Be sure you put the mockup on the car during the shaping and walk around while looking at it, take a marker with you .....it really helps to get the final shape to blend with the body...hope this helps

I think that everyone is reserving judgment until we see a finished prototype. It's hard to tell how the finished product will look from what you have done so far. I think there are a number of people who are interested to see the finished prototype.

cover it with wax paper or better yet, saran wrap. you'll see the creases and wrinkles when you pull the part but it will easily sanded out.

After that 'lil accident, I covered the parts in shellac, and waxed them. Masking tape and wax worked well, also. Or you can cover it with a thin layer of "mud" and shoot it with a coating of Kilz primer. Then wax, etc...

You can get rough molds with aluminium foil and plastic wrap..dont expect too much though...the aluminium will wrinkle when you put it to the shape, the plastic wrap will wrinkle when you apply resin and fiberglass....so you will need to do some smoothing when you pull a mold this way.

FieRo, that hood scoop is going well... Hopefully I'll have 1 done within the next week... Think the vents would sell?

yeah thats why i only use it to cover the foam to then make a glass plug.. then you make a mold from the fiberglass plug - never make a mold straight from foam

I just have to ask if this has died and will not happen.
I have already in mind that this is the trunk lid mod I want for my Fiero.
so the question is, has this stopped or has some one found one of theys mods already made.
or am I going to have to pick up the ball, I don’t want to take any one thunder but I would not mind trying to make a mold for this mod. I have never fab any thing but you guys make it look easy.

I've got a full time job now (just graduated HS 4 weeks ago, something like that...

good news tho... im getting ready to buy an 86GT that has the most hideous hole in the decklid that will need covered up... I wont garentee on when it'll be done or when i'll try to finish the mold... But once i get a place to do it it'll be easy...

I was in the process of making a mold outta wood, but that was also put on hold due to finances, and too many other fiero projects going on...

Its alot harder than it looks i found that out the hard way... but i'd like to get atleast 1 made to see what it looks like... if its pleasing to you i'll make ya 1... but time is something i dont have a ton of at the moment... I'll get 1 done eventually...

wow guys check this out, I was killing my last 15 min of work on friday and disided to look on ebay on the newly listed since I all ready check all the pages earlyer that day and I could not beleave my eyes

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View Item&item=7991664576&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT#ebayphotohosting

the exact lid vent we are all talking about and it was for $100 buy now , I wander if it was from the first ebay action, I looked for a ebay name for the first action but they removed it. you can see he said that he is selling it becouse he wrecked his car and dident have a chance to install it,

I am still stoked thinking about it, I almost have all my body mods, I will have to start my oun thread soon.

I have had one of those, bought it off Ebay (from gdjetski). I personally was not pleased with the quality (a new mold needs to be made) so I sold it. First one I received was broken and had been patched but broke again during shipping (however he did send me another one, it is the one I sold).
It was shipped from overseas... China if I remember right.
But hey it is a nice design ..... it would be nice if you could finish the mold 88GTFormula. They would sell !!

I also purchased one from gdjetski and it too arrived broken. he indicated that he had never had one arrive in such a condition, obviously he's was not telling the truth. He did refund $40.00 to me but knowing that others have arrived broken points to his inability to package properly. Additionally the finish on the piece is a far cry from perfect. I will be repairing and installing mine but I think I have changed my opinion of his products and would not recommend him.

Zoom88, thanx for the encourage ment... I have more insentive now than i did at the time that i started this thread... I got an 86GT with a few things that need repaired etc... 1 is a hole in the decklid... heres 2 pix...

Before:

After:

I gotta close that hole... But before i finish or keep going much further with mods i need to get ahold of a pole building or shed, etc. to work on the thing and make mods like these... I've promised a few people a center console (i want one as well) but i gotta get a shelter for the glass to cure etc...

Anyways, im drawing up ideas, figureing up measurements, and i "MIGHT" (sometime in the relatively near future) start a new mold, but construct it alittle diffrent (basicaly learning from my mistakes...)

but basicially this post is to thank several forum members for encouraging me... Zoom, Mad-curl, Stevo... yellowstone, Fie-ro, Aus... thanx guys... i'll get this mold done 1 day
