Yesterday I replaced the front wheel bearings and shocks... what a difference in handling. The front end was in pretty bad shape.

Starting engine work later this week. Step one- Drop cradle

I HATE THESE COMPUTERS at work
I just typed a huge reply and lost it all... so this is going to be short and sweet

Updates have been non existent because I dont have an internet connection at my house
The 3800 is in and running, huge relief when it started the first try

still need to make some kind of adapter for the shift and select cables. and I need help with the vacuum hose routing. also need to install axle seals, then the a-arms/wheel hub/axles and struts. Take it to get aligned and I'll be golden...

so in short, it's almost finished. and has taken 50 times longer than expected.

anyways funny chance Lambo that you bumped the thread the very day I came here to ask about vacuum hoses

The 3800 runs but idles incredibly high- like 3000-4000rpm. Picked up oil pressure immediately but I still only ran the engine for about 12-15 seconds.
my vacuum question is posted here: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/088726.html
please post a reply here or in that thread; I'll be checking both

I replied to the other post on the diagrams.
I'm also about to fire mine up. Slight delay in that the first motor I put in had zero compression on all cylinders. I'll be talking to the salvage yard I bought that one from. I've got another engine (only 7k miles) sitting on my floor waiting to get put in. I'm hoping to have this thing ready to fire soon.

Thanks Lambo

any guesses as to what power and torque this thing will put out? No AC or power steering to waste power, zzp powerlog, 3.4" pulley, 3" exhaust, no cat, Loyde did the PCM. And it's the series 3 supercharger- 260hp stock if I remember correctly. Don't know the stock torque.

I may have access to a dyno this winter, but until then I'd like a fair guess from anyone. I'd like to see how it compares to my friends 95 Corvette, and I can't wait to waste a few 4 cylinder ricers

youll struggle for 240whp without tuning... tuning would get you up toward the 280-290whp area. Powerlogs are junk unless properly tuned for.

I just do this for fun. I'm not really into numbers much, so I wouldn't be very good at giving you an estimate. There are youngsters on here with way more experience and knowledge than me that will be willing to give you hp estimates (see above). Your build sounds pretty close to mine though. I'm just hoping to surprise a few stangs and Ls1s at the Friday night test and tune at my local dragstrip.

Yea I've got a friend with an old 302 mustang he's been working on, another friend with the LT1 95 corvette, and a couple that drive ricers. Oh this is going to be fun...

I hate that I can't post pics at work... I have a wiring question but a pic would help explain it a lot. There is some sensor sticking out the side of the supercharger, toward the rear of the car at an angle. It's opposite the boost bypass valve, to the right of the throttle body, and seems to have a spot for a vacuum hose that was busted off. Ideas? I can't find a plug on the wiring harness to fit it, and I have 2 plugs that are not connected to anything

I still need help with these two unhooked wires, in the thread below
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/092993.html

I've finally got the shift/select cables taken care of. I just need to bleed the brakes and clutch, then get the engine running right...

I start the car, it revs to 1800-2000rmp for a few seconds and then slowly drops to 900-1000.
The moment I touch the gas pedal, it revs to nearly 3000rpm and takes ~20 seconds to return to idle around 1000. I got a check engine light yesterday; I'm guessing it's something I dont have plugged in. I don't have access to my neighbors scanner right now, so I have to wait til monday to get more information. I believe he has a Nemisys, if that's how it's spelled, which I can use to scan for KR and read engine codes.

Ideas, suggestions, or any other help would be appreciated.

Would not having the coolant temp sensor plugged in cause the strange throttle behavior like I described above? I have to go to advance auto tonight to buy a new temp sensor as the current one wont plug into my harness. I didn't realize it was disconnected to begin with.

The engine can idle smoothly at 1k, but the moment I press the gas it revs up to at least 3k and takes forever to return to idle. I don't think it's an intake or vacuum leak, otherwise it wouldn't idle at 1k at all would it?

Check your tps for shits and giggles. Check to see if it gives a good sweep. And make sure you have it adjusted.

Last night was the first official test drive of this 3800 swap. I still need to go back and redesign the shift cable bracket I made, and get the decklid installed. Also I'll have to get a couple 3" pipes from summit and run the exhaust out the rear of the car... right now it exits off the muffler near the rear cradle bushing on the right side.

But those are minor things. I have to thank my neighbor Brian as well as everyone on this forum for their help in completing this swap... especially Loyde, Darkhorizon, Fieroflyer (wiring harness), and PurpleReign (flywheel and low mount)

I'll add these links to my first post, for future reference when others read this thread

Well, a few fuel injectors started leaking from the orings. I guess I didn't properly seat the fuel rail when I tightened the nuts down. Fixed that... no fires thank god.

Then, for no reason a leaky radiator cap on the fill tee I installed by the engine. Removed, cleaned and reinstalled. Seems fixed. Maybe it wasn't on all the way to start with.

Engine scans seem normal and no KR. We drove around for a while and everything seemed great. Since the clutch isnt broke in all the way (has 125 easy miles on it) we didn't get on it for very long. We started at 2k RPM and eased to WOT then back down. No KR.

Then I examined the transmission mounts. Bolts worked completely loose, two had fallen out. Lesson learned: USE LOCTITE ON TRANNY BOLTS. Reinstalled with loctite, should be fine now.
