88GTFormula, this is what I don't like about mine. It is open all the way accross, but the lines aren't pleasing. The louvers run one way on the side vents and the opposite way on the center vent. If the same mod was made to the side vents in the above picture, as was made in the center, I think it would look better-a more pleasing, continuous and flowing set of lines. Of course, the carbon fibre vents do really look nice too.
If I could get an indy type decklid (or 1 that has the same vent system as this) I would definately consider this mod...
If anyone knows there to get 1 or ahas any info. about a sale of 1... please let me know... by preferably email... glassfabricant@gmail.com
Thanx, ~Tim Bonner

What do you guys think... Gimmie a little food for thought on this opinion...
Would these sell...?
I'll Check in this thread 1 more time, then I'll post it in the mall...
Anyone interested in this type of decklid vent mod. ? please LMK.. If I have enough ppl interested I'll start production... If you are interested, please suggest your purchasing price...
I'm interested. But of course would need to know the ball park price and such.
Nolan
Shoot me an offer and such... I don't have a set price yet, as the project is barely underway (molds and so forth).. Email it to me so I can keep track of it...
wow, that really does look kool. the water on the engine would be a good idea for all cars. some people would be amazed at how much DIRT would come off of their engine if they would just WASH it!!
the other side is the 3.4dohc. it is prone to missing after water sits in its plug cavities.

sorry to disappoint you, but water still doesn't get in the engine bay... I know a gut that washes his wheels on his jeep once a week (Talk about nuts !)
This vent is designed to keep water out, so thats not a problem...
Sorry bout that... It won't be higher than 150, you have my word on it (if it even makes it to 150, Id like to sell them for 125) after the 1st one is made, the price will be fnal (somewhere between 125-150, I think thats pretty reasonable for what it is.)
I got a good bit of sanding done, Im gonna keep at it... Its getting dark out, so I gotta go set up the lights... maybe 1/8 is sanded into shape
do you have a proposed ship date? i'm looking at a mustang one or making my own design but i'd buy this if it's coming out soon. are we talking weeks? months?

Hopefully I'll have a few finished and ready to ship sometime within 2 weeks... I'll keep ya posted
Tim, your progress is looking good so far, but I think you are making a mistake if you don't mount your foam to a decklid so that it takes to the curves of the lid. Unless you are going to accomodate for it later some how.
I got both sides on and cut pretty much to the basic shape... They gotta be shaped to style next... but theres the place Im at on this project now...
Next in order i have to: Cover the foam with latex paint Cover the dry latex paint covered foam with vasiline(sp?) Then it's time to get messy with resin and fiberglass mat

The progress looks good! ..just dont expect a perfect mold this way..you will need to sand every product to shape unless you get a perfectly smooth mold....

the best and longest lasting molds are made from metal. highly polished at that. they get a mold release agent brushed or sprayed on and then a gel coat. then the 'glass is applied over that. either spray 'glass fibers or hand layed mat and mesh. you can make a great, lasting mold with fiberglass, which is what i'm assuming you're doing? in your case, you plug will have to be smooooooth before you pull the mold off. and even then, you'll need to go in and finish off the inside of the mold. whatever you see inside of your mold, will telegraph to every part you pull out of it. and i mean every part. i've never heard of vaseline being used as a release agent, that's not to say it won't work though. just keep in mind, the better your female mold is, the better your parts will come out. i build composite boats ('glass over wood core) and if it's not smooth, even the wood grain telegraphs through. just some of my .02. looks like you're on the right track so far though. nice work.
edit: one last thing....always work wet on wet on wet. don't let it cure and then lay another layer of glass over it. unless you thoroghly sand the cured coat first. wet on wet. let the first layer start to kick, then go right ot the next and continue until all layers are done. wet on dry usually results in delamination (depending on the resin too) so start early in the day, and be prepared to babysit until you're happy with the layers.

Heres the plan within the nerxt 2 weeks or less, To make a 3/4 inch thick fiberglass mold of this plug, then create a mold from that... smoothing both over extremely well after each are dry...
But I gotta finish the pluyg to match my standards 1st...
