The Mythbusters are on the Discovery channel. You need cable or satellite programing to watch them.

You'll know soon enough after it airs, if you don't get Discovery. It will be posted to YouTube probably minutes after it airs, by many I'm sure.

I already know but, this has been fun watching.

It's the Soldier, not the poet,

What happens when you grab a table cloth and slowly pull it? The dishes follow the tablecloth, even if they're on bearings.
The ones with bearings resist the pull a little but quickly remain steady with the cloth.

Acceleration with normal planes isn't like a top fuel dragster. They slowly build up momentum. Runways aren't 10,000 feet for landings.

Yes, but you see, the DISHES are supposed to move first, THEN the tablecloth
tries to stop them from moving forward with its computer control.
SEE?

Too bad they didnt do a preview and clearly state all the perameters of the myth exactly (thinking like a lawyer .)

I wouldnt be able to make a bet without totally knowing all the facts. Just saying can it take off on a treadmill is not sufficient apparently.

Ever play Poker or bet on the horses at the track, no one knows all the parameters, you take your best SWAG (Scientific Wild A$$ Guess) and go with it. The plane will take off or it won't. I'm saying it'll fly, $5.00 ???

I'm not surprised. Now I just need to see if I can catch the video on Youtube.

If not, I'm sure I'll catch it sooner or later on one of the 1,558,458,145 reruns that they show.

I'm waiting for them, and they'll fall on deaf ears. If people aren't convinced by now, then they can believe whatever they want. Maybe on their flat earth, a conveyor belt can stop a plane; but on everybody else's round world, we know the truth. (Some of us knew it all along).

I still say this whole controversy is based on misunderstanding and confusing explanations. Either the treadmill is moved fast enough to keep the plane stationary in space, or it just matches the planes speed in reverse. Toss in a couple of idiots and you have a worldwide debate.

Treatment of denial

Denial is treated differently in different types of therapy. In psychoanalytic therapy, denial is regarded as an obstacle to progress that must eventually be confronted and interpreted. Timing is important, however. Psychoanalytic therapists wait until clients appear emotionally ready or have some degree of insight into their problems before confronting them. In the humanistic and existential therapies, denial is considered the framework by which clients understand their world. Not directly confronting denial, therapists assist clients in exploring their world view and considering alternative ways of being. In cognitive-behavioral therapies, denial is not regarded as an important phenomenon. Rather, denial would suggest that an individual has not learned the appropriate behaviors to cope with a stressful situation. Therapists assist individuals in examining their current thoughts and behaviors and devising strategic ways to make changes.

NIce try, but there is no speed at which the treadmill will keep the plane stationary. That's the point. The treadmill does not affect the plane. Period.

Yeah that's the only thing that surprised me: the pilot was actually stupid enough to think it wouldn't fly! How can someone like that become a pilot? I guess you don't have to have even moderate intelligence (or even comon sense) to become a pilot...
