well, idk how people here will like it, but here goes lol
# Band name: Krizz Kaliko # Genre: "Funkra" # Base of operations/home: KCMO i think # What you think: one of my faves (Tech N9ne is my all-time favorite tho :P. but i figured yall would appreciate Krizz more). rap is my favorite, but i also enjoy great vocals (ie singing) and he is awesome at both. he grew up listening to gospel and opera and the like, so he likes taking from those genres and adding it into his own work # Example of their work: Misunderstood
and one of my fave songs right now, Beautiful You Are
Band name: Lo-Pro Genre: Hard Rock Base of operations/home: Los Angeles, California What you think: Just an amazing band, been following them for a long time.

Got a thing for the Euro rock/metal chicks eh? well, here's another for ya.......
Band name; The Gathering Gentre; Melodic, Gothic, Rock Base of operations; Belgium What you think; Female vocalist Anneke Van Giersbergen's voice is magical and was one of the founding female Goth singers for many others to follow later. I think this video was from the late 90's.

I really liked this bands first CD when it came out. "Thread" and "Sunday" were a couple of my favorite tunes from that. The drummer was orignally the drummer for Godsmack and the first CD rocked hard. This song "texas" sounds a little more "pop" than their previous stuff. Still I might just check it out.

It's good, but not quite my cup-'o-tea. For some reason I'm hooked on the full symphonic style of back-up instrumentals and the hard core Gothic Opera, Anneke's vocals seem too pop trying to be goth. But that's just me, and I am a bit picky on my female vocalists of choice. I will look up some more of their music to see if I can find some that's of a better quality. She has promise to make it to my list of favorite female vocalists.
the song that comes to mind every time i get into my fiero is on u-tube, orianthi/highly strung with steve vai. rocking song and the hotest femal guitar flayer i have ever seen.she was michael jackson's guitar player. i am an old rohade and still love music.

I love everything Lo-Pro produces, They have a EP out now called "Letting Go" which has a couple great songs including "Texas" on it. They are now working on a new CD, I can't wait!

Craig is great. Also check out "Cinematic Sunrise " and "The Sound of Animals Fighting", if you like him. Also, they're from Davison, MI if anybody is really interested.
I'd have to say 2 options Les Claypool / Primus Experimental / Progressive Bay Area, CA Technically incredible, not a huge fan of the vocals most of the time, but instrumentally great
Ween Ween Super experimental sometimes, other times they set out to sound like another band; example, their song gabrielle was meant to sound like Thin Lizzy, and totally does. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFbTbSsb6f0 Example of their work
[*] Sigur Ros [*] Icelandic post-rock band with melodic, classical, and minimalist elements. [*] ReykjavÃk, Iceland [*] Very amazing.....very spritiual and ambient. I am going to post their best song, and IMO the greatest composed piece of music!
I dig this grunge band. Not sure if they are still together. I discovered them a while back on mtv
"Scrape" is probably their most popular track. Great video to watch. Just mute it if you dont like the track lol
And for those of you who like electronica. Here is my favorite song of the year in the best genre of them all. Trance. Sorry but techno/rave is just awful. I truly believe you have to be high to enjoy that stuff

I always found Primus amusing but never really listened before. That is really good. It kind of reminds me of Tim Bogert (Vanilla Fudge, Cactus) and Frank Zappa. Thanks for posting it! I will have to do some more listening.
A project put together by ex - Galactic Cowboys bassis Monty Colvin. He wrote, produced, and plays all the instruments (except drums) on all of the Crunchy CD's. But he does have a band of fellow Kansas City MO. musicians that join him for live shows. Monty has a great sense of POP melodies and song arrangment and is one of my favorite musicians/performers. Check him out and if you like it you can buy his CD's directly from Monty himself at http://montycolvin.net/

Fellas, If you talk about music, it must be considered to have an the impact over time. One hit wonders, those who have zero influence, outside the very few listeners who have posted here, will not be here in another week, much less a year. Consider the 5 "B's of music. The following have the international following, over time, that blazed a trail for others to follow:
Beatles Beach Boys Berry (Chuck) Bach Beethoven
I listen to music ALL the time, and never heard of the people listed here.
here something that if you play it loud, it'll surround you... Don't know what they are saying but the groove is nice... trip on the video too. - Hardage, Questionland
I have to give it up to the next one.... You've probably heard them before but... Made me listen to it over and over - Gorillaz, Broken

I think you missed the entire point of the thread. Perhaps the name of the post should be the first clue.... "best music you've never heard" .... as in never heard of before! And as for longevity and impact; The gentleman (Monty Colvin) who's videos I posted above happens to have been creating and putting out music for over 20 years (longer than a lot of your "B" list) and has never had any hit songs or become a household name. Yet he (and his former band) has infuenced a great many musicians and he continues to create music out of the sheer love for it. Fame and fortune do not neccesarily equate to quality and greatness.

thats a silly way to go about things.... by your logic, its only good and worthwhile if its popular... soulja boy and lil wayne are better than my guy Krizz (first post on this page) simply because he isnt well known?
