My daily driver was stolen from in front of my house between the hours of 1am and 8:30am this morning.

85 GT V6 4sp
faded Red paint, grey ground effects.
grey interior
license plate JULIA C

this is an old pic, I took the wing off years ago.

the bumper sticker kinda stands out.
and the license plate is held on with pop rivets, not screws.

Julia is on the left

They are easy to steal. An alarm is a cheap investment.
Post some pics and you know the Fiero-world is small, so I'm sure someone local will be trying to get rid of parts so keep an eye on craigslist and ebay. Was there any glass broken? This could very well be a good meaning close person wanting to fix your car up for you. We had to tell my father-in-law about us doing that for him. He got ill thinking that his 69 Chevy Truck that he had owned for 30 years was stolen.
I hope it is just someone fixing your car up for you.

this reminds me of another true story ,my buddies neighbor had an old chevy truck he loved and had been modding and buying stuff for years and the family decided to surprise him with an overhaulin type surprise...they stole it of course while he was at work ,they even told the police what was going on to make sure everybody was on the page ,the family kept it to themselves while the truck was in the shop being overhauled and painted ...he decided after a month it was never coming back and went and bought one like it for a ton of money, a really nice one that didnt need anything...it was sitting in the garage when his wife (the culprit ) got home and raised the garage door ,when she saw it she fell to the floor with some kind of heart problem and she had to tell him after waking in the hospital...true story,i hope this is the case for you without the heart atack of course

I'm sure it isn't a friend trying to be nice.
1, i don't know anyone with enough money to do something like that.
2, if a friend was going to "steal" my car to fix up, they would do it to my V8 car.

The shock is wearing off, and now I'm starting to get pissed.

I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would bother stealing a stock Fiero in less than perfect shape? Its not like the parts are worth enough to try to part one out. Hopefully its just some dumb kids going out for a joyride and the cops find it relatively unscathed.

Cheaper investment is a toggle switch on the fuel pump power line under a seat. 95% of crooks will NEVER look for one.

Nobody needs their car stolen but Having Buddy's stolen is sacrilege. That's just not right with how much you have given back to the fiero community.

I hope they find it soon without much damage.

Buddy.....

I'll be watching. I make my way out to KC now and then so I will keep my eyes open. Unless they change something drastically, it should be easy to spot. This guy needs to pay for his crime.

Sorry to hear that this happened.

Great idea. Maybe even just pop the fuse out for the fuel pump when parked.

While I am very sorry to hear of the theft of your daily driver Fiero; this story doesn't make sense. First off the car is worth little. Parts are worth something but only to a Fiero collectors! The metal content is lower than a steel car so they even bring less value at the crusher! Secondly because there are so few Fieros on the road, it sticks out like a sore thumb. It doesn't make sense that someone would go through the trouble of stealing an old used low value automobile.
If you have reported this to the Police, they should be able to find it in short order.

A theft guard that I have used for years on many of my stick cars is to place a hidden switch that is placed in the clutch pedal safety switch circuit. If it is turned off there is no way that the car can be started. On auto cars just find the ign switch start connection and put the switch there. I would venture to say that your car will be soon found.

Do you live on a "main" street? If not, it has to be someone that lives in your area. No thief would follow you home to steal it (no offense to your car), just there are bigger values out there for the same trouble. Maybe someone stole it thinking it was your V-8.
Was there any signs of forced entry? I'm guessing it was locked? Did they break the glass to get in? Can't see taking the time to jimmy the lock to get in for the pay off even if you were needing Fiero parts.
If I were to guess, I'd have to say kids for joy ride. It doesn't take a skilled thief to take one of these cars.
The bad thing is by the time the police notify you that they found it abandoned, numerous people could've touched it so they wont bother with fingerprints. (Lazy in my opinion).
I hope it works out as positive as it can for you. At LEAST a recovery will help you with closure.

This theft has to be the work of an amateur. The seasoned professional goes after the big buck luxury or sports cars and fences them to the chop shops.
What the heck is a thief going to do with a Fiero? Sell the parts here in the mall? I don't think so.
If I had my way these thieves when caught would be slowly and painfully tortured within an inch of their life. If this was done effectively, car theives would be no more.
Bring back the whipping post.

how much gas was in it ? im with dennis ,somebody took it for a joy ride ,start looking in the amount of fuel in the tank zone around you ,wooded or secluded so they could ditch and run,i used to drive a tow truck for a while and you would be surprised how many went back to thier owners with just a few scrapes ,a busted window, no spoiler and no gas

The car was stolen for either a joyride or to commit another crime. It probably will be found abandoned somewhere closeby, if you are lucky. Hopefully it will still be in one piece.

Thats what I was thinking. I was a crime of convenience, you do still have the keys right. I only ask because if you lost your keys they will be back later for the rest of your stuff.

Cruise around the local area, we had a van stolen and found it at a local fast-food place. Another friend found it on a side street about 20 minutes away from his house in Indianapolis with a street sign pole sticking out the back window.
