These cars are pretty rare i see them now for sale for $60 on ebay. I have one and plan to replicate my car with my custom kit. I have looked and every thread about MPc has made it into the archives so been a long time since we talked model cars. Has anyone mounted the shell on a remote control car eg a 1/25 scale remote control car. I am very keen on seeing the 2 cars together eg sitting on the bonnet. Your car and your replica. Please post your pics
I have the fastback pictured there advertised as an '88; there was a guy selling them for about $10 I think at a show a few years ago. I should have bought all he had!
Its not really an '88, since it doesn't have the '88-specific wheels, brake calipers, suspension, etc, and it comes with the steering absorber. And to model my car exactly, I'd need to fill the sunroof opening and the spoiler holes in the rear decklid. Tempting, though.
I once had three of those "1988" kits. I made two as they came in the box. The last kit I used most of the parts minus the engine and tail light panel and the wheels. I bought a model of a 1996 Corvette just for the engine. I bought after market wheels to got as close to what I have on my car. I fabricated a new tail light panel and also some side scoops. The bigger brakes were made from scratch to go behind the 5 spoke wheels.
This is what I ended up with

I bought the 85GT four or five years ago on eBay for $30. about two months later Monogram reissued it for $14.95 no markings to distinquish the origonal from the newer one.
If you want the coupe get the Monogram as it build very nice. The MPC is the usual MPC ill fiitng and not always accurate reproduction qualty. If you need a fast backs you really have little choice.
The kits are available form time to time from On line model stores. Just goole for some and they pop up.
My 88 box came open but everything is still in its wrapper. Id like to build it, but wouldn't want to screw it up and need to find another first.
That was my thought this week till i saw the price of them i figure i will just keep my eyes open for another one or 2 perhaps build one as stock and build the second to replicate my modified car. Keep 3rd in box.

your missing one. The black one came with out the 1988 band that was sold in the 1987 model year. I have them all. Also the 1985 gt was sold in 3 different model year versions. 1986, 1992, and 1998,. Just an FYI.

I have a few of the 85 GT that I bought when they were reissued. I was going to mod it to make a fastback since they are so hard to find. I will sell them for what I paid, 15 plus shipping...probably $10 bucks for what postal service charges these days. PM me or email at gangrenefiero@yahoo.com if your interested.

So who has one of these? I love the widebody-bumperpad look!
I do, also have three of the 84's, 2 original issue 85 GT's, SEVEN reissue 85 GT's, and two fastbacks. The white widebody kit is exactly the same as the 84 kit, except it's molded in silver, has clear wndow glass instead of tinted, and has the blue decals shown on the box. The 84 kit does have the widebody parts too, though.
I've built a red 84, turned an 85 GT into an Indy pace car, and another 85 GT into a gold 86 SE. Haven't done much model building since I got a real Fiero, though.
I have 2 of them here, I got em on FleaBay for around $20 each shipped a few months back. My intent is to do a replica of my car as well. I have to wait till I get it painted at the paint shop, so I can get a little of the left over paint to do the model up in.
I have some VERY thin leather here, that I am going to TRY to do the seats in, as well as the door panels. I also have some very thin material that looks like the trunk carpet to do that area as well. Now I need to purchase a Ferrari 355 model, so I can snag the front bumper from it.....It is probably gonna take me as long to do the model as it did my real one LOL
Oh, I have also been waiting patiently for a Scion TC model to be made, so I can buy one, and use the wheels from it

I am also looking for 1.25 wheels i have seen them on ebay before i would think that a 1.25 ferrari wouldn't be too hard to come by but like the real thing you will need to chop away 25% of the bar to fit it.
