my 89 Countach replica build thread / What trans do I have in my Lambo replica
Well we finally finished all the brake and hub assembly and I'm thinking, Could be wrong and the car is up on jackstands, but my front wheels may need spacers to bring em out a bit, thoughts on this Joe??. Stan, can't thank him enough, came over again and we did indeed remove the transmission. I even did the obligatory standing in the engine bay photo, lol. I also picked up the shifter and cable from Mike for the Audi Trans. It's made by Cable Shift in Phoenix http://www.cableshift.com/A...000/audi%20page.html Cliffscustoms also made me a quick 2 part mold of the rear end of the car to fix mine....lol, I guess I really am totally redoing the body, but I want a nice car when finished, and this will allow me to do the rear bumper correctly. Cliff is currently working on the 25th Anniversary style Dash I sent him now based off my measurements taken from Mark's car, making the necessary corrections to it, then molding it, so if any 25th countach guys out there need a dash and pod/ gauge face, correct to the later QV and Anniversary model, let me know. Now then, as everyone knows, I'm going with a BMW V12 in my build, so came up with the artwork for cutting the detail atop the intake covers recently, pic shown. So now I guess I get to save for the engine so that I can mount it all up and see what needs to be cut in the firewall...Saving......

Howdy all, It's been a while but things are progressing, though slowly. I did receive my rear BMW 750il axles as stated. I also traded some part making services for a M70 V12 with 75k on it. The trick was to get it up here from Miami. though a van ride to Merrit Island to sitting in a garage till I could arrange pickup to bring it over to the unit where the car, was a toughy. My buddy Mark came through along with his son to finally get the engine over to me. Now it's a process of attaching the transmission to the rear axles and getting the proper measurements to get the axles welded to the CV joints. I also need to determine how far into the Firewall I will need to go for the V12 to fit properly. I have a few new ( well new to me, lol) goodies. I have 2 used oem Countach Vitaloni electric mirrors, the switch to adjust both of them. I also have an original Countach metal trumpet dual air horn by Fiamm, while it's in need of clean up and re-painting, it's the real deal. My latest acquired items include oem fiberglass and aluminum tunnels for the quarter light areas, oem internal door lock brackets, both left and right, and finally, a set of window regulators, actuators with electric motors, cables and pulleys. Anyway, I'll be trying to update here more often now.
I have a 93 BMW 850i with the V12, a while back I bought a cd of "Technical Infomation System 1982-2006" and 2 cd's of "Electronic Parts Catalog". Supposedly these have wiring diagrams and alot of info on the v12 engines. I never have even put them in the computer and I really have no use for them- do you want them? You can have them if you want them.
Im currently building my dream car as well a Lambo Diablo Roadster, should be done at the end of this summer.....

Will, are you sure that shifter will work with your transmissiom? That link you gave for cable shift shows the shifter mounted to an Audi 016 5-speed which uses the shifter shaft that comes out of the left side of the transmission. In the pic you posted from the rear of your car it looks like you have an Audi transmission with the shift shaft that comes out of the back of the transmission, which I think is an 012.

Stan came over this evening and we got to work on the car a little and he got the tools he needed back . We bolted back up the cradle and put the rear wheels on so i can roll it to get it on a flatbed. A lot happening on this build, and a new place to store it shortly, so quite excited by this... I did finally get my V12 and am in the process of purchasing the aftermarket engine management system as well as throttle bodies and various other parts to make this V12 run. I sent off my dash a few weeks ago to be modded into a 25th style per my measurements of Mark's car and these will be available for those that need them shortly. The dash and dash pod were molded this week and just waiting to pop the first casting, then I'll show pics. It will also have the glove box and a cover too. I'm going to have my wing molded as it's the smaller wing for the later years including the 25th. I finally popped out the molds of the wheel flairs, and though a little repair is necessary, they will work fine for reproducing a few sets. I have my oem window regulators now as well as tunnel parts for the quarter lights. The big news is we may soon have a place in states( Florida) that can make the curved glass for these cars, just working out the details and making templates, though it's safety glass.

Howdy, Well, I'm not moved yet, but yes some progress has been made. I made a trip up to Savanah Georgia with the help of a friend from work. I loaded up and took with me, my center console, wheel fair molds, rear wing, wing tips, pylon templates, front upper and lower bumpers, quarter lite bulkhead tunnels, window frame, and finally, my curved side glass. I handed all this to cliff to make molds and templates. He handed me my reworked dash, dash pod, the rear clip mold with a casting within, and a pair of old seats from of all things, the Elegant Motors Show car... The seats look really cool, though not 89 style, I really like em, and make a great TV watching seat for now. I ordered the Choice wiring engine management system and Tony started on it yesterday. I took a few pics to show ya the parts and pieces of what I received.

Your dash is almost identical to mine, I like those seats also, if you ever decide not to use them I'm interested ... Let me know if you get a glass supplier sorted out in Florida...I haven't bought any glass yet, or the frames...been to busy getting engine/transmission setup. I almost there i just took the transmission to be rebuilt/beefed up when i get it back then it will bolted to the engine for the final time. I have all my sensors on my engine now, cradle is almost done and i'm hoping to get started on the tube frame from the fire wall back this weekend...I want the chassis done and drivable by the end of summer so i can get onto the body next fall...

I have a pair of 89 style seats i would trade you. They even make great TV-watching seats!
I have been working on the rear tube structure on mine, i'm hoping to have the whole rear tube structure done in a couple of weeks, by then the transmission should be rebuilt (waiting on a drive chain and shift kit, everything else is ordered)

time for an update. I received several items recently of interest. The first package is my engine management system for the V12. I also had two sets of horn trumpets restored and powder coated candy apple red, one set for me and one for my Lambo friend and helper, Colin. Just recently I got a package Royal Post fro my Friend Al. This was like a Christmas gift with it's contents. It had a brand new Rover SD1 steering column in it along with brand new ignition and keys. The package also had an OEM steering pad for an 89 Countach and a rudimentary set of molds for the rare, Super expensive, and elusive steering column shrouds. I will get a simple set of castings out of these and rework for the final product. I'm waiting to make a new adapter for the trans/engine which hopefully will happen late June, Mike is attending to personal things at the moment. As for the glass, It's being templated this week then will be taken over to the place to have tempered curved glass manufactured. Also, we are templating a windscreen as well. I should have another update shortly, stay tuned.
