Notify the police that they have a video of your stolen car showing the driver. If they can read the plates they should be able to zoom in on the driver.

There's a stop line there. Standard law is that you have to come to a full stop before making a right turn on red. Commonly 3 seconds. If there had been only a yield, he could have sailed through, providing his path was clear.
Buddy, maybe you could check out some of the businesses in that area and see if they'll let you view their security camera footage.
when that person is caught, go have a one on one "chat" with em in hte interrogation room. and beat the ever holy living shikaka out of em. they deserve it. and cut off a few fingers for good measure. some people deserve inhuman treatment and cruelty. but thats just me, i believe in revenge.

I'll look into that tomorrow.
I've been out of town this week in New Mexico fighting to get my son back.

I think the camping out thing is a good idea. You know he has been there at least twice. My guess is that he goes through there all the time and it happens that he broke the law twice at this intersection. It is good news that the car is in town and has been seen. It is also good news that it looks like whoever stole it has done nothing to the car. Heck, the plates are the same! Not sure why you would do that. If it were me, I would be driving around every night, but then again, the time may not be available. Resist the urge to hurt this person. I know it is easier said than done, but 5 years from now you will be thanking yourself.
I really think you are going to get this car back.

Just unbeleiveable that the guy is still driving it. I know that brains usually do not run in the family of crooks, but this is getting ridiculous. There has to be no way that he can keep getting away with driving around amelessly (sp) in your car. Grrr!

Must be a lot of stolen Fiero's in Kansas City. And the huge amount of Fiero's on the roads there make it too difficult to stop and check for a stolen one.

This thread is truly amazing. How on earth can the police over look a stolen Fiero with vanity plates? I think it's time to call your local news station, like Eye witness news and let them do some investigation. Otherwise, camping out at the corner isn't going to help even if you call the police for they seem to have other important things to due.

I'd show up at the local Police station with my lawyer. Put them on notice and demand that they enforce the law and/or take a spare set of keys with you, find the car parked, drive it back home, park it, then remove the fuel pump and injector fuses. The person that stole yur Fiero is a criminal. He must be apprehended and put in prison.

lobb off a few random fingers. thatll keep em from stealing ANYTHING again. ever.
half of the left index finger, 1/4 of the ring finger, all of middle finger, and the tips of both thumbs. thats taking what makes them human from them. this kind of thing can not be tollerated

You guys crack me up. Police aren't the answer to finding a stolen car. If they've got the technology in the dept, they might plug the plates into an "alert" for the plate recognition in their cruisers and if they happen to hit that particular plate, they got lucky. They don't actively search for stolen cars. 60% of the job is probably glorified meter maid (gotta pat the bills) and the remainder is likely domestics.

If i lived close to you I'D camp out there! If that doesn't get you anywhere i was going to suggest somethign but Madcurl beat me to it! Go to your local news station and see if they can run a story on it. I watch the evening news from Philadelphia and even with somebody getting shot daily, they will still run little filler stories on a slow news day. If they can run a 60 second spot about a kitten that plays a song by walking on piano keys, i'm sure your local news can run a story about your stolen car being driven around by the thief and you getting tickets. Maybe the neighbors of the person driving it will see the story and call the cops. Worth a shot.

I would get the car back first because if the person that has the car sees it they might ditch the car. did the Cops just do a stolen car report or did they put out a BOLO for it? make sure they did.
Hang out, follow the F***KER home, when he leaves again, break in his house steal his stuff, wait for him to return, hop in the Fiero and drive off(since you have the keys still!)

ya but eventualy they are going to stop driving it and either ditch it or cut it up. I'd have to first do a camp out for a couple days and if that doesn't work go ask the local news for help. I wouldn't count on the cops being any help. Like previously stated, they aren't out looking for stolen cars. they only find them when they get lucky with a basic traffic stop. I think after being close to a month(?) i'd go for broke and pull out all the stops. Now or nothing.

It is amazing to me that this car is still in the area with the vanity plates. It's like waving a big red flag. I would camp out at this corner and follow the guy and then call the police once he parks the car for any length of time. At his home would be best, but it needs to be long enough to allow the cops to arrive. That way you are clean. IF you do something like steal it back, they will never get this guy because he will not have posession of the stolen object. I would not let the thief know you are on to him. He may try something stupid like damage the car. Camping out in your other Fiero may not be a hot idea, because if he is followed, he may put two and two together and try to run.

Under the law, even if you found the criminal, you can't crack his skull open unless he tried to assault you first but you can confront him and curse him out Then if he comes at you and you deal the bastard a lethal blow its called self defense but make sure there is a witness. If you are against cracking his skull open a good shot of 15% pepper gas in the face will make him miserable for a couple of hours. You can buy pepper gas just about anywhere but if you are like myself, my Glock 45 is always within reach. Idea number 2. Go to the corner where the thief has been caught on camera. Find the nearest Police car and give the officer a picture of the car, tell him its been at the corner several times and then tell him that there is a small reward for finding the car. Then go to all of the businesses in that area and do the same. Even if it cost you $250 its better than not finding the car. The fiend must be caught!

The hardest part would be not tipping the driver off as to the fact you've seen his pattern and you're looking for the car. This could only inflict panic in ditching it.
