by him. I hope to see them again in the future.
*Yes, their drummer is a chick.

I didn't have the American Band album, so I wasn't even aware of this song, "Creepin", until recently. The stations never play it. Which is why I never heard it, I guess, lol. But it's got a great sound.
I DID have this album, but this song is another that never gets played on the air...
