once kids come along the dating is when you can sit in the same room together for five minutes after the kids are in bed and before you go to bed. she's exhausted and i'm an insomniac. works perfectly. until i wake everyone up with my drills and saws running. man i need a detached garage!
LMK when to send money for my new vent. i'll be ready in about three weeks. not to put any pressure on you or anything....

Its the customers call weather they want it function, but thats the purpose... Yes.
As far as the height in the back, I gotta watch how tall off the decklid it gets b/c of hitting the rear window etc. But I'm hoping like 4-5 inches tall... We'll see... I'll have to make 1 and play with it berfore i sell any (gotta be perfect)
I guess... Hey, then I'll be outta school and might have more time on my hands... Give it like 6 months, I'll have a few mods out... If theres enough intrest... I think there will be more intrest on these in lets say... ehh, a month or 2...
Planning on Carlisle...? Its like 45 minutes from me...

As far as those reading this post, I'll hopefully Have a few for sale at Carlisle depending on the intrest shown...
I might even bring a notchback as well as a fastback decklid with 1 installed on it to sell, we'll see how far I get and how much intrest there is... Id love to get 1 installed on my 87 before then, but priorities rule... The dodge truck might have fierowannabe cyndrome
Heres my mockup cad drawing without accurate dimensions of the current mold. It is not correct by all means but simply stimulates the brain. 88GT gave me permission. This is his baby. =)
Got it covered with 1 coat of latex paint... Im gonna let it dry and try to coat it again before midnight sometime... Just to be safe... | | | | | | VVV PIX VVV
nice work my friend. nice indeed. what's the plans to smooth it out? bondo and sanding? and sanding? and more sanding???
fiberglass and sanding go hand in hand.
I'll put it this way...
When I was 3-4 (just started talking...) first work sounded like sand paper... Id always find some sand paper, and go out to the yard and find a limestone about the size of a grown mans fist, and spend about a week or 2 doing nothing but sanding the rock down about 2 sizes (220 grit)
I did this alot as a kid... this was my entertainment...
So im going to enjoy sanding, as odd as it may sound, when something turns out I like to look at it and say "man, you have no time on your hands for doing that... but awesome job!"
Heres another pic of what im doing to help out a little visually. I believe cliff donated this awesome GT model that I have yet to skin. Some notes. ~Yes the GT is up to scale according to cliff. Length = 165.4" ~No the mold is not quite up to scale and is not finished for that matter, I just wanted to post this before bed time =) ~I also am willing to help OTHERS out if they would like me to put their mods on this GT and also I have an 84 model.
looks good. it does look a little too tall for my tastes but i'm hoping that's just the scale factor? i think 2-3" at the tallest point is more than enough. the blind spots are enough already.

Im keeping that in mind... But the huge plug will ensure irts not too small... I plan on making it much smaller than the height of the plug at the moment...

Since updates are so fun I did a little more cad work in resizing it and smoothing out the sides and back. Still needs a lot of work to match 88gtformulas mold but here are some fun pics. Sorry about the yellow, thats how my work space is.
Great thread to watch.....keep the progress updated as often as ya can. I'm pretty new to making my own stuff like this so watching how you are doing is great.
Arte444...Care to send a DWG my way of that GT? I have not been able to track down a GT in 3d. Thanks
Keep up the great work on your project, I'll be watchin.
widened the vents on the cad pic...looks cleaner imo
Be sure you put the mockup on the car during the shaping and walk around while looking at it, take a marker with you .....it really helps to get the final shape to blend with the body...hope this helps
