UPDATE i now can carry a firearm legally on my person
I’m going for my CCP next month and wanting ideas about where you all conceal your weapon on your person.
My carry weapon will be a Colt mustang pocketlite .380 so it’s pretty lightweight. It’s the average size of a 380 with a hammer.
I’m 5’6 ½” 160# with a slight pot belly, I normally wear my mechanic work uniform. And even when I don’t, I still wear the pants and just put on a tee shirt (hey, why should I do laundry?)
Now, I’m going down in my basement to shoot at pieces of paper from 7 yards.

ok, ok. i know you wouldn't want me anywhere near you if i had to use my gun.
in my defense, i have no target time with this pistol. i did learn that i consistantly shoot high and to the left with it. so that means, if i'm aiming at your heart, i'm still gonna get ya...

For somewhere im doing a lot of walking in a pocket, in the car or somewhere im not moving around much in an ankle holster. Ever try to get something out of a pocket, waistband or underarm sitting in a car ? Ankle is a piece of cake, and no criminal hardly thinks of looking there. Im usually more paranoid of carjacking, robbery at car. A girl friends BF just got robbed at a gas station while sitting in his car waiting to pump gas.

i dont know how i would ever get to this while seated in a fiero.

true. but i dont want to think about it that much to take it out all the time. i would say that 80% of my time spent away from my house or work is in my car.

UHHHHHH, O.K.
There is no one answer for this subject. Everyone has to do what they want/need and what works for them. The question here is: "Where do you carry"?

Hmm, I've got a habit of (when I carry, which isn't very often due to rules at work, etc) it's not very concealed at all...
It's a Taurus PT92 9mm full frame that I wear right on my hip. If I've got a sweatshirt/sweater/coat then it's covered, but I can't stand an untucked T-shirt, so when I'm not wearing an overshirt it's wide open.

Just curious as to why you need a concealed gun. Do you live in a bad area? I would like to have a concealed carry permit but I doubt I would ever carry it. Around here it would seem more trouble than it is worth.

Yeah I guess. I have a small arsenal but damn sometimes I don't even like carring my wallet. Just a card and some cash in a rubberband. At most I carry my utility knife when I'm working but a gun seems like a hassle. I do wish we could carry one if we wanted. Hell I wish it were law for everyone to have gun training but then I also think it should be law to join the Military for at least a couple years.

You dont have to live in a bad area any more. THink like a crook...if you want to steal or rob, wouldnt it be better takings in a better part of town I live in one of the nicer areas of Columbus. I wouldnt go walking around here at nite or drive my convertible in traffic at nite without one. I wont work in my shop at nite with the overhead door open. I still like the ankle holster. In Ohio if you have a permit, it MUST be totally concealed. If you dont have a permit you can carry it in a hip holster out in the open BUT IT MUST BE TOTALLY VISIBLE AT ALL TIMES, and you have to have it unloaded in trunk when in your car.

i'm 35 and i've never needed a gun either... thankfully.
i've lived in this city my whole life. i've move 5 or 6 times but it's funny that i've never been more than 2 blocks away from the same set of railroad tracks.
anyway, i can remember as a kid, playing all day blocks and/or miles away from home. my mother not having any clue as to where I was. i just had to come home when the street lights came on.
that doesn't happen in this day and age. not around here anyway.
but i regress, i dont want this to turn in to a guns are bad / guns are good debate. i'm just looking for ideas as to where people pack their heat.
I used to carry a Baretta Cougar in a shoulder holster. Its a great way to carry in the winter but in the summer it's not as easy. If you wear a sport jacket, or the like, then it a easy carry.
------------------ My best advice when it comes to your Fiero is to "NOT" do any dealings with www.kitcarman.com

guns are neither good nor bad. guns are tools. people on the other hand... some are good, and some are bad.
i've had a shoulder holster and a llama subcompact .45 for concealed carry for 6 or 8 years. never actually carried it, except to the range.

put 100 rounds through a 22 Taurus revolver and a 22 ruger.
i'm going in on saturday
.22 cal???? I know, I know there are more people assassinated with a .22 than any other weapon. However, assassination and protective carry are two different things. Inches short range with a bullet to the head is certainly effective and a .22 can be silenced effectively but at combat ranges and situations, a .22 cal. with a 47 grain bullet has a very small amount of body-shock value relative to anything larger. It simply will not STOP an aggressor. And that is the object of a defensive weapon. To STOP potentially lethal behavior. A .22 only makes a bad guy more angry! Texas does not allow anything less than .380 for qualification or carry. Also, the ruling is that if a qualifier shoots a revolver for qualification, they are only allowed a revolver for legal concealed carry. If a pistol is used, any legal handgun .380 cal. or larger (wheel gun or pistol) may be carried legally. The qualification is a man-sized B-27 target, 50 rounds. 175 points to qualify. 20 shots @ 3 yds, 20 shots @ 7 yds, 10 shots @ 15 yds. All at varying time llimits (2 to 3 seconds per shot, depending on number of rounds and distance per stage shot).
Good luck and good shooting on Saturday.
My wife goes for her CHL course and qualification tomorrow (Saturday) also. She will be shooting a 92F 9mm for qualification and will carry either a compact 10-round .380 or a compact 12-round 9mm pistol (she has both). We will go burn up a 100 - 150 rounds or so today for a good last practice. We have worked on her "hold" and posture. As you can see from the pic below, she has her left hand too low and is too straight in posture. She has since, moved the left hand up to properly support the pistol and has leaned forward with the left foot slightly forward and consistantly shoots a 220 to 230 point round. (I shot a 250 out of 250, with my .45, hehehehe!)
We're anxious for your post over the weekend! Tell us how do you do?

in Missouri you have to qualify with both a revolver and semiauto. nomatter what you plan to carry. but you can use any size to test with. and since 200 rounds of 22 is a lot cheaper than 200 rounds of 380 or 45... (it's ok, you can say it, I'M CHEAP) and i really wouldn't want to fire my 45 200 times in one sitting. after about 20 i'm like, "okay, i'm done"
i have to hit a man sized target from 7 yard, not very impressive. my grouping is consistant, just high and to the left by about 5 inches diagonally.
and i agree, a 22 or 25 would just make someone mad. i would never expect to stop someone with something like that.
good luck to the wifey too.

at the end of the day they called me, my friend that took the class with me, and a retired cop off to the side and we got prizes for a "unknown" competition. the ex cop got 39 in the X, and 1 in the 10 my friend got 20 in the X, 19 in the 10 and 1 in the 9 and you can see my mess for yourself.
PS there was 35 students, so it's not like i was 3rd place out of 5

you know, the main instructor had a 380 under his tee shirt in the small of his back. and a 5 shot 22 in his front pocket. this guy was 6' and probably 250# all muscle in his late thirties, medically retired cop and said he never leaves the house without the 22

good for her. something the instructor suggested (i dont know if it works the same way in your state) but. in missouri, after the sheriff approves you, you have to go to the DMV and get an endorsement on your drivers license. he suggested that we get a separate state ID card for the endorsement, that way if you write a check, or someone sees your license for any thing, they wont know that you have a CCP, and thus probably have guns in your house and they come to steal your guns.
... or someone sees your license for any thing, they wont know that you have a CCP, and thus probably have guns in your house and they come to steal your guns.
just a thought.
I don't know...but if I knew that the person had a CCP...I'd probably be less inclined to break into that particular persons house than one w/o.If they are carrying while out in public...I'm sure that the weapon probably isn't that far away from them at night. I don't have my CCP yet,but if you break into my house, there's not much chance that you'll leave w/o a few extra holes in your body.
In Texas CHL permits are a matter of Public Record. It makes no difference whether it is on the driver's license or not. In Texas, it is NOT recorded on your DL, however. It is a separate ID that is virtually identical to the DL - just separately identified as "Concealed Handgun License".
Now as to wife's day. As stated above, the practical (shooting) was passed. Turns out the score was 247 out of a possible 250. All bullets at 3 yds, 7 yds and 15 yds within the 8 ring or better. Three shots in the 7 ring. 50 rounds fired. So, 47 rounds within the 8 ring. Written exam passed as 100%
We now have a Russian running around Texas with a loaded handgun!
DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS!

i understand your thought process. but if they stake out your house just for a few days, thay can figure out your routine. you have to go to work sometime. so... you're not there to protect your house.

that's great, i'm sure if i had to be at 15 yards that i would have had some 7s.
did she have to use her "wrong" hand for the 3 yard test? that just feels wrong. try wiping your butt with your other hand next time. it's just not right.
