GM does have a policy regarding vehicles that are damaged in transit. Very minimal repairs may be completed (few hundred bucks), the repair costs covered by the transportation carrier and then the vehicle may be sold without disclosure. Repairs of a more substantial amount are also paid by the carrier, but the vehicle requires disclosure to the potential buyer prior to sale. Extensive repairs (anything that is structural or involves panel or roof repair) typically results in the vehicle being scrapped. By scrapped I really mean shredded. The fuel tank and battery are removed and then the vehicle goes through a machine that tears it up into pieces no larger than a fist. If this car escaped without repair then the question would be who paid for it? Once vehicles leave the assembly plants they are invoiced to the ship-to dealership. That vehicle must have been invoiced to a dealership at some point and, if it was repurchased by GM, would have been GM property. Also, when a vehicle is shipped to a dealership it comes with an MSO or MCO (Manufacturer's Statement of Origin) and not a title. A title is created by the state inwhich the vehicle is sold after the dealership submits all the required documentation that is part of the delivery. I'm sure that records regarding this Fiero are long gone, but it would be interesting to know how this one is out there.

GM reguarly has Auctions selling many untitled or No Title vehicles such as protoypes and test cars ,Pilot cars ,damaged cars, etc. They are sold on "Bill Of Sale only" This is where this one falls in. Thanks for your question.
I think I remember seeing this car posted a couple years ago.... this time around I'll bite, send some pics this way please.
Also, aside from the motor being locked up is anything else frozen or soes it still roll and steer normally? As far as storage went, was that climate controlled? Any idea how all the rubber-type parts are as far as bushings, hoses, etc are concerned (are they hardened and dried up with cracking or still soft and pliable?)
Big Thank you for posting Pics for me. I will try to send more pics of it. The car has always been in a garage. I was told the first few years it was in a open covered large multylevel concrete parking garage then indoors until 2002. Then outside for a year. I purchased it in 2003 Been in my secure Garage since. All rubber good. Engine wont turn over. I tryed a breakerbar on crank but its frozen. I may ? try to pull plugs and pour mystery oil in cylinders. Car is frozen in time. Original as ya can get. Still has factory Black oilfilter..Plugs,Chalkmarks on tires[dryrotted] Battery missing but sure it was dead. Windsheid is cracked,Rear deck Cracked around lock, and front of hood cracked. It appears someone tried to break into it during shipment?or on dealers lot. Did a bucther job on both. Doors are fine. I will keep everyone updated with more info. I did plan on keeping it in as-is cond. Its a great conversation piece. I was Dianosed with Leukemia in 2010. Im OK for now but gotta fight down the road so if i get a bite it goes as im just thinning out my 7 car collection. if it dont sell i will be just as happy to keep it. Its currently stored 6 feet in the air on cinderblocks as I live in a floodzone{.Im 800 feet from the ocean on a island} Thx Ed
I've read this thinking it sounded like a familiar car, so I spent some time doing some searches. I found this thread from Dec. 2002: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...030531-1-024118.html when it was on eBay. Unfortunately, there are no pics and the eBay ad is long since expired. However, the comments are interesting as it is mentioned by me (!) that several interior parts were missing and that it was part of a trade school or high school auto shop program.
I kept looking and dug up this thread from Oct. 2003 when you bought the car (before you were even a member): https://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...040223-1-034913.html Luckily, there are pictures! They show the car with the missing interior parts and no factory plastic wrap anywhere to be seen.
I'm not trying to rag on anyone, but what's the scoop? Did you reinstall all the missing stuff or did the person you bought it from do this? Did you know the history of this car as a teaching aid at a school? That may or may not explain the locked up engine.....it's possible the students tinkered with it over the years and boogered it up. I really wish someone copied the eBay ad......it would answer a lot of questions.
It's still an interesting car, but some of the interior is questionable, as far as only having 79 miles, and I'm really curious about that factory plastic.
Either way, good luck with the sale and I wish your circumstances were different.

Yes, thats the same car. The Radio was missing which I presumed was stolen when car was new. As well as the damage done during delivery. I did find a radio in a yard that was from a same month built Fiero. The other parts I found behind seats and put back on. Horn button,Shift knob, ashtray, and Radio Bezel. The plastic was bunched up under seats so I used a hairdryer to restretch it out. Sorry you were offended by it. Nothing other was taken apart on the car. Even the brake rotor tabs still on there. As for the legality of the car. Its was sold as a Abandoned car by the state in 2002. Also any Donated cars can be sold[but not titled in most cases] GM regularly sell them now[bill of sale only]. About 10 years ago a school sold 2 Donated Experimental CERV corvettes at Auction. GM sued but lost the case as once donated they have no legal ties to them anymore. So now if a school sells them GM or the other manufacturers just punish the schools by not giving them any other cars. Many of these cars have been returned to the road. A 38 mile donated Gold 86 Fiero was rescued by a member here in 2003? from a yard.[in NH?] He did get a title and sold it to a collector in Calif. The car was driven hard for years then used on a episode of TopGear last year. So it happens...alot more than ya realize. I actually taught at a tech school so familiar with policy. lot different now. i was just trying to preseve a piece of history. They are only new once. Now hopeing someone else appreciates the car in its Frozen in time condition. Thanks Ed

No Problem! Thanks for digging up that old thread. I actually was looking for it. Im still trying to figure out how to post pics here. If I finally figure it out I will post some more current pics. Also thx for the kind words about my health. Im in OK shape now, But was told down the road Im gonna need Chemo and all the other BS that goes with it. Last visit was positive as its stableized for now. It has no Cure but can be treated. Most Folks with CLL can last up to 20 years. I most likely gonna make it. Stopped worring about it 3 months after Dianosis.Like the Doc told me.. "Ed You will probly Drop dead of something else by then so go live it up" LOL..........
So how can one get a title of ownership? Through GM? Through you?
No title at all.. only "Bill of Sale" but there are ways to get a title.. Such as if ya know a salvage yard..Depends on your State,, or that place in Alabama that has Ads in Hemmings to get titles..
Not sure how law works in your State but up here its against the law to sell a car without a title Now if I was to buy it how the heck am I going to get the title You should do the leg work, Get the title and ill come down with $2500 cash
I don't know if this is the case with THIS car, but I thought the cars donated to the automotive programs weren't allowed to be titled under agreement with GM or something like that. Most states you can file for a lost title or have a mechanic file a lein against it to get a title. However, if no title exists for the car at all, I'm not sure what that would do to the process.

Sorry to hear you have to let it go Ed.....I know we've discussed this car many, many times over the years on CF. If I was in a position to take it, I would.
Wow crazy that I started that thread years ago. Hopefully no offenses taken on what I wrote. I guess I didn't understand the price tag someone was asking back then. Good luck with the sale and on your health. God bless.
I believe that you can get a title in New Hampshire for a vehicle at least 25 years old. I used a title service a long time ago on a classic car that I purchased only with a Bill of Sale and there was no problem. I would also do a run of the cars history. You can find title service companies in Hemmings Auto News

Don't you need to be a resident in NH to register a car? If not, seems everyone would do as you suggested w/ stolen vehicles...
yes you do but if he had a friend in NH he trust then they could do it for him or 1 of the other states that are like NH there are a few throughout the country
If anyone in New Hampshire could Help me get a Title? I would pay them for their trouble. I can drive up & meet ya at a DMV with all the Correct Paperwork. thx Ed #267-738-1122 9am-10PM
